Chapter 46

Mikayla's POV
That evening, after a heartwarming dinner, Daniel approached me with a worried face. He looked uncomfortable, and it seemed like something was bothering him.
“Mommy, I have something to tell you,” Daniel said, his voice shaking slightly.
“What’s wrong, honey? Tell me,” I said, lowering my head to look at him gently. Curiosity and worry emerged at the same time.
Daniel took a deep breath, then continued, “There was a friend at school who pushed me while I was playing. He said I shouldn’t join in and pushed me. I feel so sad,” he complained, his face showing disappointment.
Hearing that, my heart was stunned. The bad actions of his peers made me worried and determined to support him. “Daniel, that’s not good. How do you feel after she pushed you?” I asked seriously, trying to understand her feelings more deeply.
“It feels bad, Mom. I want to play with my friends, but he always bothers me,” he replied, looking down, seemingly confused by the uncomfortable situation.
“Disturbing in what way? Does she always act like that to you?” I asked further, giving him a chance to let out all his feelings.
Daniel nodded slowly. “Yes, sometimes he doesn’t let me play and always finds a way to push me away. I try to get along, but it’s hard,” he said, his voice full of doubt.
I felt him—a mixture of anger and concern. “Honey, you have the right to play with anyone at school. No one is allowed to treat you badly. If she continues to be like that, you should tell your teacher about her behavior. They can help you,” I said firmly, reassuring him.
“If I tell the teacher, will she get mad?” Daniel asked worriedly.
“No, honey. The teachers are there to protect you and create a safe environment for everyone. If someone is bothering you or hurting your feelings, it’s important to report it,” I said gently, trying to be understanding.
“Then I’ll tell the teacher. Thank you, Mom,” he said, looking calmer after hearing my explanation.
With everything that had just happened, I felt so grateful that Daniel had the courage to share his feelings with me. This was an important moment, where I could provide support and help him grow into a confident and assertive person.
“Always remember, you are not alone, Daniel. Mom and Dad are always here for you, and we will always support you,” I said, pulling him into my arms.
After our chat, Daniel seemed much better, and we spent the pre-bedtime time with light stories, rebuilding his confidence and happiness.
I hoped that this conversation would help him understand the importance of talking about his feelings, despite the difficult situation he was facing.
The next day was the weekend, and we decided to have a simple picnic in our backyard.
Luckily, our backyard is very spacious and there is a swimming pool that provides a fun atmosphere to relax in.
The kids were very enthusiastic about this plan. “Come on, Mom! We can set up a tent like we’re having a real picnic!” Emma shouted excitedly, looking excited by the idea.
We started building the tent using the cloth and some poles in the yard. As we did so, laughter and joy filled the air. Daniel helped keep the cloth from falling while laughing, and Emma ran around to get some soft pillows to use as a base for the tent.
Once the tent was up and ready, we started preparing the cooking equipment. “Let’s cook outside using the portable stove!” I said, excited to see all the activities going on.
“What are we going to cook, Mom?” Daniel asked, watching with enthusiasm.
“We’re going to make delicious sandwiches and fresh salads. Then, we can make fruit juice to go with it!” I replied, taking out the prepared ingredients.
With the portable stove set up, I showed the children how to cook safely. We started by frying meat or other ingredients for the sandwiches. The sizzling sound of cooking filled the air, making everyone feel hungry and excited.
“Wow! It smells so good, Mom!” Emma exclaimed, waiting impatiently.
“Yes! I can’t wait to try it!” Daniel added, looking nervous as he watched all the exciting activities going on.
After we finished preparing the food, we put everything in a basket and brought it into the tent. I also brought cutlery and blankets to protect us from the heat of the sun.
Once everything was ready, we sat inside the tent, enjoying the fruits of our labor while laughing and joking. As we ate sandwiches and salad, Daniel kept telling stories about his friends at school, while Emma asked to make fresh orange juice for us to enjoy as drinks.
The atmosphere of this simple picnic was very pleasant. Outside the walls of the house, we were at one with nature, feeling the fresh breeze and sunlight. The children started playing around the pool, while occasionally glancing to make sure our food didn't burn on the portable stove.
That day was a beautiful and enjoyable moment of togetherness.
I felt grateful for everything we had created as a family and spent time together amidst our respective busy lives.
"I love this picnic, Mom. We should do it more often!" said Daniel after finishing his sandwich quickly.
"Yes! We can schedule a picnic like this every month!" Emma replied enthusiastically.
That evening, after a day of various activities and spending quality time with my family, I was already in my room. The room was quiet, but I felt like there was something I needed to talk about.
“Rudolf, you’re scheduled to go to the hospital tomorrow for therapy, right?” I asked, making sure that he remembered the plan we had discussed earlier. I knew how important therapy was for him to maintain his health and fitness.
I heard movement outside the room before Rudolf answered, “Yes, I’ll go tomorrow morning. There shouldn’t be any obstacles, and I’ve prepared everything,” he replied in a slightly calmer voice.
