Chapter 50
Mikayla's POV
“Let me go!” I screamed, hoping my words would elicit a response. My heart was pounding, trying to hold back the panic of what might happen next.
She just smiled sarcastically, a smile that made me feel scared. “Who do you think you are? How dare you have a relationship with Rudolf after everything that’s happened between us!” she said in a crazed tone.
I felt a mixture of anger and confusion. She saw me as a threat, but I was just trying to live my own life. “I have no intention of ruining your relationship. I just love him,” I replied firmly, trying to show that I had no intention of confronting her.
“Love? It’s all lies! You just want to rule his life, and you think you can take my place!” she said as she moved closer, her voice rising. There was madness in her gaze, and I could tell she wasn’t thinking straight.
This moment felt so dangerous. I couldn’t let her continue with this hatred. “This was all unnecessary, and you didn’t have to do all this to me! Let’s settle this in a better way,” I said, trying to lift my hopes.
She ignored me, looking even angrier. She stepped closer, and I felt my heart pounding. “This time, I’m going to make sure you learn to never interfere with my life or Rudolf’s life again,” she threatened.
My feelings were becoming more and more helpless. I knew I had to think fast to find a way out of this situation. In the noise in my head, one thought crossed my mind: I couldn’t give up.
“You may feel threatened, but you don’t have to do this. I told you I have no intention of taking Rudolf away from you,” I said, trying to calm the situation. It was time to be braver and try to protect myself.
“I will find a way to get out of this, and you won’t be able to stop me,” I hissed in my heart, determined not to give in to this situation.
“Well, I could save you, you whore, but only after I can marry Rudolf,” the woman said.
“Why are you doing this? There are many other men who are more suitable for you,” I asked, trying to build a dialogue even though my heart was pounding and fear was gnawing at me.
She smirked a cold, hateful smile. “I just want to get back to Rudolf,” she said with conviction. “He is mine, and I will not let anyone take him away from me. And you, you are just an obstacle!”
Hearing her words made me feel mixed feelings. How could someone be so selfish and self-centered? I didn’t want to fight or get involved in this dangerous game, but I also wouldn’t let myself be treated like this.
“You can choose to leave and live your own life,” I replied, trying to stay calm. “Attacking me won’t bring you back to Rudolf. He’s not yours to take.”
She stepped closer to me, her face drawn like a lion’s ready to devour. “You don’t understand, do you? He loved me in the past. I know exactly what we had,” she said, every word echoing in my ears. “And I’ll do anything to win his love back.”
Again, fear welled up inside me. Why did everything between us have to end like this? How could she believe that violence and terror could bring her back to Rudolf?
“Rudolf has made his choice, and you’re the one who has to understand that. He deserves his own happiness, just like I do,” I said, trying to emphasize my determination not to give up.
She laughed sarcastically as if laughing at my decision. “You don’t know what I’m capable of. I’ll make sure you can’t interfere with my life and Rudolf’s. And only after I marry him will this all be over.”
Again, it seemed like there was no common ground in this conversation. Uncertainty and fear gripped my heart. I knew I had to fight, but how?
In my desperation, my mind began to search for a way to find a chance of success. If only there was a guarantee of escaping this situation, to get one step closer to freedom.
“If you dare to do this, you will only make things worse for yourself. Love cannot be forced, and you cannot hold people hostage to get what you want. Try to think better!” I told her, hoping a little logic would touch her heart.
She frowned and stepped back a little, but her sharp gaze remained fixed on me. I had thought that maybe I could touch her heart, but it seemed like it was in vain.
“I don’t care what you say. I will get Rudolf back, and you will never be able to stop me!” she said firmly before stepping back, leaving me tied to the chair in uncertainty.
Is there a way to free myself?
“I have wanted Rudolf and my money back for a long time, but you are here again. I used to hope you were dead but it turns out you are still alive and have two children. I am not sure if they are Rudolf's children," said her.
"Watch your words!" I shouted, my voice filled with courage even though my heart was shaking with fear. I felt like I was being humiliated, but I knew that defending myself would be useless if he already hated me.
“I’m sure Rudolf will save me soon. He’s a great Alpha,” I said, trying to show confidence even though inside, anxiety was starting to gnaw at me.
Hearing my words, the woman looked even angrier. Her face turned red, and I could see the anger burning in her spirit. “You think so? Do you think you’ll be saved? Who’s going to come to your rescue now? You’re just a whore who has no place here!” she shouted in a sarcastic and threatening tone.
