Chapter 87
Mikayla's POV
“Who knows, with a better education, I can help Rudolf in some ways, including managing my finances better,” I thought. This thought could have a long-term impact on our family.
I wrote down all the information I found, making a list of programs I would look into further. I was convinced that this was a positive step, both for myself and for my family.
When I reached this point, I felt a sense of confidence growing little by little. I hoped that I could turn all my doubts into courage, just like Rudolf said. If he had the courage to support me in this step, I was determined to give it my best.
When I finished looking for information, I hoped that I could immediately discuss it with Rudolf. I knew that together we would choose the right path for the future.
Finally, the day Rudolf came home from work. I had prepared a special dinner for him, hoping to make him feel comfortable after a long day at work. When he came into the house, his smile immediately lit up my face, and my heart was filled with joy.
“Are you tired?” I asked, watching his movements.
Rudolf shook his head. “Not really, I’m just happy to be home,” he replied, and I could feel the sincerity in his voice.
He sat down at the dining table, and before we started eating, Rudolf asked, “What are your plans for college?”
As soon as I heard his question, I felt excited and a little nervous. I wanted to tell him about everything I had found while researching college.
“So, I found some college programs that I could take,” I said, taking a deep breath to get my words together. “There are some universities that offer part-time and online programs. I can study while still taking care of the kids and the house, and the tuition fees are also quite affordable.”
I continued, “I’m interested in studying psychology. I think that helping others and understanding their thoughts and behaviors is something that is very meaningful. I want to learn more about how I can have a positive impact on people’s lives.”
From Rudolf’s face, I could see his concern and listening. “I also think this could be a good move for us. With better knowledge, I believe it can help us in many ways—especially in financial planning and making wiser decisions in the future.”
His eyes lit up at my words. “That’s great to hear, Mikayla! I’m proud of you. You do have great potential for so many things,” he said, and my heart warmed.
“I also want to prepare myself for things in our family. “It seems like getting further education is the right move for me and for you too,” I continued, trying to convey how much hope I had for this.
“I’m glad you’ve taken this step. Whatever you need, I’ll support you,” Rudolf said, and that made me feel even more certain that this was the right decision.
There were so many things I wanted to say about my plan, and being with him made me believe that this was the way to create a better future for our family. Now, as we ate dinner, hope and gratitude flowed through me.
The next day, Rudolf drove me to University A, which was located not far from our house. As soon as we arrived at the campus, I was amazed at how big and beautiful this place was. The magnificent buildings and the beautiful surroundings made me feel like I was in a new world.
After getting out of the car, we walked to the receptionist to ask how to register. When we told them our purpose, the campus staff were very friendly and immediately provided the necessary information.
They began to explain at length about the registration process along with details regarding the tuition fees. From the registration fee to the semester fee, everything seemed quite detailed. Several times, I took notes and listened carefully, trying not to be lulled by the anxiety that arose.
Seeing the numbers and details made me stunned. But before I could speak, Rudolf remained calm and listened intently, nodding as the campus explained.
“Tuition fees will not be a barrier. We have several payment options and scholarships if you qualify,” the officer said politely.
As the conversation continued, Rudolf suddenly said, “Don’t worry about the fees, I can afford all of this. The most important thing is that Mikayla has the opportunity to learn and grow.”
Hearing Rudolf’s words made me feel very lucky and excited. He was always there to support me and give me encouragement, even when I felt doubtful.
“Thank you, Rudolf,” I said, softly but sincerely. “I don’t know what I would do without you. This means a lot to me.”
We finally continued the registration process.
After completing the administrative process and registering, I stood in the middle of this magnificent campus, looking around. A new passion burned inside me—it was time to chase my dreams and change our future!
A few days later, the day I had been waiting for finally arrived—the schedule for the first test. I had tried to prepare myself well, starting from studying to practicing various materials that might be tested. The campus officials said that there were two stages of the student selection process, and I wanted to give my best on this occasion.
When I saw Rudolf in the morning, he smiled supportively. “You can do it, Mikayla,” Rudolf said, his voice warm and confident. Seeing his face made the anxiety in me disappear a little.
I took a deep breath, trying to overcome all my feelings. “Thank you, honey,” I said softly. Before leaving, I hugged my husband tightly. This hug gave me the calm and warmth I needed before facing the challenge.
After a while, I pulled away from his embrace. Rudolf looked at me with love and confidence, as if he could see the potential in me.
“Now is the time, okay? Remember, you have trained and prepared yourself well. I am sure you will get through this well,” Rudolf said, pushing me out into a new adventure.
