Chapter 92
Mikayla's POV
For some reason, I felt very nervous. What would they ask? Am I prepared enough? All these questions kept spinning in my head, making it difficult for me to concentrate.
However, Rudolf was beside me, always ready to provide support. “Mikayla, try to calm down. Remember, you have worked hard to get here. This is a good opportunity for you,” he said, trying to calm me down.
He then gave me some advice. “Take a deep breath, and think about what you want to convey. Focus on why you want to study psychology and how you can contribute to the field,” he said, looking me in the eye with conviction.
“Don’t think too much about the outcome. What matters is that you show who you really are and what makes you unique,” he continued. His voice was full of conviction, and it made me feel stronger. “They want to see your abilities and your sincerity. If you are passionate, it will show.”
Hearing his words was so reassuring. I felt hope flowing back into me. “Thank you, Rudolf. You always know how to calm me down and make me feel valuable.”
After a few minutes of waiting, my number was finally called. The anxiety returned, but there was a new confidence thanks to Rudolf’s support. “Remember, no matter what happens, I am proud of you,” he said, encouraging me before I stepped into the interview room.
With one deep breath, I stepped forward, ready to show everything I had prepared.
As I stepped into the room, I saw two older men sitting behind a desk. They looked professional and serious, but I tried to stay calm despite the nervousness that was still gnawing at me.
“Welcome, Mikayla. Thank you for taking the time to interview me,” one of them greeted me kindly, setting a positive tone for the beginning of the meeting.
After a short pause, they began asking questions. “First, can you tell us about your motivations for studying psychology?”
Trying to keep my cool, I began to answer. “I believe psychology can help people understand themselves better. I want to learn about how to think and behave, and provide support to those who need it,” I said confidently.
They nodded, and the next questions came. I answered each one diligently, trying to stay calm and focused. Even though there were moments when my mind wandered, I always came back to Rudolf’s advice to show my true self.
By the fifth question, one of them asked, “What do you think is the biggest challenge you will face while studying psychology?”
I took a deep breath before answering, “I believe that the biggest challenge is being able to understand and empathize with people who have different backgrounds and problems. I want to learn how to approach these issues and provide effective guidance and solutions.”
After answering the fifth question, I felt relieved. The anxiety that had haunted me gradually disappeared, replaced by confidence in what I had shown.
“Thank you, Mikayla. We are quite satisfied with your answers,” one of them said, giving me a gentle smile. “We will inform you of the results of this interview soon.”
With mixed feelings, I nodded and thanked her before leaving the room. A moment later, I stepped outside, looking at Rudolf who was waiting outside with full support.
When I approached him, he immediately smiled. “How was it? Good?” he asked, with a hopeful expression.
With a sigh of relief, I replied, “I’m done! It feels good, and I answered all the questions well.”
He hugged me affectionately, and that gave me new energy.
After completing the interview, I had to patiently wait for the next three days to get the results. In my heart, I felt a mixture of hope and anxiety. If I passed, it meant that I could immediately become a student at campus A, and this opportunity felt so valuable to me.
Even though I was no longer young, I realized that new opportunities sometimes come when we need them the most. I didn't want to waste this moment. The passion to learn and develop burned within me again.
With every second that passed, I knew I had to prepare for the possible results. I surrendered to whatever happened. Whether I was accepted or not, the most important thing was that I had given my best.
"If I am not accepted, maybe I will study harder and try again. I will not give up," I said to myself, affirming the decision I had made. There are many paths to a dream, and there is no harm in trying again if the opportunity is there.
For the next three days, I decided to keep busy. I tried not to focus solely on the results. With the help of Rudolf and the kids, we spent time doing fun activities, studying together, and reconnecting as a family.
The day before the announcement, I started planning what I could do if the results were not as expected. Maybe I could look for online courses or other relevant programs, or even look for opportunities to study elsewhere.
When the announcement day finally arrived, I prayed in my heart that the results would be good.
The long-awaited day finally arrived. For the results of the interview test, all prospective students had to come directly to campus.
I felt tension and anticipation as I walked towards the part of the building designated for the announcement.
When I arrived, the atmosphere there was very lively. Many other prospective students were also flocking to find their names on the list posted on the notice board. I tried to stay calm, even though my heart was beating fast.
With full hope, I started looking for my name on the list.
Looking and reading each name carefully, it felt like time was passing very slowly. Soon, my gaze fell on the line showing the results.
“Mikayla… Mikayla…,” I said in my heart, trying to find my name. When my eyes finally stopped on one spot, I couldn’t believe what I saw. My name was listed there. “Accepted!”
