Chapter 70
Rudolf's POV
“I started about three months ago, after everything that happened. I felt like this house needed a change. Not just to make us more comfortable, but also to make it a new place to start everything,” I said, feeling our hard times again.
“I know, this may sound a little sudden, but I feel like this change is necessary for us to move forward,” I continued, trying to explain my intentions very clearly.
Mikayla was silent for a moment, probably pondering everything I said. “I appreciate all the effort you put in. How dedicated you are to us,” she replied sincerely, her voice full of gratitude.
Hearing that made me feel even more confident in my decision. “Mikayla, this house is where we will create many beautiful memories. We will make this place a symbol of revival and happiness for our family.”
She nodded slowly, looking calmer. “Yes, Rudolf. Let’s live full of love and create meaningful memories here,” she replied, holding my hand.
We soon went to bed in the same room. That night, after a long and tiring day, I also slept soundly because I was very tired. A beautiful dream about the future and family happiness came to me.
The next morning, I heard the sound of activity in the kitchen. The tempting aroma of cooking also wafted in, making my stomach growl. “Hmm, so delicious!” I thought as I tried to open my eyes and get out of bed.
I immediately approached Mikayla who was in the kitchen. “What are you cooking?” I asked, curious about the breakfast she was preparing.
She smiled broadly. “I’m cooking a vegetable omelet and toast. I want to make a special breakfast for all of us!” she answered while skillfully cutting vegetables and stirring eggs.
Seeing She so cheerful and enthusiastic in the kitchen made me feel proud. “Wow, that sounds great. No one will be able to refuse your homemade breakfast,” I said, walking over to her and helping her.
The children ran into the kitchen, still sleepy but unable to ignore the delicious aroma. “Mommy, I want breakfast!” Emma shouted excitedly, followed by Daniel who looked impatient.
“Okay, breakfast will be ready soon! Who wants to help Mommy?” Mikayla asked, and both of them immediately raised their hands, wanting to get involved.
It was a heartwarming scene. We all moved around excitedly, Mikayla leading the way, while the kids helped set the table and set out the dishes.
With laughter and jokes, the morning was a warm and welcoming one. I felt so grateful to be here, watching my family grow and develop together, creating new memories in a new home too.
“With this many rasters, we need more chairs!” I joked, making the kids laugh as they tried to arrange the seats.
Mikayla's POV
While Rudolf was off to work and the kids were off to school with the babysitter, I took the opportunity to enjoy some alone time in our new home. As I was relaxing in the living room, my eyes fell on the photo album that was sitting on the table.
Ah, this is so impressive. I decided to open the album and think back to the wonderful memories we had. As I flipped through the pages, I smiled at the photos of our family, especially the ones we had at the house by the beach.
Having them in the album made it easier to look at anytime. The pictures reminded me of how much fun we had there—playing in the sand, laughing, and sharing precious moments. Each photo held a story and emotion that made my heart flutter.
I paused on one photo where we were all smiling in the sunshine. “This is such a perfect moment,” I murmured, remembering how happy each of us was. Rudolf seemed so in love with us at that moment, and I felt more grateful than ever to have a family like this.
As I continued to look through the album, I remembered how hard our struggles were before and how we supported each other. This new house was a symbol of our revival and all the hopes we had for the future.
“Hopefully we can create more beautiful memories here,” I said to myself, feeling excited to take the kids to the beach again soon.
After a while, I felt more excited. I closed the album and resolved to spend the rest of the day thinking about activities we could do with the kids when they got home. Maybe we could go to the park or even plan a small picnic in the backyard.
While waiting for my family to come home, I tried making dimsum. Well, now I don't need a personal chef to help me make delicious dishes. Let me learn by myself, because I feel traumatized by yesterday's incident with Chef Amarta.
With new enthusiasm and determination to get back into the kitchen, I started looking for recipes. After finding some interesting ideas, I started preparing the ingredients.
I took out the flour, meat, vegetables, and spices needed. As I carefully prepared everything, it felt like I was back in the world of creativity and freedom in the kitchen. It was an opportunity to empower myself and overcome my fears.
With my hands starting to move, I mixed the minced meat with garlic, spring onions, and a little soy sauce. As I kneaded the dough, I remembered how much fun it was to make dishes with Rudolf and the kids. We would always laugh and joke around while working in the kitchen.
Once the dough was ready, I started to assemble the dim sum skins one by one, filling them with the prepared meat mixture. Each sheet I formed reminded me of how much fun it was to make my own food with my hands, although I must admit it was a bit challenging.
“If this is how it is done, this dim sum must be delicious!” I said to myself with a smile, feeling a burning passion.
After I finished filling and arranging the dim sum, I prepared the steamer and started cooking everything. The fragrant aroma began to waft in, and at that moment, the feeling of anxiety slowly disappeared.
Simple but meaningful, each step felt like I was taking back control of my life. Realizing that despite the trauma, I could rise and try to conquer my own fear.
