Chapter 89
Mikayla's POV
After finishing eating, I looked around again. The students around me seemed to be joking and chatting, and I felt like joining in but still felt nervous. It seemed like they had taken this exam before and were enjoying the company, while I felt a little isolated.
However, suddenly one of the students approached. "Hey, how was your exam?" she asked with a friendly smile.
"The exam was quite challenging, but I tried my best," I replied, feeling a little more comfortable.
"Ah, I hope you get good results! We're just relaxing here. Want to join?" she offered, inviting me to join her classmates.
In my heart, I felt a little hesitant but moved to take this opportunity. There was nothing wrong with getting to know and socializing with new people, especially in a place that was now part of my life.
Finally, I nodded and joined them, hoping to build a new, better relationship and celebrate this achievement with them. Who knows, this could be the beginning of much happiness on this campus!
“I see a wolf in you, who are you?” asked her with a big smile.
I was surprised to hear her question. “How did she know?” The question flooded my mind. I had not explained to anyone about my feelings as if there was a wolf in me, which gave me more spirit and strength.
“You don’t need to be afraid. We are the same as you,” she continued, realizing my nervousness. “In this world, humans and werewolves do live side by side. Did you just find out? I thought you were still new to being a werewolf…”
Confusion and curiosity began to flow within me. “Werewolf?” I said softly, trying to digest what she said. I stared at him, wondering what world he was referring to. It seemed like he was talking about something bigger than just exams or everyday life on campus.
“I didn’t know werewolves were real… I feel like I’ve become one,” I answered carefully, expressing feelings I had been holding back. “I feel stronger and more motivated, like there’s another side to me.”
My new friend smiled happily, as if she understood what I was feeling. “That’s the beauty of being a werewolf. We have the power to face any challenge. If you feel that way, then there’s great potential in you.”
I relaxed a little, feeling a deep understanding. “So, you feel this way too? What does being a werewolf mean to you?” I asked curiously.
“Like having the power to be yourself and not be afraid to face the world. We can support each other and share experiences,” she replied enthusiastically. “Let’s explore together. We can learn and grow from each other.”
Hearing all this made my heart flutter. Not just as a new student, but also as someone who was just beginning to understand the power that lies within. There was a sense of relief and acceptance that I was not alone in this journey.
“Thank you… I really appreciate it,” I said sincerely. The genuine smile on her face gave me new hope and confidence.
It seemed that I had not only found new friends, but also understood something deeper about myself and the opportunities that awaited me. In this world, who knows what could happen.
After chatting to my heart's content and feeling calmer, I decided to go home. The longing to be with Rudolf and the kids grew stronger, and I wanted to share today's experiences with them immediately. The campus said that the test results would be out a week before the next test, and I couldn't wait.
Before going home, I took the time to buy a sponge cake. Since yesterday, I had been craving that cake, and it felt like a little reward for myself after all the effort I had gone through. With high spirits, I stepped into the cake shop that I had determined.
As I entered the shop, the tempting aroma of cakes immediately greeted me. All the cakes looked very appetizing, but my eyes immediately fell on the sponge cake that I had been dreaming of. After buying the cake, I turned to leave, but suddenly I saw a familiar figure.
“Ethan!” I shouted, surprised to see my ex-boyfriend at the door of the store. A sense of awkwardness immediately came over me. We both froze for a moment, then he smiled.
“Mikayla! Long time no see,” he said, his tone cheerful but with a hint of tension in the air. His face looked fine, and I honestly didn’t know what to do.
“Yeah, long enough,” I replied, trying to stay calm even as my heart raced. We both knew our relationship was over, but this was a reunion that brought back a lot of memories.
“I saw you on campus. How was your test?” he asked, interested.
“Fine, I just finished my college admissions test. Hoping for the best,” I said, trying not to reminisce. “And you? How are you?”
He nodded slowly. “I just got back from out of town. Working on a project here. Glad to hear you’re doing well.”
We chatted for a while, and despite the warmth, I could feel the unease hanging over our conversation. But regardless, I didn't want to get caught up in old memories.
“Okay, I have to go. Here's a cake for the family. Good luck with your project, Ethan,” I said with a sincere smile, trying to end the conversation.
“Thank you, Mikayla. Good luck on your test too!” he replied.
I walked out of the shop, feeling mixed feelings. Hoping that this meeting could be a good closure for the past.
After arriving home, I saw the babysitter looking anxious.
“What's wrong?” I asked, feeling something was wrong.
“Emma has a fever. I've given her medicine, but she refused, instead she grew hair all over her body,” the babysitter answered in a panicked tone. “I'm scared and sorry I left your daughter alone.”
Hearing that, my heart skipped a beat, and without thinking, I immediately ran to the room where Emma was. When I entered, the sight made my heart ache.
Emma was shivering on the bed, her face pale. It looked like more than just a fever, there was something different. As I got closer, I saw fine hairs starting to appear on her skin. Immediately, I remembered what Rudolf had said about werewolves.
