Chapter 43

Zara's POV
“Yes, we are both involved. She has a good background in aviation technology, while I am more into the health and safety aspects of testing,” he replied.
Then, honestly and attentively, I tried to understand more about the Two Sides of Dr. Leo. There may be a lot he is hiding, but I realized that in order to truly understand who he is, I had to be willing to listen and allow for a deeper explanation.
Tonight, it was a mix of fact and fiction, and it seemed like I would continue to dig deeper into this mysterious world. Cautiously, I felt that the answers I was asking for might be more dangerous than I thought.
The next day, I had to go back to work at the hospital. Even though I tried to focus, my curiosity about Doctor Leo and all the unanswered information from last night was still burning in my mind. On one hand, I knew I might be too suspicious of many things, but on the other hand, there was a strong urge to find out the truth.
On the way to the hospital, I sat next to Doctor Leo in the car. The atmosphere seemed calm, and we didn't talk much. I tried to keep myself professional, but my mind kept spinning about the night before.
When I had just arrived at the hospital, a nurse suddenly appeared in a panic. "Doc, there is a patient who complained that she hasn't had her period for more than 4 months," she said, looking anxious.
"Okay, I'll check her," I answered immediately, showing my professional attitude.
We rushed to the treatment room, and on the way, I tried to prepare myself to help the patient as much as I could. Sometimes, whenever a patient comes with a complaint like this, there can be many possibilities that need to be explored.
Upon arriving at the treatment room, I saw a woman who looked restless lying on the bed. Doctor Leo immediately approached the patient and asked about her symptoms. Meanwhile, I prepared notes to detail the available information.
After hearing her explanation, I immediately explained to her, “There are other possibilities why a woman’s menstruation stops, such as pregnancy, stress, drastic weight changes, or hormonal problems. Let’s do some initial examinations to find out the condition more clearly.”
The woman seemed a little calmer after hearing my explanation. Leo and I began to do a physical examination and prepared some additional tests to determine the cause of the complaint.
Since working together in this room, I began to feel a strong chemistry between Leo and myself, and the panic that hit the patient made this situation seem to return to focus on our profession and responsibilities. Sometimes, in critical situations, we can see the essence of life and the priorities that must be prioritized.
After a while, we managed to collect initial data. In my heart, I tried to put aside my curiosity about Leo for a moment. This task requires all my attention, and helping the patient is the most important thing right now.
When all the tests were available, Leo and I did the analysis. Hopefully, the results will provide clarity for the woman, and more than that, hopefully, this will be an opportunity for us to provide the support she needs. In this busyness, I feel that focusing on work is the best way to distract my mind from the burning curiosity about Leo's world and the mysteries surrounding it.
I am confused by this strange phenomenon because it is not only once or twice that I have heard of women of productive age experiencing early menopause. The increasing number of patients who come with similar complaints makes me feel that something is wrong, but I have difficulty solving this problem. In my heart, I keep wondering if there is a bigger factor affecting the health of women here.
After finishing with the patient, I decided to find out more. Quickly, I returned to meet my friend, Ismaya, in the quiet doctor's room. "What do you think?" I asked, hoping to get a sharper perspective on the situation.
Ismaya nodded, indicating that she was ready to discuss it. "Based on the research I did, there are several factors that can cause early menopause. This can be related to hormonal problems, severe stress, poor diet, and environmental factors. But there could also be a more specific cause related to the lifestyle in this city.”
“Yes, that’s what I thought,” I replied, as if there was a common thread connecting all of this. “But if some women have no previous medical history, what could be the cause?”
Ismaya seemed to think for a moment. “That’s it. Some studies have shown that some certain chemical substances or pollutants can affect reproductive health. In this area, it’s possible that people’s livelihoods or exposure to chemicals could have an impact.”
Hearing Ismaya’s explanation, I felt anxious but also enlightened. Could there be hidden things happening around us that might be affecting the health of the women here? Suspicion began to build in me, an investigative nature.
“If we study this in more depth, we can share information and provide solutions for patients. We need to warn them about this potential danger,” I said enthusiastically.
Ismaya nodded in agreement. “Right. We need to find out more, maybe conduct a survey about the lifestyle or medical history of the patients and their families. Maybe there could be a pattern.”
The puzzle deepened, and working with Ismaya gave me a newfound strength to analyze the situation. The two of us continued to talk, devising plans to conduct further research while making sure to keep our focus on the patients who needed medical attention.
One thing was for sure, I was determined to learn more about this phenomenon, regardless of the discomfort it might cause. The health and well-being of the women here were my top priority, and I would fight to make sure they got the answers they needed.
