Chapter 50

Zara's POV
Hearing Leo’s explanation made me feel a little strange. A sense of security and confidence began to slowly return. Maybe I was just too sensitive about other people’s opinions, especially her family.
“So, it was just a joke?” I asked, though a little doubt still clouded my mind. “But why did she make a joke like that? Was it her way of expressing her dissatisfaction or dislike for me?”
Leo shook his head. “Cindy often jokes about weird things. She doesn’t mean to attack you or put you down. She’s just silly, and that’s just her nature.” He reached for my hand and held it, adding to the sense of calm in my heart.
“Just go with the flow of our time together,” he continued. “Sometimes it takes time to build a relationship as a family. But I want you to know that you’re my wife, and that’s the most important thing.”
I looked at Leo, feeling a little relieved and grateful to have a husband who was always ready to support me. Despite the challenges ahead, I felt excited to build a good relationship with Cindy. Maybe I could help pave the way for our closeness as sisters in the future.
With a smile, I responded, “Thank you, Leo. I want to try harder to get along with Cindy.” After talking, I felt relieved and more prepared for the days ahead. Today would be a new opportunity to build relationships, both with Leo and with my new family. With hope in my heart, I was determined to go through all of this with a positive mind.
Today, I decided to go back to work. After all the events that happened in the past few days, I felt confused about what to do at home without doing much activity. At work, at least I could distract myself and stay productive.
As soon as I arrived at the office, the atmosphere was cheerful and lively. My best friend, Ismaya, immediately approached me and smiled broadly. "Wow, it looks like there's a newlywed here!" she teased, her eyes sparkling with jokes. I blushed at her chatter.
Of all the things we've talked about so far, I've talked more about Orion, my ex-husband-to-be, and not Leo. For some reason, I feel awkward discussing my feelings for Leo with Ismaya. Maybe because our relationship is still very new and I am still adapting to my new role as a wife.
Hearing Ismaya's teasing, I could only smile awkwardly. "Come on, Ismaya. Don't make a scene. This just happened," I replied, trying to hide my embarrassment even though I was free to react.
"But seriously, congratulations! Who would have thought you would get married when everyone thought you were still struggling with Orion,” Ismaya said, her voice full of enthusiasm. “Since when did you move so fast? Weren’t you and Orion a strong couple?”
Her words made me think a little. Even though I once had strong feelings for Orion, things seemed different now. “Yes, I know. But things have changed, and I’m with Leo now. I’m trying to leave the past behind and look forward,” I replied, trying to convince myself.
Ismaya nodded as if understanding the journey I was on. “They say when one door closes, another opens. Maybe this is the time for your new happiness,” she said, optimistically.
While talking to Ismaya, I remembered that Orion was still working in the same office. Even though my feelings for him had changed, there was a sense of nervousness that enveloped me when I thought about meeting him. **How will he react to seeing me with Leo after we get married?**
I hoped that everything would be okay. After everything that had happened, I wanted our relationship to remain calm and free of conflict.
The day went by quickly, and although I felt awkward when I was talking about marriage, I felt lucky to have a friend like Ismaya who always supported me. With renewed vigor and hope, I was ready to face whatever the days ahead brought, including the fact that Orion was still around.
After a few hours of work, I received a patient who came in complaining that she had not had her period for the past few months. This problem made me a little worried and curious. Given my background as a medical professional, I felt it was important to take this situation seriously immediately.
I decided to seek Leo's help, not only because he was my husband, but also because he was a doctor with extensive knowledge. Maybe he had some insight or scientific perspective that could help me solve this problem.
"Leo, can you help me for a moment?" I asked when we met in his office, trying to focus all my attention on this medical problem.
"Yes, what is it, Zara?" He looked at me attentively, but his gaze was filled with confusion.
"There is a patient who has not had her period for several months. “Maybe you can give me some input on what could be causing this?” I asked, hoping he could explain it from a medical perspective.
However, Leo answered calmly enough. “Honey, I don’t know. It’s more about hormones and certain medical conditions. I’m more focused on the scientific aspects of the case that relate to current research,” he said, his tone indicating that he didn’t want to get too involved in the matter.
I felt a little disappointed by that answer. Sure, Leo had a more scientific approach, but in situations like this, I felt that sometimes it was important to consider the emotional and psychological aspects of the patient. “But Leo, this is about a person’s health. It’s not just about data and statistics. We need to consider the woman’s feelings and what they might be going through,” I said, hoping he could grasp the urgency of the situation.
Leo seemed to pause for a moment as if thinking. He probably realized that I was trying to find a solution that was more than just a diagnosis. “You’re right, Zara. Sometimes, we need to look at the human aspects of each case. However, if I’m not directly involved, I’ll have to recommend some lab tests to rule out medical factors,” he finally replied.
