Chapter 91

Zara's POV
When I saw Kayra lying weak with a fever, my panic immediately shot up. “Mom, why is Kayra’s body hot?” I asked, facing the fear that enveloped me. Kayra only closed her eyes, and her helplessness tore my heart apart.
My mother, with a worried but calm face, immediately answered, “We have to give her a fever-reducing medicine, Zara. It might just be a common fever, but we need to monitor it.” She gave Kayra the appropriate medicine, and I hoped it would help reduce her fever.
However, after a while, the situation worsened. Kayra suddenly vomited, and when I saw her losing strength, my soul felt very heavy. “Mom, we have to take her to the hospital now!” I said, my voice full of panic.
My mother nodded, immediately picked Kayra up, and carried her to the car. On the way to the hospital, feelings of worry and anxiety enveloped my mind. I felt as if time was moving too slowly, and every second felt like an eternity.
When we arrived at the hospital, I rushed to ask for help. The medical team immediately checked Kayra, and I felt a glimmer of hope as they took my daughter for further treatment. While waiting, I stood outside the examination room, unable to sit still because I was nervous.
Finally, the doctor came out to explain. He looked firm but gentle. “Mom, Kayra has a fever caused by an infection. We need to run some tests to determine the exact cause,” he explained calmly.
My heart trembled at the news. “Is it serious, Doc?” I asked, trying to hold back my deep worry.
“We will do our best to treat her. Right now, we will give her an IV and medication to stabilize her condition,” the doctor replied, trying to ease my fears. “We need to monitor her and run some further tests. Please wait in the waiting room, and we will take good care of Kayra.”
Hearing the doctor’s explanation gave me some relief, although my worries still clouded my feelings. I returned to the waiting room with Mom, all thoughts floating in my mind. The desire to protect Kayra grew stronger, and I was determined to do whatever it took to make sure she got the best.
We waited for the news for several hours, occasionally taking deep breaths in silence. Every second felt like it was being crushed by anxiety, but hope remained, embedded in all the efforts and love that bound us. When the doctor called us, the courage in my heart strengthened my steps.
“What about Kayra, doc?” I asked, ready to hear everything he had to say.
The doctor took a deep breath, then explained, “After conducting an examination and several tests, it appears that Kayra has a viral infection, possibly a type of virus that is common in children. We will provide the right treatment to fight this infection.”
With that, a sense of relief enveloped my heart even though there was still some anxiety left. “Will she be okay? How long will she have to be hospitalized?” I asked, hoping for further reassurance.
“Most children recover well from this type of infection. However, Kayra will need to be hospitalized for a few days so we can monitor her condition and give her fluids and medicines to help lower her fever,” he explained, explaining gently.
“Will she feel sick?” I asked again, feeling devastated at the thought of my daughter having to go through the treatment process.
“The IV and the medicine given will help her feel more comfortable. She may feel tired and out of sorts for the next few days, but that is part of the recovery process. We will do our best to make sure she is comfortable,” the doctor replied reassuringly.
Hearing that she would receive good care and would hopefully recover soon gave me a little peace in my heart. “Thank you, Doc. I really appreciate everything you are doing for Kayra,” I said, feeling grateful for the efforts the medical team had made for my daughter.
After the doctor left us, I waited for the chance to see Kayra. When the door opened and I was allowed to enter the room, I found my daughter lying on the bed, with an IV attached to her little arm. She looked tired, but her face still held a little happiness when she recognized my presence.
“Kayra, honey, Mommy is here,” I said softly, coming over to give her a gentle hug.
She opened her eyes and smiled, even though she looked tired. Her voice was weak, but it was enough to warm my heart.
“I’m here. We will get through this together. We will stay here until you feel better,” I stroked her hair, trying to calm her and show her that she was not alone.
When the two of us were in the room, my heart was filled with hope. Even though the situation is stressful and today is difficult, I am confident that Kayra will fight and recover well. My love and support will always be with her, and as her mother, I will not let her feel alone in facing all of this.
Now, with every passing second, I will continue to pray that everything will go well for Kayra. I want to give so much hope for her bright future, and I know that despite the obstacles, we will always be together on this journey.
I waited beside Kayra while she was sick, taking time off to make sure I was always there for her during this recovery. When I saw her lying weak, my heart was torn, but I tried to stay strong for her. It was part of our journey together, and I was determined to support her.
Ismaya came to visit us today. Seeing her, I felt a little better. “How is Kayra, Zara?” she asked with concern, her gaze reflecting deep concern.
“Her condition has improved a little. Her fever has started to go down after receiving treatment, and she seems calmer today,” I replied, feeling relieved as I shared this news. “But he’s still very tired and doesn’t want to move around much.”
