Chapter 81

Zara's POV
Not long after, he said yes and we agreed to meet at a cafe not far from my place. When I arrived, a combination of anxiety and relief filled my mind. About half an hour after we met, Orion arrived and greeted me with a smile.
“Zara! It’s good to see you. What happened?” he asked immediately, his tone full of concern.
“I need your help. There’s been some alarming news about human egg harvesting happening again. Many women are reporting early menopause,” I said, trying to explain the situation.
Orion listened intently. “This is serious. This shouldn’t be happening. What can we do?” he asked, immediately realizing the gravity of the situation.
“I feel like we need to find out more about what’s happening and how to protect Kayra. If this is true, we need to find a way to tell people and prevent this from spreading,” I explained, a sense of excitement but also anxiety.
Orion nodded in agreement. “We should work together to gather information. Maybe we can find out about organizations that focus on this egg harvesting and how to combat it.”
We discussed a variety of options, from reaching out to health agencies, to forming discussion groups, to contacting individuals with experience in the field. Every idea we came up with felt hopeful.
After a while of discussing, I felt a little calmer. Even though the situation was uncertain, having a plan brought optimism that we could do something about this threat.
“Zara, no matter what happens, I’m here to help you. We have to keep Kayra and you safe,” Orion said sincerely.
“Thank you, Orion. I really appreciate your support. And I want Kayra to grow up safe and happy. We have to do what’s best for her,” I replied, feeling grateful for his commitment.
After the meeting, I went home with a new sense of determination. Despite the shreds of doubt, I felt that together, we could achieve something meaningful for our family. I would do my best to face any challenges, for myself, for Kayra, and to keep hope alive for our life with Leo.
Life goes on, and even though there are many uncertainties lurking, I am confident that love and courage will carry us forward.
The thought of Leo and the possibility of him returning to Earth haunted every beat of my heart. What if he couldn’t come back? Would I have to prepare to be a widow and Kayra grow up without a father figure by her side? Sadness enveloped my heart, and even though I tried to put on a brave face in front of Mom, I knew she could see every bit of helplessness I was experiencing.
Mom always had a way of looking into my soul, looking into my eyes as if she knew every struggle that was going on inside me. “Zara, don’t worry too much. We don’t know what’s going to happen, and we have to stay optimistic,” Mom said softly, trying to comfort me as we sat together in the living room.
“Mom, I’m trying to stay calm, but this uncertainty is so painful. Every day I keep thinking about him, and I don’t know what’s going to happen,” I said, my voice shaking as I shared the burden of my anxiety.
“Zara, remember that you are strong. Whatever happens, you are not alone. We will face it together. Your baby, Kayra, will always be the reason to keep moving forward,” Mom tried to reassure me.
Even though her intentions were good, a million questions still swirled in my mind. The worries made me feel trapped in a dark, scary fog. But when Mom hugged me tightly, I could find a little peace.
Not long after, Zena entered the room with a big smile on her face, as if banishing all worries in an instant. “Zara! I got good news!” she said cheerfully, full of positive energy.
“What is it, Zena?” I asked, curious to hear the new light she brought.
“I got a job at a big company! They want to hire me after graduation yesterday,” her said, her face shining with enthusiasm.
“Wow, that’s amazing, Zena! Congratulations!” I replied, feeling overflowing with happiness when I heard the good news. Seeing her happy made me a little distracted from my sad thoughts about Leo.
Zena continued, “I’m so grateful. This is the first step to pursuing my dream, and I want to show that I can be independent!” She was clearly proud of this achievement.
“And you will, Zena! We all believe in you. This is a good start!” I said, encouraging her.
The happy moment of Zena’s achievement seemed like a ray of hope amidst the darkness of my mind. When one part of my life felt uncertain, there was also a part that shone with success and happiness.
By trying to focus on Zena’s happiness, I tried to provide support for her. Every laugh and smile we shared gave a little solace to my heavy heart. My thoughts drifted back to a small hope—even in the darkness, life would go on.
When one unexpected door closes, another opens. I must remain optimistic and fight for Kayra, for Zena, and for the never-ending hope of the power of love and family. Imagining this challenging journey of life, I was determined not to give in to the sadness that always lurks.
That night, as Kayra fell asleep on my lap, I felt a sense of calm. Small moments like these made me aware of the power that lies within a mother—the power to love, to protect, and to give hope even when circumstances are not always possible.
Zena, with her happiness after getting a job, gave me more inspiration. Her enthusiastic nature seemed to bring a positive aura, and I felt like I got a new breath of energy from the energy she brought. We shared dinner and all the stories about each other's lives, and for the first time in a while, I was able to forget my fears a little.
