Chapter 71
Leo’s POV
However, when an emotional scene occurred, my gaze shifted to Zara’s reaction, who was sitting next to me. I saw tears welling up in her eyes, and I was immediately reminded of her loss. Empathy surged through me again.
“Zara, are you okay?” I whispered, meeting her sad gaze.
She nodded, but her eyes spoke louder than words. “I’m fine,” she replied, but I could tell she was still struggling with her feelings. In moments like this, I felt challenged to stay supportive of her.
Cindy turned back to the film, and I tried to get Zara to focus on the storyline. “Come on, let’s enjoy this film together, Zara. “After the movie, we can talk more about what happened,” I said, trying to reassure her.
She nodded again, but her smile seemed forced. “Okay, Leo. Let’s enjoy it,” she said, but as she tried to smile, there was a sadness hidden beneath it.
For the rest of the movie, the unease continued to plague our minds, but more laughter and warmth began to flow. After the movie ended, I tried to find a way to keep the line of communication open with Zara.
“Zara, I know you feel lost, but we can explore it together,” I said, placing my hand on her wrist. “I’m here for you.”
She stared at me for a moment, and for a moment I felt a glimmer of hope in her eyes. “Thank you, Leo. You’ve helped me so much. I promise to try harder to accept this.”
At that moment, I realized how much it meant to have each other’s support—my family and Zara’s. The warmth of that moment showed us that we were not alone and that we could lovingly share our burdens.
The three of us talked more about movies and other fun things to keep our moods upbeat. I know that the road ahead is still long, but with the love we have and the spirit of supporting each other, we can overcome any obstacles that come our way.
Today, as Zara’s pregnancy enters its seventh month, I feel a mixture of happiness and gratitude. Time flies, and before I know it, we are getting closer to the long-awaited moment—the birth of our baby. I feel excited to accompany Zara for her routine check-up at the obstetrician.
When we arrived at the hospital, we were warmly greeted by the doctor. She already knew us well, and I could see a cheerful smile on her face. “Welcome, Zara! It’s been seven months, huh? How does it feel?” he asked as we entered the room.
“It feels like it’s gone by fast, Doc. But I also feel heavier!” Zara replied with a light laugh, but there was a sense of joy behind her words.
The doctor chuckled. “That’s normal. Now it’s time to check the baby’s development and explain some things you need to know at this stage of pregnancy.”
As the doctor summarized all the relevant information, I felt a sense of excitement wash over me. I wanted to hear every detail about our baby’s development and what we could do to keep Zara and her developing fetus healthy.
As the ultrasound began, I stared intently at the screen. Our baby’s outline began to emerge, and I couldn’t help but be amazed as I watched him move. “Wow, that’s her!” I said excitedly.
The doctor explained, “This is a crucial time in a baby’s development. At seven months, babies start gaining weight and size, and they may become more active. Make sure you all pay attention to your baby’s movements—how often he or she moves throughout the day.”
I looked at Zara, and she looked completely mesmerized by her baby. “So, what should we do for the rest of this time?” she asked, wanting to make sure she was doing everything she could to keep him healthy.
The doctor patiently explained, “Eat nutritious foods with enough calories. Make sure you get the protein, vitamins, and minerals you need. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water, and preferably do some light exercise like walking, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.”
I listened intently, remembering every detail and following the doctor’s instructions. This moment felt meaningful—knowing how to stay healthy and support our baby’s development was my top priority.
“And don’t hesitate to get as much rest as possible. Mental health is important, too. If there is anything disturbing or if you feel anxious, we can arrange it together,” the doctor added.
Zara nodded in understanding, looking increasingly eager to prepare everything. “I promise to do everything that is said, Doc. Thank you for the guidance,” she said, a grateful smile on her face.
After the examination was over, we left the clinic feeling full of hope. “I am so grateful to be able to go through all of this with you, Leo. Every examination makes me feel closer to our baby,” Zara said with hope.
“Me too, Zara. Seeing the development of this baby makes me even more excited to welcome her into the world. We will do it together, every step of the way,” I replied, holding her hand tightly.
Zara smiled, showing calmness even though there was still worry lurking in her heart. As we walked to the car, I could feel the bond between us growing stronger. We knew that we were not only facing a pregnancy journey but also a life journey full of challenges and happiness.
After getting into the car, I started the engine and drove the car home. “So, what are our plans after this?” I asked, trying to catch my breath on the way, trying to focus on the hopeful future.
Zara thought for a moment before answering, “Maybe we could prepare the nursery? It would be a nice little step to welcome her.”
“Great! We could look for some suitable supplies and decorations. I can already imagine what the room will look like,” I said, imagining a warm and colorful place for our baby.
