Chapter 88

Zara's POV
One night, after Kayra fell asleep, I opened my laptop and began searching for more information about life on the planet where Orion and Letto had gone. With hope, I wanted to understand what they might face and how to support them from afar.
In my search, I found a lot of information about the culture, technology, and way of life there. This gave me a little insight into the challenges they might face and how they might adapt. Although confusion and uncertainty still clouded my mind, with each new piece of information I found, I felt a little more prepared.
In the midst of everything that was happening, I also tried to stay in touch with Ismaya. My mind became calmer when I could share and get support from her. We continue to discuss research developments and develop new plans to educate the public about steps they can take to protect themselves from threats.
With determined steps and love, I promise to keep moving forward, facing every challenge that comes. Together with Kayra, I will try to keep hopes and dreams alive, trying to create a safe and loving world. We will do this, even on a journey full of uncertainty.
Today was a much-anticipated day—a day off during Kayra’s immunization schedule. Early in the morning, I prepared myself, making sure everything was packed for the trip to the hospital. With Kayra in tow and my mother by my side, I felt a mixture of excitement and anxiety.
My mother might be tired, but I knew how much she wanted to be with me and Kayra. “Mom, thank you for coming with me. I know you’ve helped a lot,” I said, groaning at the fact that my mother was always there, even though she was also dealing with fatigue.
When we arrived at the hospital, I felt the tension as I waited for Kayra’s turn. It was hard to see my little child getting an injection. As the needle pierced her skin, Kayra’s cries echoed in the waiting room. My heart ached to hear her little screams, but I knew it was all for her health and future.
As soon as she got the injection, I immediately carried her and breastfed her. Seeing her calm down after getting milk from me made me feel better. The painful feeling of seeing her cry seemed to be paid off when I saw the cheerful smile on her face when she finished breastfeeding.
After the immunization process was complete, I wanted to give something special as a thank you to my mother who always accompanied and took care of Kayra. “Mom, how about we go to the mall? I want to buy something for you. You deserve it after all you’ve done,” I said, trying to cheer her up.
My mother smiled, though a little hesitantly. “Oh, no need, Zara. I’m just happy to help,” she said, not wanting to be a bother.
“No, Mom. You’ve sacrificed a lot of time for us. I want to buy you a ring as a gift. This is to show how much I appreciate all you’ve done,” I urged softly.
At the mall, we walked around while browsing jewelry stores. I had found a suitable ring, simple but beautiful—a symbol of gratitude and love for my mother. After buying it, I gave the ring with pride and affection. “Congratulations, Mom! This is for you!” I said, holding the ring out to my mother.
My mother was stunned for a moment, tears of emotion welling up in her eyes. “My child, thank you. I didn’t expect this, but I really appreciate it. You’re a really good kid,” she replied, with a genuine, gentle smile.
Seeing the happiness on my mother’s face filled my heart. We had a loving day in the joy of family. When we returned home, responsibility and affection turned into a force that bound us together, and I felt more excited about the days ahead.
When I returned from the mall, my heart felt warm after giving my mother the ring. Seeing the smile on her face made me feel proud and even more grateful for all the support she had given me.
When we arrived home, a warm atmosphere greeted us, and I saw Zena sitting in the living room, looking very excited. When I had just entered the house, she immediately caught my attention. “Sis, there’s something I want to talk to you about!” she said, her eyes sparkling.
“What is it, Zena?” I asked, feeling a little apprehensive when I saw her excitement.
“I want to get married,” she answered suddenly, in an excited tone.
I was surprised to hear that statement. This news came so suddenly; I didn’t expect her to take such a big step. “Get married? Zena, you just started working! Are you sure about this?” I asked, trying to get a sense of the decision she had just made.
Zena continued, “I know this seems fast, Zara, but I feel like it’s time. He’s very special to me, and I want to be with him forever.”
Hearing her words, I could feel the passion behind her decision despite the deep fear in my heart. She was still a spoiled child, and this change felt huge. “But Zena, you have to consider everything—the commitment, the responsibilities, and everything you’ll face after getting married. This isn’t a decision you can make without careful thought,” I said, trying to convey the importance of it all.
Zena looked calm, but she nodded, “I understand, Zara, and I’ve thought it through. We’ve been together for over a year. He supports me, and I feel confident that this is the right move.”
Every word she said confused me more and more. On one hand, I wanted to support my sister, but on the other hand, I felt that she was not ready to make such a big decision.
“So, what are your plans? Have you told Mom?” I asked, trying to be a good listener.
