Chapter 15 Take Advantage of Ian’s Golden Light
Olivia hurried downstairs. As soon as her arrival at the first floor, she saw a snow-white figure darting toward her feet. It quickly climbed her legs and nestled into her arms, stopping Zach and the other bodyguards in their tracks.
Other members of the Sinclair family noticed the little fox curled up in Olivia's embrace when she arrived on the first floor.
"Olivia, did this fox come with you?" Lauren was the first to respond, her surprise obvious. We have children here. "What if it bites somebody?"
"It is her fault! "I told her last night that pets are not permitted, but she did not listen!" Tom interjected, escalating the tension by entering the scene.
"This is my pet fox, and it will not harm anyone," Olivia said confidently, holding the fox firmly.
"Foxes are wild and difficult to tame. Does the fact that you say it will not harm people imply that it will not?" Owen Sinclair, a boy around Olivia's age and George's son, spoke up coldly, casting a skeptical look her way.
Tom quickly echoed Owen's sentiments. "Exactly!"
Sensing Tom's hostility, the little fox lifted its head from Olivia's arms and turned to face him, baring its teeth menacingly.
Tom quickly recoiled, pointing to the fox and exclaiming, "Look at it!"
Another terrified voice called out, "Mom! I am scared! Please make it go away."
At the age of six and a half, George's youngest daughter, Jessica Sinclair, sought refuge behind her mother's legs, clutching them tightly in fear.
Alexander entered the room and noticed the tense atmosphere. Olivia stood at the staircase, cradling the fox, while a group of family members surrounded her, their expressions reminiscent of a disciplinary council.
Alexander approached on his own, smiling coldly, and stated, "The fox is under my protection, as promised to Olivia. Please address any objections to me.
The revelation astounded his cousins; they couldn't believe Alexander had permitted the fox's presence.
When Megan heard Alexander's statement, she stepped forward and addressed him gently, "Alexander, we're not targeting Olivia. It's just that the fox and Grandma..."
She hesitated, but everyone present understood what she was saying.
Rachel, who disliked furry pets, had always maintained a strict no-pet policy in the house. Given her fragile health, no one dared to question her authority. She was currently on vacation at a mountain resort; returning home to find a fox in the house could jeopardize her health.
Megan's indirect reminder warned Alexander against meddling in every aspect of Olivia's life.
Alexander's gaze flickered to Megan, and he gave a faint smile. "I'll discuss it with Grandma," he said, his tone firm despite his smile.
Turning to the workers behind him, Alexander gave the following instructions: "Build the pet house on the east side of the garden and set up a shed."
Only then did the crowd notice the workers carrying boxes of wood behind Alexander, indicating that preparations for the fox's shelter and supplies had already begun.
Though Olivia had received Alexander's assurance the night before, she had not expected his proactive actions, including preparations for the fox's home, early the next morning.
She tightened her grip on Emily's hand, abandoning her original plan to return the fox to the rental house. With Alexander by her side, she felt compelled to return his protection.
It would be unfair to let him down.
Tom and the others avoided mentioning Olivia's fox-raising activities due to Alexander's assertive demeanor. Instead, they eagerly awaited Rachel's return to see how Alexander handled Olivia's situation then.
Olivia, unaware of their thoughts, ascended the stairs alongside Emily. After changing clothes and eating breakfast, she carefully brushed the fox's fur until it gleamed. She left the house cradling Emily, satisfied with her efforts.
Olivia left at 10:30 a.m. because her departure had been delayed. Although she assumed Ian had already left for work, the previous night's commotion compelled her to apologize to him first.
To her surprise, Ian was at home.
He sat casually, dressed impeccably in a suit that was clearly his work attire, with an aura of golden radiance enveloping him, giving him a dazzling appearance.
Olivia approached him with Emily nestled in her arms, blinking to adjust to the golden light.
"Mr. Whitman, you're here," she said.
Ian looked at her with a deep gaze, keeping his expression cool and composed. He remarked, parting his thin lips slightly, "You mentioned you'd come early."
Olivia was taken aback by his words, noting, 'Ian is dressed for work at home. Can it be because I mentioned apologizing, and he is waiting for me here?
'That doesn't appear plausible. After all, Ian's time is worth tens of thousands of dollars per minute, correct?'
Olivia's primary goal was to visit Ian, but Ian was more interested in her use of the word "early."
Ian was determined to keep his word, and Olivia's promise to arrive early had stuck with him, prompting him to wait.
However, he had not anticipated her definition of "early" being 10:30 a.m.
"I sincerely apologize for last night. My fox caused you trouble. As an apology, I carved this pendant myself," Olivia explained, handing him a bag containing the pendant. Olivia chose this hand-carved gift, which had a blessing inscription on the back, because Ian's golden glow rendered the magic card ineffective against him.
The pendant, made from gemstones imbued with spiritual power, had pure effects. Olivia hoped to build a positive rapport with Ian, who had the golden glow, with the goal of leveraging his unique ability in the future.
Ian accepted the bag containing the pendant but did not immediately open it. Instead, he gestured for Zach to retrieve it, indicating that he accepted Olivia's apology.
Olivia noticed this and reminded him, "You must carry this pendant with you for it to be effective."
Ian paused briefly as he handed the bag to the butler before waving him off and pocketing the bag.
Ian rose and left, satisfied that the apology process had been completed.
Olivia walked alongside him, holding the small fox in her arms.
Olivia reached out discreetly as they walked, attempting to capture some of Ian's shimmering golden light. To her surprise, she managed to capture two golden dots in her palm.
Her eyes widened with surprise.
"What are you doing?" Ian inquired coldly, clearly noticing her subtle actions.
Olivia, caught off guard, kept her cool and quickly devised an excuse. "Since you're leaving, could you give me a ride? I happen to have plans as well."
Ian gave her a suspicious look, his thoughts drifting to the accessory she had just presented as an apology.
Olivia appeared to be multitasking effectively by sending one accessory as an apology while also requesting a ride. Ian noticed her resourcefulness.
Despite these thoughts, Ian's expression remained unchanged. He just nodded reluctantly in response.
Olivia climbed into the car, holding the little fox in her arms.
Ian returned his gaze to the fox, scrutinizing it. Olivia quickly reassured him, "I bathed it after bringing it home last night. It is clean."
Ian pursed his lips, his only question, "Where are you headed?"
Olivia blinked and said, "I'm off to the Edwards Villa."
She intended to make some extra money.
