Chapter 7 Withdraw the Cooperation with the Parker Family

Alexander's intervention brought Kayla to her senses, causing her to abruptly stop all of her actions.

Simultaneously, the commotion drew attention from those inside the villa, prompting Kenneth to emerge.

"What's going on?" he asked.

Kenneth, the current head of the Sinclair Group, was well-known in the media and financial community. Kayla recognized him and smiled, temporarily putting aside her conflict with Olivia.

"Mr. Kenneth, I am Paul's wife. It is a pleasant surprise to see you here.

Kenneth asked, "Mrs. Parker, hello." He looked at Kayla, Olivia, and Alexander with the same expression. "Do you have anything to discuss?"

Kenneth's stature made formalities unnecessary. Despite being aware of the Parker family's connection to Olivia, he maintained a level of patience, assuming they were there to advise her on her lifestyle.

Kayla was taken aback and unsure how to respond. Kenneth's humble inquiry into her intentions surprised her, and her pride grew.

Despite the fact that he was the head of the Sinclair Group, he let her dictate the conversation.

It emphasized the Parker Group's significance in the eyes of the Sinclair Group president.

Kayla's posture straightened out subconsciously as her emotions settled. "Indeed, I have something to discuss."

Kayla, beaming with pride, motioned for Nicole to join her side. "Mr. Kenneth, this is my daughter, Nicole."

Nicole immediately greeted him respectfully. "Mr. Kenneth, it's a pleasure to meet you."

Kayla continued, "I'm aware of the landmark project in Haereth. The government intends to select eight students from four prestigious universities to represent the city's image in a promotional video. The final decision is up to the Sinclair Group."

She went on, "However, due to certain circumstances, my daughter's spot was given to someone else. I'm here hoping that the Sinclair Group can help us resolve this. It's only a small favor to ask."

Kenneth frowned slightly.

He was aware of the situation, but since Ethan handled such matters, he refrained from getting involved.

Kenneth disliked favoritism.

However, given the Parker family's role in Olivia's upbringing, he couldn't help but consider the request for a little longer.

He thought of it as a way to repay their kindness towards Olivia. Kenneth relented, saying, "I'll look into this matter. Who took your daughter's spot? I'll have my secretary look into this."

"Olivia," Kayla almost couldn't wait to respond.

Kenneth paused as he reached for his phone, then looked up, clearly uncertain. "Who did you say?"

"Olivia," Kayla repeated, assuming he had misunderstood, and pointed to Olivia beside her.

"She is the one. This girl was previously adopted by my family, but she is troublesome. She is not only irritable, but she also lies frequently. I never imagined that her biological parents worked for the Sinclairs. I do not want to speak negatively about a child, but one's character is ingrained. No matter how much I try to teach her, she continues to be troublesome..." Kayla sharply criticized Olivia. Alexander, standing beside her, had a grim expression. He finally understood the significance of Olivia's earlier words.

Zach and the servant stood in stunned that Kayla dared to disparage Olivia in front of Kenneth. She must be out of her mind.

Olivia was used to Kayla's disparagement. She paid little attention to what Kayla had told Zach earlier.

However, hearing Kayla's words in front of Alexander and her recently discovered biological father inexplicably enraged Olivia.

These were the family members who had recently acknowledged Olivia, and she had begun to feel a glimmer of hope for her alleged family.

Yet, Kayla decided to sabotage her life. It was as if she didn't realize what impression others would have of Olivia after hearing her words.

Kayla knew.

But Kayla didn't mind. She wanted everyone to despise Olivia.

Since Olivia was young, whenever a teacher expressed fondness or even praise for her, Kayla would find ways to undermine her in front of them, leading them to believe Olivia was troublesome.

The teachers never imagined that a mother would disparage her own child, and the majority of them believed Kayla's words, thinking Olivia was a difficult child.

Nicole could exert greater control over Olivia the less she liked her.

Kayla's contempt and criticism of Olivia developed into a pattern that has continued to this day.

Olivia clenched her hand against her side as she listened to Kayla's disparaging remarks. She finally had enough.

Two voices exclaimed, "Stop!" at the same time. Olivia instinctively turned her head to look at one of them.

Kenneth's expression was stern and angry.

He had always appeared distant and aloof, and now his expression was even darker, adding to his intimidating demeanor.

Kayla was instantly silenced by fear.

Kenneth's expression darkened as he stared angrily at Kayla. "The Sinclair family's child should not be commented on by an outsider like you. "Zach, lead them out!"

Kayla was taken aback by his sudden shift and missed his mention of "The Sinclair family's child." Before she could ask any further questions, Zach was already preparing to lead them out.

Kenneth stared coldly as the two were led away, then turned to Olivia and asked, "Did the Parker family treat you like this, too?"

After speaking, he pursed his lips, realizing he had asked an ineffective question.

Kayla's audacity in insulting Olivia in front of him suggested that she had most likely bullied her while they were both members of the Parker family.

Kenneth assumed Olivia, whom the Parkers had adopted, lived a comfortable life. He never imagined the Parkers could be so despicable!

The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He turned to Alexander and sternly ordered, "Call Ethan and cancel the Parker Group cooperation project!"

Kenneth had initiated the cooperation project to compensate the Parkers for caring for Olivia, offering them favorable terms that would result in millions of dollars in profit and support for the Parker family. However, knowing how they had treated Olivia, he refused to continue assisting them. They did not deserve it!

Alexander regained his earlier cheerfulness and casually pulled out his phone. "Okay."

Meanwhile, Olivia looked at Kenneth in disbelief. When she lowered her head, she realized she wasn't smiling. Her new family members appeared different from the Parkers... It felt good.

Kayla and Nicole were unceremoniously escorted out of Parker Villa. They couldn't understand Kenneth's outrage or his reference to "The Sinclair family's child." They didn't know who he was referring to.

Zach noticed their confusion and wondered how people in the Parker family could be so clueless. They had raised Olivia, so the Sinclair family would naturally repay this debt. Yet, they had no idea what's their adopted daughter's true identity was when they called her ungrateful.

As a butler, Zach remained professional and avoided cursing or mocking others. He chose to politely remind them.

"Mr. Kenneth lost a daughter eighteen years ago, and today is Ms. Sinclair's return home. Naturally, he will not tolerate any slander about her. We cannot entertain you today. Please leave."

With that, he turned and told someone to close the mansion gate.

Kayla and Nicole stood outside the gate, puzzled.

Kayla clutched Nicole's arm, asking in a daze, "Nicole, what did he mean... Who is Ms. Sinclair?"

Nicole couldn't believe what she had heard, or perhaps didn't want to.

"It can't be true... we must have misheard."

They couldn't have been referring to Olivia as Ms. Sinclair.

Ms. Sinclair could not be her!

Kayla turned slowly to Nicole, feeling as if her world was crumbling.

"Oh no! "We are in trouble!"
