Chapter 6 Slander from Sister

Kayla was surprised to see the person she had just kicked out of her house reappear in the Sinclairs' garden less than an hour later. Her shock was obvious on her face. But then her gaze shifted to the middle-aged woman standing beside Olivia, dressed as a maid, and everything fell into place.

This woman must be Olivia's biological mother.


Olivia's biological mother worked as a maid.

Coming from the mountains, finding decent work was likely difficult, so being a maid in a place like this was admirable.

Nicole appeared to have the same realization.

Nicole couldn't help but feel a mixture of disdain and amusement while pretending sympathy and concern.

"Sister, it appears that your family members work here. Remember, this is the Sinclair family. You should not touch anything randomly so as not to cause trouble for them."

Zach, who was leading the way, changed his expression slightly as Nicole spoke. He was about to explain something when Olivia responded indifferently.

"Thank you."

Olivia's gaze shifted to the pale grey figure next to her. She raised her head slightly and spoke again.

"If I were you, I would stay home right now instead of wandering around."

Olivia had magical artifacts in her home that ordinary ghosts couldn't approach without risk. Nicole be in danger.

Kayla was furious at Olivia's arrogance, despite her birth mother's humble profession. But with Zach, the Sinclair family's butler, present, she controlled her rage and turned to Nicole.

"Nicole, you have a good heart; however, you must choose the right people to show it to. She doesn't appreciate anything, so there's no point in giving her advice."

Kayla then turned to Zach with an expression of helplessness and said, "Sorry, this is our adopted child. I never imagined that after raising her with such difficulty, she would disregard me once her biological parents arrived." Kayla sighed and went on, "This child has always been troublesome. Our family was able to tolerate her, but now that she is in someone else's home, who knows what kind of trouble she will cause."

Kayla appeared deeply concerned, implying that having someone like Olivia in the Sinclair family's home might cause problems.

Zach listened, shocked. His thought was, 'Doesn't Mrs. Parker realize that the person in front of her is the long-lost Ms. Sinclair of the Sinclair family? How can they speak negatively about Olivia in front me? Olivia must have had difficulties with the Parker family.'

Zach, who had previously respected Kayla because of the Parker family's concern for Olivia, had suddenly become indifferent. Kayla, on the other hand, interpreted Zach's cool demeanor as displeasure with Olivia's attitude. She sneered inwardly.

Kayla intended to watch Olivia being driven away, so that she would not dare to show such hostility toward her again. Kayla felt that with her ties to the Sinclair family, she didn't need to waste time with Olivia. It was just a position; Nicole could have it.

The maid stood silently on the sidelines as Kayla and Nicole approached. It was generally considered inappropriate for a servant to engage in casual conversation with the host's guests, especially given the Sinclair family's strict rules. However, she couldn't shake the suspicion that something was wrong with the guest's statements.

Kayla's previous comments suggested that Olivia, whom the Sinclair family had recently discovered, was standing right next to her.

Zach couldn't help but comment as he observed their actions. "Mrs. Parker, Ms. Nicole, you..."

Before Zach could finish his sentence, another voice interrupted. "What's going on?"

After finishing his phone call, Alexander approached and spotted Olivia among the group. He instinctively increased his pace, covering the distance in a few strides.

Nicole was pleasantly surprised by Alexander's arrival, while Kayla assessed the young man before her. Her gaze shifted to his diamond cufflinks and million-dollar watch, silently speculating which Sinclair family scion he might be.

Zach's expression became serious as Alexander approached. He was about to speak when he noticed Alexander asking about Olivia, prompting him to close his lips.

Olivia decided to speak up for whatever reason, whether it was because Alexander had previously defended her or for some other reason. "Oh, they were just slandering me."

Olivia's response was brief but sharp, creating an eerie stillness in the scene. Kayla yelled, "You insolent girl, utter nonsense!"

Her words were accompanied by a raised hand prepared to strike Olivia.

Alexander was initially intrigued by Olivia's accusation, but his expression changed when he saw Kayla's reaction.

Before Alexander could react, Olivia swiftly reached up and firmly grabbed Kayla's outstretched wrist.

Olivia's sudden action caught Alexander and Kayla off guard. Kayla, in particular, appeared surprised by Olivia's resistance and attempted to withdraw her hand instinctively.

Despite the deceptively gentle hold, Olivia's grip remained firm, thwarting Kayla's attempts to break free.

Olivia, holding Kayla's hand, stared icily at her and declared, "Remember, I am no longer under the Parker family's authority, and I will not tolerate your mistreatment any longer."

Kayla stumbled backward, losing her balance, as she released her grip abruptly.

"Mom!" Nicole cried out, rushing to help Kayla, who had nearly fallen. Nicole's face was filled with disbelief as she turned to face Olivia.

"Sister, regardless of the circumstances, she is the one who raised you. How could you hit her without hesitation? "You have crossed a line!"

Despite the chaos, Nicole continued to chastise Olivia, unable to reconcile her actions with her upbringing.

Olivia, tired of Nicole's hypocrisy, raised her gaze, offering an unapologetic retort.

"When did you see me hit her? Are you blind? Not everyone is as unaware as you."

Alexander's eyes glowed with curiosity as he watched from the sidelines.

He had previously thought Olivia was docile and easily manipulated, but now it was clear that she possessed formidable resilience.

She truly captured the essence of the Sinclair family.

While Alexander was intrigued by Olivia's newfound assertiveness, Kayla was incensed by her defiance. Kayla believed that, as Olivia's caregiver, Olivia should unconditionally accept any punishment she administers.

Nonetheless, Olivia not only resisted but also dared to insult Nicole. Kayla became enraged and shoved Nicole aside, advancing toward Olivia.

"You insolent brat!"

Olivia stood expressionless, ready to retaliate, but another figure stepped in, blocking her path with an imposing presence.

The man stood tall and steadfast, projecting an air of authority.

The warmth in his eyes had vanished, replaced by a stern expression.

"This is the Sinclair Villa, not a place for your unruly behavior."
