Chapter 22 She Can Be Intimidating Too!
The more Kimberly looked at Olivia the more she doubted her abilities.
"She's still so young. What can she do? Jennifer, you didn't get fooled again, right?" She looked at Jennifer, her eyes full of doubt.
Jennifer's face turned unpleasant. "Mom! Master Sinclair may be young, but she is truly skilled. Don't talk nonsense."
She was worried that Kimberly's words would offend Olivia.
Kimberly curled her lip. She didn't believe that such a young girl could have any real skills.
She thought, 'Olivia is just boasting.
'Jennifer may have received a higher education, but she can't judge people accurately.
'Luckily, I had found other wizards in advance; otherwise, relying on this little girl would have been disastrous.
'This family still depends on me.'
Kimberly wanted to take Olivia down a notch or two. She looked at Olivia and said, "You claim that you have abilities. Then show me. It doesn't have to be much. At least show something like that wizard just now."
"Mom!" Jennifer was angry. She was afraid Kimberly's attitude would anger Olivia, so she turned and hurriedly said to her, "Master Sinclair, I apologize. Please don't mind her."
Olivia didn't mind, nodded at Jennifer, and walked past Kimberly and the other wizard to the bedside.
As soon as she entered the room, she could see Cynthia lying on the bed.
The room was filled with smoke, and there were no signs of her waking up.
The wizard had been observing them in the corner of his eye ever since they entered the room. However, pretending to be undisturbed by the outside world, he continued his ritual seriously, still "chanting spells".
Only when he saw Olivia approach the bed did he suddenly scold, "Don't come any closer! You will disrupt my ritual!"
Olivia ignored his warning and focused her attention on Cynthia's fingers, examining them closely.
Outraged by Olivia's disregard for his warning, the wizard stopped chanting and confronted Kimberly, saying, "Mrs. Kimberly! What is going on here? Didn't I tell you not to disturb me during my ritual?"
Kimberly, who was equally displeased, quickly replied, "Master Monk, my apologies. I will have them leave immediately."
As she spoke, Kimberly gave Olivia a stern look, intending to ask her to leave. Olivia, however, released Cynthia's hand and calmly addressed the Master Monk, "Master Monk, are you conducting this ritual because you are certain that something wrong with Ms. Edwards?"
Upon hearing her question, Dave Monk snorted coldly in response. "Ms. Edwards has indeed been cursed, and I was attempting to lift the curse. However, due to your interference, I failed in my endeavor!"
His words implied that Olivia's interruption had caused his failure, insinuating that Cynthia's inability to awaken was now Olivia's fault rather than his.
Olivia chuckled lightly and looked at Dave, as if she was looking at a fraud.
"If you had any discernment, you would know that there are no malevolent spirits in this room. Furthermore, Ms. Edwards' unconscious state is the result of a witchcraft-based attempt on her life, not a curse.
Zachary and Jennifer, wide-eyed and anxious, asked, "Master Sinclair, what do you mean by witchcraft? Is someone attempting to harm Cynthia?"
Olivia replied, "No. As I previously stated, Ms. Edwards is destined to live a trouble-free life. As a result, someone has taken notice and wants to steal her good fortune in order to prolong their own life."
Olivia took Cynthia's hand and directed Zachary and Jennifer's attention to a faint red mark on her thumb. "This red mark signifies an agreement made through deception, likely during the ten minutes Cynthia was missing."
Zachary and Jennifer examined Cynthia's hand closely, noticing the barely discernible red mark, which had been wiped away but remained visible on closer inspection. They had overlooked this detail in their haste to get Cynthia help after her accident.
Kimberly, skeptical, leaned in for a better look.
Zachary's focus shifted away from Kimberly and the other wizard. His expression darkened as he addressed Olivia, "Master Sinclair, has my daughter's destiny been stolen? Can it be restored?"
Olivia looked at him and nodded affirmatively. "Yes, it can."
Standing nearby, Dave was dissatisfied with Olivia's ease in gaining Zachary's trust. He was about to express his displeasure when a handsome young man, who had entered the room with Zachary and Jennifer, approached him.
The young man had been standing silently beside Dave, but now he stood next to him, calmly warning, "Be quiet. If you disrupt my sister again, you will not be allowed to leave the Edwards Villa."
His soft yet commanding voice sent shivers down Dave's spine, temporarily silencing him.
Meanwhile, Olivia took a red-painted pen and a pendant from her backpack. She used the pen to inscribe something on the pendant before gently placing it on Cynthia's forehead.
Zachary and Jennifer watched from beside the bed, and noticed a wisp of black mist dissipating as the pendant made contact with Cynthia's skin.
Olivia pulled several magic cards out of her backpack, her gaze drawn to Alexander. Her gaze shifted briefly before settling on Dave, who appeared dissatisfied and resentful.
Olivia found Dave's previous behavior distasteful, but the others seemed convinced by his ritual.
"Kimberly seemed to challenge me to display my abilities earlier," she recalled.
After some thought, she decided to use intimidation instead of dancing.
Stepping back, her radiant expression became serious and focused.
Olivia raised her hands, palms facing each other, and pulled them apart. Five magic cards floated in the air, perfectly aligned under an unseen force, surprising everyone in the room, including Dave.
Then Olivia started chanting, her voice clear and authoritative.
As she chanted, she pushed her palms outward, directing the magic cards to Cynthia on the bed.
