Chapter 54 Nicole's Confession
Nicole's shock turned to surprise and joy when she saw Olivia in the hospital room. It was the first time she felt truly happy to see Olivia.
"Olivia!" Nicole exclaimed excitedly, attempting to get out of bed, only to be reminded of her injuries as pain shot through her. She winced, gripping her leg and back.
Kayla's expression became guarded as she noticed Olivia's presence. After coaxing Olivia into coming, she couldn't help but wonder about her sudden willingness to help.
"Why are you here?" Kayla asked, her tone cautious.
Olivia looked at her briefly before responding, "Isn't it because you invited me?"
Just then, Paul and David returned, carrying new, more severe injuries than before. It appeared that misfortune had befallen them all.
Olivia noticed the lingering black smoke around them but chose not to address it.
Olivia entered the ward and got right to the point. "I came here for two reasons. First, I can help Nicole get rid of the evil spirit, but this will be a one-time offer. Any future problems she encounters are not my concern."
Before Olivia could finish, Nicole jumped in, "If you help me now, I'll consider you my sister!"
Olivia's expression darkened at the mention of sisterhood, and her resolve hardened.
"I have no interest in being your sister. If you need my assistance, do not refer to me as such. My association with the Parker family disgusts me. We have no connection anymore," Olivia said, her tone firm and reminiscent of her demeanor at the banquet.
Paul's eyes flashed with malice, but he quickly regained composure.
"We agree. As long as you help Nicole this time," he stated.
Olivia remained unmoved, insisting on her demands.
"Secondly, I want you to draft a document transferring ownership of the bracelet, signed and stamped," she said, her tone unwavering.
Upon hearing this, David frowned. "Olivia, since we gave you the bracelet, we won't take it back. Why are you saying such things?"
Olivia merely glanced at him and replied coolly, "That might not be the case."
She paused and added more straightforwardly, "I don't trust you."
Paul's eyes held more resentment, but he agreed, "I promise."
Olivia then asked Paul to write the transfer document and sign and stamp it on the spot.
For Nicole's sake, Paul couldn't afford to give up this opportunity with Olivia and had to do as she said.
Upon receiving the transfer document, Olivia stated, "In addition, my fee is one million dollars. You must pay me before I help you, and Nicole must listen to me throughout the process."
Kayla had been holding back, but upon hearing this, she couldn't help but burst out in anger.
"One million dollars?! Are you intentionally trying to rob us? You must be using this opportunity to take back the one million dollars you gave us! You little bitch, you must be trying to pull a fast one on us!"
Nicole hesitated for a moment, her voice pleading. "Dad, Mom, David, could you all go out first?"
Hearing this, Kayla was puzzled, saying, "Nicole, how could we leave you alone with this little... Olivia in a room? Don't worry. I'll stay here with you."
David also said, "Nicole, don't be afraid. I'll watch over you here."
Nicole's expression suddenly became strange and embarrassed.
Seeing this, Olivia couldn't help but laugh and said, "It's obvious that she doesn't want you to know about the bad things she has done, to see the ugly heart beneath her beautiful appearance... Do you still need her to say it directly?"
Olivia's tone appeared sincere, but her voice dripped with mockery, sending shivers down Nicole's spine.
"Olivia! You have crossed a line!" Nicole exclaimed, the color draining from her face.
Olivia met her gaze with indifference, her smile faded to an impassive expression.
"I've outlined the terms. You have one minute to decide whether or not to comply. After that, my offer expires," Olivia declared, her tone firm and unforgiving. Nicole knew she meant everything she said, but the thought of admitting her mistakes in front of her family was unbearable.
Just as despair was about to overwhelm her, Paul stepped in. "Come with me," he said, leading them out of the room.
Curiosity piqued, Kayla and David followed suit, leaving Nicole and Olivia alone.
Nicole let out a long sigh of relief as the room became empty. She shifted her gaze to the small paper lantern floating in the air, a melancholy expression on her face. She let out soft sobs and whispered, "Nicola, I'm sorry... I... I know I've made mistakes..."
