Chapter 17 Magic Card Master from Mystical Sect
After leaving the Edwards Villa, Olivia chose not to return to the Sinclair Villa, instead taking a taxi to the house she had rented two years before. The 860-square-foot home had two bedrooms, with a screen separating the living room to create Emily's activity area, which included a small tent and different toys.
In addition to the main bedroom, there was a study with two large tables; one side was dedicated to carving materials and tools, while the other featured yellow paper, paint, antique books, and mystical artifacts that reflected different styles. Olivia began to straighten up her stuff, aware
She didn't bring any luggage when she went to the Sinclair Villa, and now she had run out of her depleted magic cards. Since she wanted to prepare for the intelligence exchange with Cynthia, she had to prepare in advance.
Olivia's phone rang, with the caller ID reading "Mystical Mementos Host." After a moment of thought, she chose to answer the call.
On the other end of the phone was the voice of an older guy named Frank Carter.
"Olivia, have you considered my offer? Do you want to be a guest speaker at the Wonkin Academy of Magic?" Frank's forceful tone reverberated over the phone. "Even if your marks are insufficient for Wonkin University, working with the Academy guarantees immediate admission. Without attending college, you may become an honorary mentor after two years of lecturing, equivalent to a master's degree..."
Frank tried hard to persuade her, and Olivia didn't find him too verbose. She listened with her other ear and then said, "My scores should meet the requirements. But I haven't decided whether to go to Wonkin City or remain in Haereth." Olivia was initially drawn to Wonkin University to escape the Parker family, but her recent departure from the Parker Villa has caused her to reassess her ambitions.
When Frank heard that she wanted to stay in Haereth, he abandoned his previous attempts to persuade her to attend Wonkin Academy of Magic. "Haereth is fantastic," he said. "There are many outstanding talents there. I have connections at Haereth University. Let me decline the offer from Wonkin Academy of Magic on your behalf. By the way, Olivia, have you considered joining Mystical Mementos directly? With your talent..."
Olivia quickly declined, saying, "No, I want to go to college."
Frank sighed regretfully on the other end of the phone, but then switched gears. "We've run out of magic cards at Mystical Mementos. Olivia, when can you send more? Same deal. $600 per card"
Olivia was drawn to the business talk, so she nodded and said, "Okay, I'll send twenty cards over first."
Twenty cards cost a total of $12,000.
Olivia would still have $6,000 after donating half of it.
Selling magic cards alone would be insufficient to repay the Parker family's generosity.
Olivia was a master of magic cards.
The Mystical Sect had five arts—Cultivation Art, Medical Art, Fortune Telling, Physiognomy, and Divination Art.
Spells were a component of the Cultivation Art, and they were the most mysterious and difficult to master in the Mystic Sect.
Olivia had knowledge in all five arts, but her expertise and focus were on spells.
Aside from special spells, general spells were written on magic cards. Drawing spells was the most fundamental technique in Spells. There were also carving spells, such as the pendant she created for Ian, and drawing spells in the air. The latter two methods required significantly different amounts of effort and concentration.
Olivia spread the magic cards and paints across the table. She picked up her pen, collected her qi, and began writing. Her strokes were smooth, and each one completed a spell. As she finished, a faint glimmer of magical light appeared at the tip of her pen. Thus, a magical card was created.
Olivia quickly finished twenty cards in fifteen minutes.
After finishing the magic cards for Mystical Mementos, Olivia considered Alexander and Kenneth's support for her. She paused for a moment before taking out a high-quality raw gemstone to begin crafting a piece of jewelry.
Olivia spent the entire afternoon at the rental house. It was getting late when she finally packed her belongings and took a taxi back to the Sinclair Villa with Emily.
After entering the house and going upstairs, just as she opened her room door to put her belongings down, a small figure dashed toward her with quick footsteps.
Olivia turned to see her 6-year-old cousin Jessica barge into the room ahead of her, pushing her angrily and claiming ownership, "This is my room. You can't enter my room!"
Olivia looked behind Jessica. It was indeed her room.
Just then, Lauren quickly intervened, reprimanding Jessica for her rudeness, "Jessica, you can't be so rude. Apologize to your cousin right away!"
But Jessica insisted, pointing accusingly at the room. "Mom, you said this room was reserved for me! Why did you allow her to move in? You have broken your promise! I do not care! This is my room."
Jessica's outburst caught the attention of Tom and the other cousins in the room.
Olivia understood why Lauren had initially assigned her a different room. Lauren had planned a dreamy princess room for Jessica.
Lauren, feeling awkward, explained with a forced smile, "It's not... because Jessica likes that room. I didn't know Olivia would return, so I tried to console her..."
"No matter if Olivia comes back or not, that's still her room."
Alexander's voice suddenly came from the other side of the hallway. Apparently, he had also heard the commotion and come over.
He appeared as elegant and gentle as always, but there was a hint of coldness in his charming eyes when he swept over everyone.
He looked at Lauren and asked without warmth or coldness, "Aunt Lauren, don't you understand?"
Olivia had returned. Even if she wasn't here, no one was allowed to use that room.
Lauren looked embarrassed, her face stiffening at Alexander's words.
Owen, feeling defensive of his mother, stepped forward. "Alexander, my mother did not do it on purpose. It's just a room meant for children. Can't Jessica have it because she likes it?"
Owen gave Olivia a glance, insinuating that now that she was an adult, she should yield to Jessica. Olivia appeared unreasonable.
Olivia raised her eyebrow, refusing to back down. "So, just because she is younger and she likes it, I should give it up? And if I don't, will I be fighting with her?"
"Isn't that right?" Owen thought he had a point, but Olivia had a rebuttal ready. "Well, I like the sunflower painting at the National Museum. If you can convince the museum to give me the painting, I'll give her my room. How about that? After all, I'm young, and all I want is a national treasure-level painting."
