Chapter 48 Tom, You Better Have a Good Explanation for This
Nicole had a dream about Nicola, her face twisted in horror, blood and tears streaking down her cheeks, and her hands clutching Nicole's neck with hatred. Nicole, lying in her hospital bed, began convulsing violently as if suffocated. Alarms went off as doctors and nurses rushed to her side, performing emergency procedures in the VIP ward.
Nicole felt a touch on her bed in the midst of the chaos, and Nicola's nightmarish presence seemed to move away as she gasped awake. On the school rooftop, Olivia noticed Nicole, who was now bleeding, abandoning a fallen figure with a chilling smirk. She was caught up in the illusion, completely unaware of the approaching silk threads.
The threads, which transformed into black smoke, sought to enter Olivia's body, but she remained motionless until a faint golden light emanated from her palm. The illusion vanished in an instant, Olivia's eyes snapping open, fixed on a spot on the rooftop. Three Thunder Cards soared from her hand as she chanted a series of Thunder Spells.
Olivia had hoped that the three Thunder Cards would at least draw out the opponent, even if she couldn't deal much damage, allowing her to save the trapped people first. However, to her surprise, as the Thunder Cards were thrown, a faint golden light emanated from her hand. She didn't have time to retrieve the golden light and finish the Thunder Spell incantation. As she shouted the final word, lightning flashed in the sky above the rooftop. Olivia's eyes widened in surprise as three purple claps of thunder struck the Thunder Cards in mid-air.
'Purple Thunder!?' Before she could think further, another cocoon appeared where the purple thunder had struck. Unlike the giant cocoons, this one was child-sized and completely blood-red, like blood-dyed fabric. It attempted to flee but was thwarted by the intimidating presence of the purple thunders. When they struck the red cocoon, the shell quickly turned to ashes, and the skull inside was charred.
Olivia's expression changed when she saw something flying from the charred skull and threw out a magic card to trap the object within. Everything returned to normal once the purple thunder had subsided.
Tom, hiding behind the door, was stunned by what he witnessed and marveled at Olivia's power. He had thought her earlier thunder was impressive, but he had no idea that was nothing compared to her true power!!!
"Olivia! You're amazing! Is that skull the mastermind? Are we safe now?"
Tom noticed the disappearance of the cold air that had lingered after the recent purple thunder. Sensing a newfound calm, he circled around Olivia, who was amazed at her power. Not only had she severely injured her opponent, but she had completely destroyed it.
"You saw those three purple thunders earlier..." Olivia began, uncertain whether her Thunder Cards had summoned them.
Tom, believing she was bragging, immediately applauded her. "I saw it! Three thick purple thunderclaps! So cool!"
Olivia took a deep breath in shock. She had not misjudged; they were indeed purple thunder.
Thunder had the inherent ability to suppress evil, and purple thunder could directly eliminate it.
Olivia was astounded to learn that she had summoned such powerful purple thunder. She hadn't realized she was capable of it.
Despite Diana's mention of her talent, Olivia had little experience with mystical arts, so her ability to summon regular lightning was impressive in and of itself.
She felt something was off.
Olivia barely had time to dwell on her unease before turning her gaze to the seven giant eggs in front of them. Several people's cocoons had ruptured as a result of the purple thunder. "Let's save them first," Olivia said, grabbing a magic card and quickly cutting open two cocoons. Tom followed suit, gently releasing the others with his utility knife.
All seven people were quickly rescued from the cocoons despite being visibly unconscious.
"Olivia, what shall we do? Should we call the police?" Tom inquired, speaking more casually with Olivia now.
Olivia looked at the group and replied, "First, call an ambulance and transport them to the hospital." Though infected with evil spirits, the situation was not dire.
While reaching for his phone, Tom heard a slightly deep male voice behind him. "I've already called the ambulance. It'll be here shortly." Olivia and Tom turned to see Ian on the roof, calmly observing the situation. His gaze swept over the silk eggshells beneath the people, revealing only a slight frown but not much surprise.
Ian had no intention of intervening until he saw the lightning flash near the teaching building. When he reached the rooftop, he discovered the girl lying on the ground, prompting his arrival. Olivia was taken aback by the almost dazzling golden light emanating from Ian's body, but then a sudden realization hit her.
Olivia realized that the Thunder Cards she had thrown resembled the small golden light she had previously grabbed from Ian.
'So, Ian's golden light summoned three purple thunders?!' Olivia looked at Ian with a complex and passionate expression. The complexity came from realizing she hadn't summoned the purple thunders herself, and the passion came from the unexpected utility of Ian's golden light. Olivia suddenly had a bold idea.
While Olivia looked at Ian, he returned her gaze with unwavering scrutiny. He wanted to ask her something but didn't know where to begin. Just as he was about to speak, a breeze blew across the rooftop. The silkworm cocoons beneath the seven people turned to smoke and dispersed in the breeze. Ian's gaze tightened. He quickly lost the desire to ask her any further questions. This was beyond the scope of scientific explanation.
Before they could delve deeper into the situation, they heard footsteps from downstairs once more. This time, Alexander was accompanied by his driver. Alexander's face turned pale for the first time as he saw the "corpses" on the roof. He turned to face Tom, his tone restrained and gloomy. "Tom, you better give me an explanation!"
