Chapter 35 Be Careful with Certain Men
Ian remained calm under Olivia's surprised gaze.
Ian said, "I was the one who revealed your identity to the Edwards family, so they questioned the Sinclair family, indirectly leading to your departure from your home."
Therefore, Ian needed to take responsibility.
Olivia didn't say anything.
Before, she was worried that Ian had discovered her capturing the two golden lights.
Olivia was surprised and suspected that Ian was easily deceived. He actually believed such a clumsy lie!
Ian certainly knew that this was just an excuse Alexander made up to save Olivia.
But as long as he could persuade Ian, it wouldn't be considered a lie.
Yesterday, although Olivia did not explicitly ask Ian to keep her identity a secret, Ian did tell the other party that she was the daughter of the Sinclair family without her consent.
Therefore, Ian would not evade his responsibility.
Ian's compulsiveness was also evident in his stubborn seriousness.
Olivia wanted to comfort Ian by saying it wasn't fault but suddenly glanced at his left arm.
Just now, Olivia clearly saw the black aura that was entwined around Nicole visibly weakened in an instant when she accidentally bumped into Ian's arm.
That golden light was like a ball of fire, instantly dissipating all the darkness and evil near Ian.
Olivia wanted Ian's golden light.
Thinking of this, Olivia didn't bother being polite and said, "Can I come to you if I have any problems in the future?"
"No."
Olivia was very puzzled.
Olivia thought, 'Didn't he say he would take responsibility for me?'
Seeing the confusion in her eyes, Ian explained, "You've moved back to the Sinclair Villa, so my responsibility has already been fulfilled."
Olivia was speechless.
She had not anticipated Ian's sense of responsibility to be a one-time event.
Olivia felt a twinge of regret as she realized that establishing a connection with Ian would require significant effort.
However, she was not in a hurry.
As Olivia considered leaving, she heard a woman's voice behind her.
"Mr. Whitman is notoriously difficult to approach. If you set your sights on him, you will come to regret it."
Olivia turned around and saw the same girl who had mocked Nicole.
The girl was around Olivia's age, and exuded beauty and elegance. Her hair pulled back to reveal her graceful neck.
The girl smiled at Olivia and appeared to have no ill intentions toward her.
Curious, Olivia asked, "Do you like Ian?"
Normally, a man's admirers warn other women not to approach him too closely.
The girl's expression turned fearful, as if she'd just heard a terrifying story.
"If I ever grow weary of life, I might fancy that Devil."
Olivia raised an eyebrow at the girl's reply.
It was the second time she had heard Ian called the Devil.
This nickname was not unique to Alexander; Ian's reputation for cruelty was well-known.
Olivia replied, "I will approach Ian when necessary."
Olivia thanked the girl for her reminder but chose to disregard it.
Lily looked at Olivia, surprised, and waved her hand dismissively. "Forget it, never mind," she replied. "I thought you still had some sanity, especially after you firmly established boundaries with your foster parents. I just wanted to give you some well-intended advice."
Lily smiled as she extended her hand to Olivia, introducing herself. "I am Lily White. The White Estate belongs to my family."
Olivia never treated well-meaning people with indifference, and she admired Lily's confidence and assertiveness.
Olivia shook Lily's hand and noticed the dark pink skin between her brows, which made her smile.
Olivia cautioned Lily, "You may have recently encountered certain men. Beware of those who make you feel indebted."
Olivia never hesitated to offer advice to someone she liked.
Lily was taken aback by Olivia's abrupt shift in topic. "Do you truly believe in these things?" she asked, alluding to Olivia's previous revelations about the Parker family's malevolent intent.
"I do, and it's my area of expertise," Olivia said. "If you ever need to guard against unsavory characters, you can come to me as well."
Lily fell silent, finding Olivia's behavior peculiar.
Despite the fact that there were no more onlookers, the Parker family returned to their villa in near silence. Kayla kept her mouth tightly closed, afraid of inadvertently revealing her thoughts.
David had not gone with them to the Sinclair Villa because they had a dinner party planned for tonight. He expected his family to return later, but they arrived sooner than anticipated. When David walked in, he was met with Paul's grim expression, Nicole's red, teary eyes, and Kayla inexplicably covering her mouth as they entered.
"Mum, Dad, what's going on?" David began to express his confusion, only to see Paul abruptly turn around and viciously slap Kayla in the face.
Kayla, taken aback by Paul's unexpected strike, collapsed to the ground, crying out in surprise. Nicole, who felt wronged herself, was taken aback by her father's actions. David rushed forward, feeling anxious. "Dad! "What are you doing?"
Despite David's efforts to intervene, Paul continued to vent his rage, attempting to kick Kayla. David had never seen his father behave so fiercely.
"You have tarnished the reputation I've worked so hard to establish over the years! You've mocked the Parker family! I feel like strangling you right now." Paul yelled, his normally gentle demeanor replaced by intense rage.
David was startled by Paul's sudden transformation from kindness to aggression and couldn't help but wonder, "Weren't they supposed to attend the Sinclair family's dinner tonight to mend relations? "How did our family turn into a laughingstock?"
Nicole, terrified by her father's fierce expression, whimpered softly, feeling scared and annoyed.
"Please stop, Dad. You are scaring me..." Nicole spoke up, but Paul quickly redirected his rebuke to her.
"I haven't even started to settle the score with you!" Nicole trembled in fear as Paul's voice boomed out. "You and your mother were both aware that Olivia was the Sinclair family's daughter, but you kept this information from me. I thought you were genuinely trying to save our relationship with the Sinclairs, but it turns out you two are the culprits!"
Nicole was completely shaken by Paul's scolding.
Kayla, who was struggling to get up, embraced Nicole protectively. She dropped all pretense of holding back and unleashed a barrage of curses.
"Paul Parker!” How can you yell at Nicole like that? She's your daughter. Why are you only blaming us? You are friendly to strangers but only dare to vent your rage on us at home! "You, coward!"
David stood in shock, unable to comprehend Kayla's harsh words.
