Chapter 55 Apologizing to Nicola

Nicole continued, her voice filled with remorse, "I shouldn't have implied that Fred would cause trouble for you just because we have the same name. Initially, I only wanted to embarrass you, but I never imagined Fred would actually tell me that he liked you.

"He used to chase after me all the time, but suddenly he started liking you. I just couldn't accept. I had no malicious intent when I invited you to the rooftop that day. I knew you were pregnant and wanted to scare you, but I never expected your miscarriage. I really didn't mean to kill you." Nicole admitted, her tone tinged with regret.

She initially attempted to justify her actions, but as she spoke, the coldness in her heart dissipated, revealing her true intentions.

Nicole believed that her words would only be heard by Nicola, the evil spirit, so she openly revealed her every thought and evil intentions.

Olivia stood beside her, expressionless and listening intently.

Olivia had seen some interactions between Nicole and Nicola in the illusion, as well as the ghost baby and Nicola's emotions, but she couldn't tell what was true.

Olivia was not surprised by Nicole's admissions. Nicole's capacity for malice allowed her to target an innocent girl solely because of their shared name.

When Nicole finished her confession, Olivia raised her hand, bringing the small paper lantern back into her palm and sealing it in a small bottle.

Nicole looked at Olivia's actions with a hint of resentment in her eyes. "Can you guarantee that Nicola's ghost will never haunt me again?" Olivia gave her a serious but perfunctory response. "Yes, I guarantee it," she stated.

Nicole persisted, insisting, "And can you guarantee that my luck improves? I've had a string of misfortunes lately."

She described the car accident that resulted in her broken legs, the subsequent accidents involving her bed, and her physical health, and speculated that Nicola's ghost was to blame for her bad luck.

Olivia responded, "I can't guarantee that. Your current bad luck is the result of your destiny's trials and has nothing to do with Nicola."

She recognized that, while Nicola's lingering spirit may exacerbate her misfortunes, the root cause lay with her own fate.

Nicole's expression shifted as Olivia mentioned destiny, and her tone became more confrontational. "Regardless of the outcome, you still took my money! You're obligated to assist me," she insisted, refusing to back down despite Olivia's explanation.

Despite Olivia's explanations that she had not earned the promised one million dollars, Nicole remained steadfast in her demands.

The commotion inside the hospital room drew the Parker family's attention from outside, prompting them to reenter. Nicole immediately accused Olivia of taking their money without keeping her promises.

Kayla, visibly upset, interjected, "You took one million dollars from us and only addressed one spirit? Unacceptable! You must also assist Nicole in breaking her streak of bad luck. You can't simply take the bracelet and do nothing else!"

Paul, who was equally agitated, vowed to stop Olivia from leaving until she agreed to help Nicole with her situation.

Olivia scoffed at their demands, dismissing their simplistic approach. "You have been scheming for eighteen years and have yet to succeed. Do you think you can purchase a solution with money and a bracelet? How naive. Even if I wanted to help, why should I? She retorted, casting a scornful look at Paul.

David attempted to tap into Olivia's sense of sisterhood by reminding her of their familial bond. "She is your sister!"

Olivia, on the other hand, remained unmoved, emphasizing her distance from the Parkers. "I'll say it again. I have no ties to the Parker family, so stop using sisterly love as leverage to manipulate me," she firmly stated, addressing Paul directly.

Olivia reiterated her position, emphasizing that she had resolved Nicola's problem and had no intention of interfering further. Before leaving, she issued a warning.

"I initially offered to resolve her misfortune when she turned eighteen. Your daughter bullied others and ruined a girl's life that should have been good. This is why she is experiencing her current misfortune. Thankfully, her life is no longer in danger, but the fact that she is lying here is already extremely lucky.

"I have already dealt with Nicola's matter. If you want to solve her fate, find someone else," Olivia continued.

As she was about to leave, she took a step back and looked at the four people in the room.

"Another reminder, now that Nicola's fate reversal has failed, its consequences will backfire on those closest to her." Her pointed gaze swept across the injuries sustained by the others in the room, darkening their expressions with concern.

But Olivia wasn't done. "Since you've paid one million dollars, I'll give you some free advice. Do you remember the pendant I gave you before?"

When Olivia was still studying mystical arts with Diana and hadn't completely given up on the Parker family.

Olivia knew Nicole and Kayla had discarded the pendants carved those pendants to ward off bad luck. If you don't want to be stumbling and bumping your head every day, just wear them."

She had given those pendants as gifts before out of kindness, but now that she couldn't get them back, she wanted them to realize their worth. The one million dollars covered compensation for the four pendants.

David's expression shifted as he realized why Olivia had been mentioning the pendant so frequently. He didn't realize it had protective properties. He felt a deep sense of regret as he looked down at his arm. If he had looked for it when she asked, he could have avoided the run of bad luck he was having.

The Parkers now wholeheartedly believed Olivia's claim that Nicole's misfortune would affect those around her. Paul and David resolved to look for the pendant when they arrived home. But Kayla and Nicole had strange, remorseful expressions.

Kayla was furious as she exclaimed, "Olivia must've known I threw away the stone she gave me. That is why she said that!"

Nicole, too, was upset, whispering, "I-I don't know where I put it. Olivia gave me too many gifts. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to it. Dad, what should I do?"

Nicole didn't want to live this unlucky life anymore.

Paul remained silent, but Kayla reassured Nicole, "It's okay; we can use your dad and brother's pendants."

Her words infuriated Paul and David. They would have nothing if she used their pendants?

David only recently became aware of Kayla's bias.

Olivia thought, 'This is exactly what I wanted.'
