Chapter 43 I Have a Pendant Too

Alexander and Kenneth weren't home earlier in the day. When they returned in the evening, Kenneth got wind of David stirring up trouble for Olivia and promptly directed Zach, "No one from the Parker family is welcome here from now on."

Then he geared up to check on Olivia, worried she might face more mistreatment from the Parkers. But as he moved to head upstairs, he caught sight of Olivia coming down with a little fox in her arms, accompanied by an unexpected figure.

Tom trailed behind her, his expression clouded with anger as he confronted her. "What did you do to my arm earlier? Did you mess with me, Olivia? You better come clean!

"If it weren't for me today, you'd have been at the mercy of the Parker family. Weren't you the one always arguing with us? Why can't you stand up to them? You're making the Sinclair family look bad!"

Kenneth observed Tom bothering Olivia, instinctively frowning, thinking Tom was causing her trouble again. He was about to intervene when Alexander stopped him.

Kenneth hesitated, noticing Alexander merely watching with interest. Tom didn't realize the two were downstairs until Olivia finally halted her steps. He turned, his expression guilt-stricken momentarily, but he quickly composed himself and greeted them. "Mr. Sinclair, Alexander, you're back?"

"Hmm, what's going on?" Kenneth queried in a deep tone.

Just as Olivia was about to speak, Tom, fearing Olivia might report him, interrupted, "Mr. Sinclair, we were discussing David from the Parker family, who came by causing trouble today. He kept pressuring Olivia, claiming his status as her brother and the Parker family's background, but I gave him a piece of my mind and sent him packing."

Alexander commended, "Impressive."

Tom, basking in Alexander's praise, straightened proudly, "Of course, this is the Sinclair Villa. He has no right to bully anyone here!"

Tom glanced at Olivia again. Seeing her listen calmly without a hint of gratitude irked him. He had stood up for her out of kindness, yet she hadn't thanked him all afternoon and brushed him off when he tried to talk. She really didn't know how to show gratitude! No wonder Megan warned him against meddling in other people's affairs. Olivia wasn't worth his help.

Tom, seething with anger, decided to try another tactic. "Mr. Sinclair, Alexander, Olivia and David are close. She even made a pendant for him herself!"

Olivia shook her head, replying simply, "No."

Alexander smiled, "A pendant? Like a talisman? I have one too." He discreetly pulled out a red string necklace with a rune-engraved pendant from under his collar. Olivia noticed, her expression shifting slightly, but she remained composed.

Tom, unable to believe his attempt to sow discord failed, stared at the pendant, feeling a twinge of jealousy before turning to Kenneth. "Mr. Sinclair, do you have one too?"

Kenneth, glancing at Alexander's pendant then at Olivia, replied quietly, "No."

Surprisingly, Olivia interjected, "You do. I gave you one."

Kenneth was taken aback, momentarily joyous before furrowing his brow, "I never received it."

"Well, I've kept it for you," Alexander said calmly beside them. "Olivia asked me to give it to you, but I didn't."

Kenneth's expression turned serious, ready to reprimand him, but Alexander continued nonchalantly, "Because of a mistake you made, I held onto the talisman for Olivia."

Though Alexander didn't elaborate on the mistake, Kenneth felt a pang of guilt before regaining composure. He spoke sternly, "Even if you disagree, if Olivia asked you to give it to me, you should've. Hand it over."

Alexander shrugged and said, "It's in my room. I'll fetch it for you in a moment."

"No, you have to get it now!" Kenneth was getting angry, and Alexander no longer resisted, going upstairs to retrieve the pendant. He quickly returned with it.

The pendant was still wrapped in a gift bag and hadn't been opened. Kenneth opened the package in front of Olivia, and sure enough, it was the same pendant that Alexander wore.

There was a hint of joy in his eyes, but he restrained himself from showing it. He just held the pendant in his hand and felt it. "You carved this yourself? Your craftsmanship is amazing! I didn't expect you to have this skill. Thank you."

With no red string, Kenneth carefully stowed it back in the package and into his shirt pocket. Tom watched, a hint of jealousy in his eyes. He wasn't sure if he envied Kenneth's appreciation of Olivia's gift or that Olivia hadn't given him one.

Meanwhile, David returned to the ward after being ousted from the Sinclair Villa, finding Paul and Nicole waiting. Paul asked eagerly, "How did it go? Did she agree?"

David shook his head. "Olivia's different now."

Kayla cursed, "She's ungrateful! I've said it before, we should seek help from the fortune-teller who aided Nicole!"

Paul sighed. "If only we could find him. I've tried since Olivia's accident, but no luck."

After being retorted by Kayla, she didn't dare to argue with Paul anymore, so she changed the topic and said, "Since she's not willing to help, then she shouldn't expect to keep Stephanie's bracelet!"

Then she asked David again, "What about the bracelet?"

David looked a bit embarrassed and hesitated for a while before he spoke, "She took the bracelet."

"What?" Kayla slammed the table, exclaiming, "She won't help, but she takes Stephanie's bracelet! How shameless!"

Nicole, lying on the bed, was also seething with anger. She cursed David silently for his incompetence, allowing Olivia to seize the bracelet. It seemed he was only playing into that woman's hands.

In her anger, Nicole clenched her fist, forgetting her IV. It pierced her skin, making her cry out in pain.

Everyone rushed to her side, panic-stricken. In the chaos, the bed was accidentally lowered, worsening Nicole's condition.

Kayla erupted, blaming the hospital infrastructure. Nicole, already suffering, now had unbearable pain and started vomiting.

Paul watched, resolved to make Olivia meet Nicole the next day.
