Chapter 37 Who Told You That I Like You?

Upon witnessing Olivia's unusually serious expression, the members of the Edwards family grew apprehensive, sensing there might be further complications.

Olivia pressed on, her tone grave. "The one responsible for robbing Cynthia of her intellect was a long-serving maid at Sinclair Villa. She once aided an evil witch by chance, who, in return, offered to trade intelligence for her mentally challenged son. Thus, when Cynthia visited Sinclair Villa, she became the target."

Wendy later elaborated on these details, Olivia opting not to conceal the truth from the Edwards family.

Upon learning the truth, the Edwards family experienced a mix of emotions. While they naturally placed blame on the Sinclair family for hiring the maid, none had anticipated such malice from a household servant.

Cynthia, merely a guest at Sinclair Villa, had unwittingly lived a childlike existence for eight years, ensnared by the maid's sinister plot.

For years, the Edwards family had attributed Cynthia's condition to a head injury from a horse riding accident, silently holding the Sinclair family accountable. Olivia, however, a member of the Sinclair household, took it upon herself to uncover the truth and offer assistance voluntarily.

Taking a deep breath, Zachary spoke after a prolonged silence, "We should let bygones be bygones, so long as Cynthia can recover..."

Zachary pondered to himself, 'The friendship between the Sinclair and Edwards families remains intact. Should it crumble due to this, it would be detrimental to Master Sinclair.'

Presently, the sole desire of the Edwards family was for Cynthia to get better.

The candidness displayed by the Edwards family endeared them to Olivia. With a reassuring smile, she stated, "Fear not. She will improve."

Upstairs, Olivia gathered Cynthia's hair and arranged a modest magic circle in the sunlight's glow.

Unlike her previous elaborate magic cards, this time Olivia's magic circle appeared ordinary.

Observing Olivia muttering incantations softly and burning the hair enclosed in the magic cards, the Edwards family awaited a reaction. Olivia then declared, "It's done."

The family, particularly Henry, who had anticipated witnessing Master Sinclair's spell-casting firsthand, felt a twinge of disappointment.

Unbeknownst to Henry, Olivia had cast her spell primarily for the benefit of the Edwards family, especially Kimberly, to instill belief, having already earned their trust.

The most potent magic often employs the simplest methods.

Fortunately, the Edwards family's primary concern was Cynthia's recovery, sparing them from questioning the process as they anxiously observed her.

Cynthia's eyes seemed to gleam brighter, her gaze shifting among the Edwards family members before settling on Olivia, her curiosity piqued. "Ms. Puppy, are we not playing the treasure hunt game today?"

The Edwards family members were almost immediately disappointed. They didn't expect Cynthia to still be as unresponsive as before.

Jennifer, her concern evident, turned to Olivia. "Master Sinclair, did your spell fail? Why does Cynthia still appear unwell?"

In the face of the family's doubts, Olivia remained composed. " She has already been healed."

Zachary frowned and looked at his still innocent little daughter. He couldn't tell that she had already recovered.

Aware of the doubts among the Edwards family members, Olivia started her explanation. "Cynthia was transferred to the intellect program when she was eight, so she remains eight years old mentally. Regaining her intellect won't suddenly make her as intelligent as a sixteen-year-old. However, starting today, she will begin to progress like any other child her age."

"Nevertheless, Cynthia may lag behind her peers in maturity by eight years. She might appear different from them now, but over time, these differences will fade until she reaches full maturity."

Relieved, the Edwards family finally relaxed, understanding that Cynthia's sudden transformation into a sixteen-year-old would be implausible.

Jennifer, overcome with emotion, gazed at Cynthia's innocent countenance, nearly overcome with tears. "Excellent! She simply enjoyed a lengthier childhood than most. As the Edwards family's little princess, there's no rush for her to grow up."

With the family's acceptance of the situation, Olivia retrieved a pendant from her bag, adorning Cynthia with it herself.

"This pendant, crafted by me, will ward off malevolent curses and safeguard Cynthia's well-being."

In truth, Cynthia's exchange of intellect had occurred due to her favorable destiny.

The pendant Olivia bestowed upon Cynthia, far superior to her previous one, prompted Zachary to offer Olivia a million dollars in gratitude.

However, Olivia declined the monetary reward. "Someone else has already compensated me."

Zachary was taken aback. Olivia then revealed the two million dollars already in her account, courtesy of Kenneth Sinclair.

Zachary was speechless.

Olivia added, "The Sinclair family bears responsibility for Cynthia's ordeal. Thus, today, I stand here not only as Master Sinclair but also as a representative of the Sinclair household, seeking to make amends."

Zachary's animosity towards the Sinclair family dissipated entirely.

Departing the Edwards Villa, Olivia headed towards her car when a familiar voice called out behind her.

"Olivia?"

Turning, she saw Scott nearby, his gaze revealing restrained surprise and disgusting affection.

"I'm here to visit my uncle. Running into you was unexpected. What a coincidence," he explained gently. Observing Olivia's silence, he continued, "I saw you at the party. I wanted to greet you, but I feared you might not be pleased to see me... Considering the misunderstandings between us."

Olivia arched an eyebrow. "Misunderstandings?"

Finally, Olivia spoke, prompting Scott to explain further.

"Yes! Nicole must have told you that she's my girlfriend now, right? But that's not true. When you miraculously found your relatives after the accident, Nicole misled me, claiming your family was destitute. Fearing for your future, I pleaded with her to allow Paul to continue accommodating you at Parker Villa. In exchange, I agreed to be her boyfriend..."

Olivia feigned surprise. "So, you did all this for me?"

Scott gazed at her, his expression pained. "It seems fate has a sense of humor. Olivia, did you know? I've always harbored feelings for you. And I believe you've felt the same..."

Initially intending to inquire why Scott awaited her, Olivia couldn't resist interjecting at his admission. "Scott Young, who told you I had feelings for you?"
