Chapter 56 This Pendant Was Sent by My Sister
Alexander arrived at Sinclair Villa later than Tom, having dealt with police matters and the school incident. Tom eagerly approached him as he entered, asking how things went.
Alexander responded, "We were able to cover it up. Otherwise, word of a group passing out in an abandoned school would have circulated online."
Tom praised Alexander. "My brother is amazing! It's hot outside. I feel like it's so hot in the house where the air conditioning isn't cool enough."
Tom complained while exaggeratedly pulling at the collar of his t-shirt.
Alexander smiled as he noticed Tom's pendant around his neck and casually asked about his new shirt. "Your t-shirt looks good. Did you just buy it?"
Tom blinked, not caring what he was asked, and proudly boasted, "What? Are you asking about the pendant on my neck? Olivia gave it to me. It's just like yours and Uncle Keith."
Lauren walked over from the living room and heard this. She silently rolled her eyes.
When Tom had just arrived home, he was also bragging in front of her.
She asked him, "Why did you come back so quickly? Didn't you stay at the hospital for a detailed check-up?"
Tom said, "What's the use of asking me about this pendant on my neck? My sister said it's a protective pendant and that it was similar to the ones Alexander and Uncle Kenneth were wearing.
Lauren rolled her eyes as she overheard Tom boasting. He had also been bragging to her earlier.
She questioned his quick return, expecting him to stay for a thorough examination at the hospital. Tom dismissed it, citing Olivia's assurance that the pendant could cure any illness, deeming further investigation unnecessary.
Lauren couldn't understand Tom's sudden change. He used to dislike Olivia, so this made no sense, especially now that he addressed her as his sister. Was She wondered if Olivia was responsible for this change.
Alexander observed Tom's display and nodded, saying, "Indeed, your pendant is the same as mine, but criticized the silver chain you're wearing doesn't look good."
Tom immediately said, "Don't you have that red string to replace it.? Give me one, I'll change it."
Alexander joked, "Didn't you say the red string wasn't your style?"
Tom defended himself, asking, "Who said I didn't like it? I actually think red looks good. The red string and pendant go together perfectly. I want to use the red string!"
Alexander laughed even harder and slapped Tom's back, saying, "I'm glad to see your taste has returned to normal. I will have it delivered to you later."
With that, he went upstairs.
Tom stood there for a moment, realizing what Alexander had implied!
Alexander had basically labeled him as clueless!
When Olivia returned home from the hospital to Sinclair Villa, she discovered Tom sitting on the stairs, holding Emily and playing with her.
Tom used to dislike Emily, but now he appears to enjoy playing with her.
When Tom saw Olivia, his face flushed with embarrassment, but he quickly recovered. He passed Emily over and approached Olivia.
"Hey, you are back! "I thought Emily might be bored in your room, so I let her out to play," he said.
Olivia was a little disturbed by Tom's new demeanor. She acknowledged his explanation and prepared to reclaim Emily from him. However, Tom stepped aside and pointed to the side hall.
"Sis, someone's waiting to see you," that's what he said.
Olivia was surprised that no one other than the Parkers would pay her a visit at Sinclair Villa. She nodded and proceeded to the side hall, having decided to leave Emily with Tom.
As she walked in, she overheard Lauren talking. She was surprised to see the person waiting.
It was Lily.
…
This morning, Lily set out alone to explore near Haereth University, clutching her newly acquired driver's license.
Every summer, Haereth University welcomed tourists due to its renowned beauty.
Lily arrived to find the area bustling with activity, as it usually is.
When she realized the street ahead was nearly completely blocked, she decided to turn around and leave. However, while navigating an intersection, she unexpectedly collided with someone.
Lily turned off her car and dashed to the front, where she discovered a well-dressed and attractive young man who had been knocked down.
He wore a clean shirt and black pants, exuding the allure of a college heartthrob.
"Sorry I didn't see you earlier. "Are you okay?" she inquired.
The young man smiled slightly and said, "I'm fine. It's only this that was broken."
Lily noticed the young man's bag, which had fallen and clearly had plaster damage.
"How much does it cost? I'll compensate you," Lily said, quickly reaching for her phone.
The young man watched her actions, blinking and shaking his head. "This thing is useless. I created it myself, originally for a summer art exhibition."
Lily looked visibly surprised when she realized it was an exhibit. It would not be easy to compensate for this.
Seeing her reaction, the young man smiled wryly. "Maybe I'm not cut out for this competition. It is not your fault. You do not need to compensate me."
However, Lily was not one to break something without making amends. "This must be valuable. "Give me a price."
She considered offering the exhibition's prize money. However, the boy declined, saying, "If you really want to compensate me, maybe you could be my hand model? Your hands are stunning, and my competition piece is a plaster hand model..."
Lily was surprised by his request. Before she could respond, the boy had already pulled out his phone. "Can I add you on WhatsApp?"
The man was courteous and gentlemanly. Lily instinctively reached for her phone.
However, as she was about to save the number, she remembered Olivia's warning at dinner that day. "You've been experiencing some bad romances lately; be wary of those who make you feel indebted."
Initially, Lily had paid little attention to those words. But suddenly, as she looked at the man in front of her, Olivia's advice came to mind.
Bad relationships, feeling indebted. It seemed like a perfect fit.
Though not superstitious, Lily valued advice and was cautious. She took out her phone and retrieved a business card from her wallet, which she handed to the boy. Lily's demeanor became reserved.
"Hi, this is my personal assistant. Send any requests to her. She'll find you the best hand model, and I'll cover the expenses."
Lily turned and got into her car, driving away. The sudden change in her demeanor startled the boy.
