Chapter 13
Isabella's POV
"You traitor! Bitch! How could you bring the invaders here!"
"Have you forgotten the glory we gave you! How dare you do such a thing!"
"Raising you is no more than raising a toad!"
With that one comment, Emma brought the White Birch Pack guys to my attention. They stared at me as if I was some kind of disgusting traitor.
And, of course, I was indeed a traitor to their hellish place.
Perhaps they used me as a tool to vent their emotions, describing me with all kinds of unpleasant words, and I stood in the middle of the crowd, as if I were a target.
Not everyone at Green Creek Pack knew about it either. Their expressions were very confused, and some even looked at me with suspicion, and quietly moved away from me a little.
I opened my mouth but didn't utter a single word. I knew that no matter what I said, they could not fully believe me.
These people at White Birch Pack were making acts that were too confusing.
"Ha, we have raised her so hard, and she actually treats us like this, you know, she was originally an orphan!"
"There is no trace of gratitude!"
"I wonder who she has now gone to cling to and give birth to. Didn't she already become a breeder originally?"
"Sure is a bitch."
They cursed even harder, as if that would change the fate of the White Birch Pack.
"Shut your mouths, she's an amazing fighter!" I saw someone stand out from the crowd. That person had long beautiful hair and looked like a female god of war inside a mythological legend.
It's Maria!
I looked at her in amazement, hardly believing my eyes.
"She deserves our respect for her character and ability, and she deserves all that she has!" She patted her chest heavily.
She, who was once an enemy, now trusts me so much.
I felt my eyes moisten already.
"Thank you, I don't know how I can say this better." I caught Maria's arm as she passed by me.
"Nothing to be thankful for, after all, we are comrades in arms." She patted my shoulder and winked at me mischievously again.
"And, we're best friends."
I felt that my limbs that had gone cold had regained their temperature because of these words.
After that, Elijah came out of the crowd, and I could see that his face was covered in blood, clearly, he was also wounded.
"Is that all you can do, twist the truth and use it to attack others? You say you have lived with her for a long time, but do you really know her?"
He stood tall and faced those White Birch Pack people.
"Before you ignored her value by treating her as a reproduction machine, so she left this hell and came to our territory. Now that she stands here and has shown you her power, what are you if she who is more powerful than you has no value?"
Those who were hurling abuse were told to shut their mouths, for many of them were captured by me.
Just then, Oliver stood up from the crowd and said something like, "What do you want Isabella to be thankful for, your terrible orphanage treatment, or your horrible breeder system? Sure, in your twisted mindset, it's an honor to keep producing for a group of warriors until you die, right, but no sane werewolf could tolerate that, so she left here, and she wasn't wrong."
After hearing his words, the people of Green Creek Pack began to talk.
"God, these werewolves don't deserve to live in this jungle, no wonder we're attacking this place!"
"Their breeder system simply doesn't treat women like human beings!"
"How can these people do this to our Luna!"
"They are the demons from hell, right!"
Unlike the accusations against the White Birch Pack people, they looked at me with compassionate eyes.
I had never received such attention and just felt the sweat on my body stand up in fear.
"Poor little girl..."
"Fortunately you met the Alpha and he took you out of that abyss."
"Yes!"
"Just feel free to continue living in our wolf pack!"
But White Birch Pack the warriors, who were tied and pressed to the ground, clearly did not want to hear that. They stirred up again. Their mouths opened and closed like the nasty crocodiles in the gutter.
"Are you guys brainless, believing whatever they say? We know better than you guys what kind of virtue she has, wow..."
"She's a bitch!"
"Is there no one left in this tribe of yours? How do you let women go to war."
Then I heard loud obscene laughter erupt from the captive crowd, and I didn't know what they said again, but it must have been something bad to talk about.
There they were, starting to ogle the female warriors with lewd expressions.
"Click." That Maria of mine removed the jaw of the closest White Birch Pack member. The man was still on his knees, only now he could only keep drooling and opening his mouth, looking pathetic and hateful.
"If you can't talk, I can help you shut up." Maria's expression had a touch of smugness to it.
"You bitch! When I get out I'm going to...ah!" She removed the arm of another one who was full of nonsense.
Soon, all kinds of sounds rang out. The female warriors removed the arms or jaws of the captives in front of them, just like she did. Instantly the world returned to peace, leaving only a few miserable whimpers.
"That's our Luna, and you can't afford to disrespect her."
"If the mouth is not clean, I think I can sew it on for you."
I touched my cheek. I didn't know when I had started to cry non-stop, and now half of my face was covered with traces of tears.
I had never heard anyone defend me like this since I was born, as far as I could remember. And at the moment I could be sure that I was really recognized by them as one of them.
I am overwhelmed by this realization.
Look at it. I also had a real home of my own.
The women of the White Birch Pack crouched on the ground and smiled at me as best they could.
But I knew this smile was not from the heart, but simply wariness for the strong. I guess they might still be wondering why I got the position of a breeder but didn't cherish it and made this place look like this.
But since they were willing to do so on the surface, I couldn't say anything more.
At least today this matter was considered closed.
But at that very moment, I noticed Emma's expression, which was a cold face that stood out in the crowd of fake smiles.
I thought about our previous discussion about the status of the breeder. For her, this status was incredibly prestigious, and she was the person I knew who wanted to be a breeder the most.
Maybe she still had something against me because of this.
But after all, we used to be such good friends. I still remembered the close time we both spent together at the orphanage, which was probably one of the few good memories I had at White Birch Pack. She was so innocent and sweet at that time, like an angel...
I still wanted to believe him.
Soon, she was squeezing her way through the crowd to my side. I saw those cuts on her face and felt very heartbroken.
"It's a relief to see that you're doing well." Emma grabbed my hand, her eyes wet. "I was worried before that you wouldn't survive after leaving White Birch Pack, I cried for you for a long time..."
I was glad she said that, at least it proved that nothing had changed in our friendship.
So I held her, too. As a friend, I hoped she would also have a bright future.
By the time these White Birch Pack catchers were settled in, it was late afternoon of the next day. We dragged our tired bodies and ate a simple dinner.
My mind was so preoccupied with the White Birch Pack that I didn't even react when Elijah approached me.
But he really didn't look good. He was frowning as if he was worried about something. And that something was particularly serious.
"What's wrong?" I didn't quite understand, and I couldn't help but follow the worry.
"There's something I think you should know." He stroked my cheek.
"Your good friend, Emma, maybe you'd be better off staying away from her. Oliver told me that she was beyond ecstatic to climb into the Alpha's bed after you left, and even brought that out to brag about. If the position was that important to her, she shouldn't have reacted the way she did today when she saw your disdain for the title of breeder and turned into Luna." He seriously measured my expression and took a deep breath.
"I think, at the time, it was probably then that he reported you."
"I don't think so, we are such good friends after all?"
I asked subconsciously. I still didn't want to believe that she would betray me.
But subconsciously I also felt that this thing did not seem right.
For Emma, it really shouldn't have been so calm after hearing that I refused to be a breeder. I found it hard to believe that she was sincerely happy for me.
But I felt scared about this matter.
I knew her well enough. I knew that she did not have the strength of that kind of scheming. If she was pretending all this, then what was she hiding her true thoughts for?
Emma's POV
"Emma? Are you listening?"
Liam's voice suddenly sounded in my head.
My eyes couldn't help but look around, and I got even more excited after not finding him.
Oh my God, he actually took the initiative to contact me, it's true that he still had me in his heart!
I would give everything I have for him.
"You, go seduce their Alpha." His voice didn't sound much emotional.
