Chapter 46

Isabella's pov.
"Jessica, it's not your fault." I hugged Jessica.
It's true that she hadn't had a good time before, but I vowed that I would make things better for this true friend of mine. Her tense muscles suddenly relaxed and she just sighed in my arms.
"Isabella," I heard her whisper.
"What should we do? Those girls, how should we protect them?"
Now that boy has stirred up a lot of resentment against the White Birch Pack people, and it's not enough for me or Elijah to handle that alone, they still resent the White Birch Pack people.
"I don't know. But it's certainly not something that's going to change right away." I answered sincerely. I didn't want to give her false hope.
We need time, and we need the truth. But in the meantime, we still need to take care of everyone's emotions.
"It's hard to be luna, isn't it?" Mia sighs in my head.
It was hard, but I couldn't back down. jessica left my arms and walked slowly forward with me.
I gestured for Elijah and Alex not to follow, as she probably didn't need to right now.
"You want the members of the Green Creek Pack to feel that those people are not a threat to them in any way, and that they will even bring greater help. It just takes effort on your part to create the opportunity." Mia's voice was unmistakably serious.
"I'll try to get it right. By the way, what did your father say?" I turned my head to strike up a conversation with Jessica.
With the loss of Alpha already, someone like Jessica's father becomes even more important.
"There's absolutely no way he could trust us. Although he didn't explicitly state it, I sensed it in his tone of voice." Her expression became a little more frustrated.
"It's understandable. The late-night raids we've done before will make them feel we can't be trusted." I said with some chagrin.
How could her father fit in with us so quickly? He was even beaten to a fracture at that time, which I saw with my own eyes. But if he never lets go, then this wedding can't be made official.
"Don't get too upset. If there's really no way out, you can disinvite the White Birch Pack." Jessica patted my shoulder.
"It's okay to just invite people who are nice to us, maybe like a normal couple. isabella, I know you want to do something really great, but don't make it too hard on yourself."
I understood what she meant. She wanted to make this one a normal, normal wedding, not as a proof of two wolves befriending each other.
"Don't worry about me." I shook my head.
"I'll think of something else."
I know then that this is the worst case scenario and I really don't want this to happen. That would be an eternal rift that would forever be across the hearts of the people who were originally White Birch Pack.
Although Jessica pretended not to care on the surface, her expression already betrayed her. In her heart, she should be hoping that her father and her friends she used to know can come to her wedding.
After all, I've thought about it before.
Elijah was standing in the doorway, fiddling with a book that looked a little older than he was.
"It's that what's-his-name James, he wants me to give this to you. He said for the time being he's still going to stay here, so you should study hard ...... okay."
He sounded very aggrieved.
But James is not a member of our Pack after all, and his staying in our Pack for such a long time does pose a problem. But given his relationship with me, I don't think he'll be driven out immediately.
"I'll talk him out of it as soon as I can." I hugged Elijah.
"No, it's not that I care that he's an elder or anything like that, it's just that he's taking too much of your energy and all that wizard stuff is making you too tired. I ...... well, you need to get in touch with me a little more." He looked at me like he had made a huge determination.
"Sincerity is what brings people closer together, right?"
"Well, he's still jealous." mia sounded almost choked with laughter.
"Sure, sure. I have to think about our alpha," I said as I moved up and gave him a light kiss on the cheek. I leaned against him with my arms around his shoulders, feeling his unique scent. His hands were around my waist and even his chest was rising and falling violently.
I kissed him on the lips. I wanted to get closer to him, but the heavy book separated the two of us completely.
"As much as I'd like to continue, it looks like I can't today." Filled with regret, he leaned back and pulled the book out. The metal bookmark on it had a slight deformation from the two of us squeezing it, and it looked even more worn.
"If only I could be less busy these days." I muttered. Whatever I want to do, there's not enough time for all this.
"So what did you end up doing to him?" James looked at me curiously.
There were several books and a tray of candles in front of him, and it was time for me to take the test. But I didn't even bother to look at the textbooks, I'm not sure how many of the above mantras I could really read off.
"I just held him." I felt he even had that little bit of regret.
"What's wrong?"
"Just sorry that you didn't release the pressure. Well, now get started and let me see what you've learned lately."
I lifted my hand and turned the book to the page I had bookmarked.
It was a very long incantation and I felt I could barely remember it at all. And sure enough I had to stop after the third word was read.
"No, this is too hard." I put down the spell book.
There's no way I can fully remember such a long string of incantations, especially at a time like this.
"I really don't want to be difficult for you, but this is not that simple either." James looked at me and his expression suddenly became grave.
"If you learn that, at least you can save those who are still alive."
People who are still alive?
I thought of the poor child.
"Yeah, the living. This spell with you allows you to see some reality, like the location of this antidote." He spreads his hands.
In his hand lay a very small test tube containing a piece of ore less than a quarter of the size of a fingernail.
"That's the poison he gave, the doctor and I found it in the boy's room. But if you want to find the one ingredient that will save him, you must learn this."
That spell allows me to levitate for a short period of time and can climb cliffs that are almost impossible to climb.
If I could help him, then maybe things would indeed get a little better.
"So that's what's going to be picked up?" I looked through the books.
It was a kind of mushroom that lived in the deep mountains. This mushroom was originally poisonous, but with a special method was able to save him who had already been poisoned. It is clearly written in the book how to use it. Different symptoms require different dosages.
"I'm going now!" I grabbed the piece of ore and ran out of the house in a hurry.
The sooner he gets the medicine, the more certain he will live with his disease.
"The good news is that we found the rest of the drugs in your room, and the bad news is that this time you're going to get your final judgment soon." I sat down in front of him and made myself look as completely unnerved as possible.
"You're in such a state that you won't be able to live the rest of your life in any case."
Of course these words are not the reason I came to him. I was to discover the dose he needed from this state of his performance. The good thing is that he is not particularly deeply poisoned, then only one mushroom is enough.
He's not particularly sick right now, so he doesn't need that big, old, mature mushroom either, just a little fresh one. But those mushrooms grow in more dangerous places, I need to bring a lot of people to cooperate with me in order to take them down.
I thought of those White Birch Pack guys. If they would go for me, it would obviously make this thing better. Just would they be willing to go along with me and take the risk?
"Okay. But no matter what you think, I don't think I did anything wrong." He obviously didn't care about anything I said.
Looking at his fierce gaze, I really didn't know what I should say. Eventually I just sighed.
"Yeah, you certainly I can very much understand in this situation, but do you want to hear the truth?"
He looked like he didn't understand at all and just stared at me blankly as I placed a dozen pieces of information in front of him.
That's where all his brother's test reports are kept.
At that time, we didn't deliver these to him because of his situation. But now I don't see the need to hide him anymore.
He has now brought such serious consequences, according to the normal situation we should expel him. But he has such a serious disease in him that we could have considered keeping him anyway.
Even if you live in a medical room all the time, it's better than being driven outside to become a hooligan.
He looked at me incredulously, as if he didn't even understand what I had just said.
"What do you mean? This can't be! Everything written on it must be a lie!" He suddenly went berserk.
"It was someone who should have paid for your brothers' lives. But it should be your parents who grew up taking poor care of you and didn't even care about the condition that might be in you." I made myself sound as calm as possible. Arguing with him at a time like this wouldn't solve anything.
"But that was only after a trip to White Birch Pack. If he hadn't gone, there probably wouldn't have been any problems at all!"
His voice sounded very raw and torn up, but ......
He still didn't get to the point of the matter.
"The final examination also proved that the disease was the cause. We are deeply sorry for his loss. But more important than that, it's you. Do you know that you have a physical problem now?" I remained calm.
He stopped his frenzied movements and just shook his head.
I lifted my hand and showed him my own fingers.
"It's not the same shape as yours, is it? That's the problem. You have a disease, and it's going to kill you."
