Chapter 34
Isabella's POV.
"I don't suppose there's anything left to say between us?" I took a step back.
But I was retreating towards the back corridor instead of forcing myself into the same corner, and he laughed at this same look on my face.
"If it was for you per se that would be true, but you are the luna of the Green Creek Pack. so I thought we could have a conversation as leaders to each other?"
I was a little curious when he said that, but I knew there was no way he would acknowledge female leadership. I made a gesture to indicate that he should continue.
"I can undo what I said before, but I need you to pay something for it." He looked at me seriously.
"What's the price?"
In fact, I wouldn't agree to anything he said, but I wanted to find some traces inside what he said.
If he could really give those girls to the elders as gifts, then there should be some loopholes in what he usually says.
"You and those female warriors who appear at the negotiating table must obey my orders unconditionally." He laughed even more.
I frowned.
But that alone is not enough. I couldn't tell if he would really want to send us to those elders, or if he just wanted to satisfy his own desires.
"This is not negotiable. If you try to invade our Pack in this way, then we'll make you pay for it too." I looked at him firmly.
He didn't seem surprised that I would answer that way, just smiled and looked at me. The moment he leaned forward, I took a step backward to avoid it.
But he didn't seem to feel embarrassed at all and just rubbed his hands together.
"Then we'll wait and see. If you're already dead next year, I'll offer flowers to your grave."
"Me too." I looked at him with the same smile.
Soon he disappeared from my view, and I ran back as fast as I could.
It certainly wasn't good for him to show up, and I had reason to suspect that he was stalling for something to do. Before I could run back to my house, I saw a child with a very swollen eye.
I recognize this child, she is the brother of a female soldier I trained before. He cried even more when he saw me.
"A very tall and fit stranger just walked towards your room ...... but fortunately I stopped him. He hit me!"
I looked at the little boy in front of me who was bruised and battered, and my heart ached.
"Don't worry luna, he didn't go to your room, he was caught by the guards ...... hey luna?"
Kids, he's aiming for the kids!
I sprinted as fast as I could reach toward my place.
Outside the door there was this series of footprints, obviously left by Liam when he came to paint our place, but they broke off when he reached the door. This was followed by an imprint of a whole man falling to the ground, which is where he was pinned down by the others.
I pulled the door open with a jerk.
The baby was sleeping peacefully in his crib and seemed to be sleeping well. When he saw me coming, he reached out his hand and opened his mouth to scream at me.
Sounds a lot like a very small pup.
"It's a good thing he didn't take it." I held him in my arms.
He reached out and rubbed his hand on my face again and again, the child's body with its characteristic milk scent, and I buried my face in his. I didn't dare cry because I was afraid to affect the child himself.
Elijah soon arrived. He carefully examined the furnishings around him with a very serious expression.
Elijah's POV.
"I really can't figure out why he would want to come after my kids."
Isabella looked at the child in front of her and poked him in the cheek.
"Maybe it's because he can blackmail you with this child." I replied softly.
Oliver, as he said before, said that the offspring of White Birch Pack breeders would be breeders. So Liam must be playing with the idea of wanting to come and take Isabella's daughter away.
This means that he did not know that our child was a son, but he knew that Isabella had been pregnant before.
On the one hand I'm glad that he didn't infiltrate the wizards, but on the other hand I think that there is really no one more disgusting than Liam.
I shudder to think what would happen if he did take my child away from me. And what should I do if he were to use our child as blackmail?
"Don't worry, I'm here." I hugged Isabella from behind.
"I will make him pay for what he has done."
But according to the rules, what Liam did, again, had to wait until both of us had completed our assessment before we could make a settlement. We can only deal with him now because of his trespassing.
But it was too light for him.
"Knock, knock, knock."
"Please come in?" I looked up at the door, where Oliver was standing, holding a dozen documents and hesitating to enter the room.
"Well, I guess I'd better get right to it. what Liam did was hateful." He was clearly pissed off beyond belief.
Turns out Liam didn't just try to come and steal our baby, he almost violated one of our girls here!
I shudder to think what she has been through.
"I'm going to go with you guys on this one." Isabella tugged at me.
I did want to stop her. But the determination in her eyes made me unable to say "no" at all. I chose to believe in her strength.
"Sure." I nodded.
Isabella's POV.
The guard was guarding the door. When he saw Elijah and I approaching, he rushed forward. But there was no one beside him.
"Liam where is he?" I suddenly felt a little strange.
"Arrested, but he now refuses to admit any guilt, he must wait until the White Birch Pack people defend him before he will talk." The guard reported to me seriously.
At the very least he really treated me like a manager, because he didn't even turn his head to look at Elijah who was handling things further away. i was very pleased with his attitude.
"Of course he does. He's strong enough, but that doesn't mean he won't be sophomoric either." I muttered.
I think I'm one of the people who knows Liam better.
"Let's go see the little girl first, how are you treating her."
This is another poor little girl. When I saw her, she was sitting there aggressively wrapped in a blanket.
Next to her were the broken bottles with the glasses. But all these glasses were received, a very small area.
"Are you okay, Vivian?" I called her name. She looked up at the sound of my voice, her eyes full of tears.
"Luna, I was just having a drink to celebrate my bar mitzvah, but he just barged in out of nowhere. I have no idea who he is ......"
I hugged her and didn't know how to comfort her anymore.
I took her to the medical room while I went to interrogate Liam, who was in confinement, and he seemed very grounded and very unhappy with our arrangement.
"Of course, ordinary people like you are not qualified to know me, I am the alpha of White Birch Pack. if you want, you can also become the luna of our wolf pack in the future."
When I arrived, he was even trying to flirt with our Pack's female fighter. And the female fighter shined a punch in his face.
"I just like you!" He screamed.
What a perfect way to say it. I knew that with that mouth alone, he would be able to package this trespassing he just did into a love affair with this girl.
"No matter what your rules are there, in our place you must knock first if you want to enter a lady's house. And since you broke the rules, we still have the right to dispose of you." I interrupted him by clearing my throat.
Looking at him still looking like he was trying to defend himself, I suddenly remembered what he had said earlier.
"The elders have said that when a majority agrees, then the rule stands." I stared him dead in the eye.
"So according to this article, I can also come to sanction you."
"Of course of course, sorry little girl." Liam waved his hand and turned around and walked away.
But in that moment before he turned around, I saw the fierce look in his eyes. That look was as if he wanted to tear me apart, drink all the blood from my body and eat all the flesh from my body.
"I think I know why the White Birch Pack should disappear. Their alpha is all over the place." The female warrior grumbled beside me.
But I could see that Liam didn't get much out of her either. She had injuries on her hands, but they were basically caused by breaking Liam's nasal bone, and the rest of her body was basically unscathed.
"You did a good job, but your skills still need to be improved. When this is all over, I'd like to spar with you and exchange ideas." I patted her on the shoulder.
I could clearly see another glint in her eyes, and the chagrin of being harassed by Liam earlier had completely disappeared from her.
Really good.
I turned around and headed for my place. It was now evening, and the plummeting temperature caused me to sneeze uncontrollably. And just as I was about to sneeze a third time, I felt a weight on my shoulder.
Someone put a coat on me.
"Did you take care of that one?" Elijah asked me, rubbing his head.
He had just taken another medicinal bath, and I could smell the herbs and pine on him as I leaned forward to caress his muscles.
"Yes. Liam did those bad things again that he had been trying to do before, but got beaten up by our warrior women." I summed it up briefly.
Sure enough, they can't change their habits, and even in our territory, they want to live like they did before.
"That's why their wolves should disappear, that tradition shouldn't survive." Elijah kissed me on the forehead.
"Come on, it's time for us to go back and rest. There's the next test after all."
Only by passing these tests can I change all of this. This I certainly understand.
The next morning, we were called by those elders to a waterfall in the mountains. It was very cold here, but I didn't see anything related to magic or warriors.
This is too strange.
But before anything could be said, I lost consciousness.
