Chapter 30
Isabella's POV.
Oliver took out a number of bags. From my point of view, I could see that it contained all kinds of evidence about the matter.
I think he really made a special effort for this.
"These are the evidence we have collected for the White Birch Pack."
But Liam on the other side of the table clearly looked like "What, that's it? You'll die a horrible death" look.
Not only did he not realize how bad what he did was, he even tried to make us pay for it!
"Aren't they supposed to be on our side?" I felt very uncomprehending and spoke to Elijah in the companion link.
"Don't they know about all the things the White Birch Pack has done before?"
"The fact that those elders are willing to come with him proves that they are skeptical about this matter. It's even possible that they're on Liam's side." Elijah replied to me.
"So for this we have to be prepared ......"
"You guys are very private with all this evidence, how did you get them, does that mean you ...... have them?" Liam blinked very dramatically and then covered his face, his expression was like an accusation.
"I consider myself a very rule-abiding Alpha, and I lead my Pack to live deep in the mountains. How did we ever meet neighbors like you?"
And how did we ever meet a neighbor like you? I clenched my fist in anger.
"Besides, as the Alpha of the White Birch Pack, I have the right to deal with the traitors of our Pack. Don't you think so, Isabella?" Liam looked over at me with arrogance of sorts.
"On top of the compensation that should be available, I would like Isabella, the traitor, to receive the punishment she deserves. I don't think anyone has any problem with that, right?"
"No comment. This lady should fulfill her obligations as a breeder." Those elders echoed.
"That's the agreed-upon rule."
"Oh yes, and this undercover gentleman, I appreciate everything you've done for us in the past, but what you're doing now is a complete betrayal of our Pack, and you need to pay for it."
He looked to Oliver with an unmistakable fierce gaze.
Elijah's POV.
"Do you two have anything you want to argue about this?" The elders looked at us in unison.
This must be their trap.
"The most important thing is to protect everyone in the Pack, including Isabella," the wolf growled low in my head.
"But they, how dare they do this?"
"The White Birch Pack used to do very cruel things around here, and we did it purely in self-defense." I stepped forward and held Isabella back.
"Is masturbation all it takes to be able to plant a scout like that in the rest of the Pack? We only have this one doctor in the Pack, and you know what would happen if he would treat us like that?" Liam looked even more smug than just now.
"What the White Birch Pack did was not against Pack rules. After all, all of them agree with the breeder system, so Elijah what you say is not valid."
"Yes we do!" said those members of the White Birch Pack who were called to the sidelines.
At this moment I hate them immensely, not only are they themselves brainwashed, but even now they are coming forward to testify for Liam, in which case we are definitely going to lose badly in this matter.
What should I do?
I admit, I had some panic at this moment.
"See? That's what they think, so hurry up and hand over Isabella! If we get the traitor back, I can consider not holding you Pack accountable."
"I saw it once, many female corpses." Isabella stood in front of me.
Her body trembled as if she had made a great determination.
"The bodies were placed under a cliff not far from White Birch Pack. The white bones are piled up in heaps, all of them are the women who died of exhaustion. In White Birch Pack, those women were used as breeding tools ......"
The faces of the White Birch Pack were mostly confused and angry, but I'm sure the anger was directed at us alone.
"If I hadn't run out, I would have been one of them."
The elders just looked at us calmly, as if they were watching some joke, but then they laughed again.
"It goes back to the original question. It's a give and take for the Pack, and I don't think there's a White Birch Pack person who doesn't like the position, right?" Liam looked over at the White Birch Pack guys standing in the distance.
Those people looked at him with eyes full of worship, as if he was the god of this world.
"Even if they see their bones, their opinion won't change." I heard Oliver chanting behind us.
"What those people bring to them is like brainwashing, and you can't convince them that way."
I thought about before. The efforts I made with these people, they never seemed to listen to what I was saying.
Oliver's POV.
"Is there any evidence you can show for the things you said?" Elijah sent me a message in the link.
"We can give them a big gift if we can."
I know he would never give Isabella away, but. There is a good chance that our entire Pack is being crushed by the rest of the Pack because of this.
But just now I told Elijah a most important information, in this time I investigated out those elders actually got from Liam sent over some wolves.
I have reason to suspect that at that time, they took Isabella not only to take revenge, but also to give Isabella to them. Under such circumstances, these elders would surely only side with Liam.
If we want to resist, there is almost no way.
I thought of the girl who had been brought back by Isabella and hadn't spoken yet.
Perhaps she will have something to do with this, but if that is the case to let her come forward to testify for us, then it is too cruel. And if the matter is said in public, then I'm afraid we will be subject to more serious retaliation.
"I'm afraid we'll need to find enough girls to do that. But I'm not sure which of them are still alive." I answered Elijah.
"One can only find a way to prove the matter from the side."
Such a thing is very difficult and we need time. I see that Liam is still bandaged, so he must get tired very easily. This is something that people who have not fully healed from their injuries are bound to experience.
"Why don't we take a break and discuss this matter tomorrow, how look everyone is very tired." I braced myself with a smile and bravely stepped forward.
When I said tired, I was addressing those elders among them who had been in contact with Liam.
They looked at me with very mixed eyes, and I knew that what I was doing now was working.
They know that I was working in the same Pack that they got the benefit of before, and even if I don't have the means to tell those things they did now, I will definitely have the evidence in my hands.
"Okay, then we'll think about this tomorrow ......!"
This allowed the entire Pack to rest.
Isabella sat across from me, carefully examining the materials in the tiny specimen bags.
I know that there are many things that he has probably never even heard of before.
"Could they be connected to the vampire bats in some way?" Isabella frowned.
"Otherwise I just can't imagine why those elders would be on Liam's side."
I wanted very much to tell her the truth about this matter.
But if I told her, then it would be another kind of damage to her body and mind. So I thought about it and just nodded my head.
"Excuse me, someone's here." Alex walked over to me and placed a fire-painted seal on the table.
"They call themselves elders."
She and I also just had to relay the news to Alpha.
"That is indeed their sign, and it looks like the remaining elders are here." Elijah frowned.
"This means that these elders have divided themselves into two factions ......"
"For us, it's rather an easy task." I answered him.
If all the elders became prisoners of that thing, then the whole werewolf race would only be finished.
The elders were housed in a hut on the border of the Pack. They were allowed to leave only when alpha and I arrived.
"Ah, Elijah. how are you guys doing?" One of the men came up enthusiastically.
"We don't know why those elders are willing to speak up for Liam, but we are on your side." Another elder said.
He explained to us the recent situation.
These elders don't live in the same Pack and usually don't have much contact with each other. But recently, they had a keen feeling that the elders who were close to Liam were living together for some reason.
This doesn't really fit the rules very well. A Pack is not allowed to have too many elders. Otherwise that Pack would have too much power.
But I knew what was going on. They must have been together, receiving a "gift" from Liam. Only then would they have had the least amount of contact with Liam and be the least suspicious.
But even so, according to the rules, such an amount is still not enough.
I guess maybe they're having another night of total sleeplessness, but there's not much I can do about it.
Elijah's POV.
After the sun rose, everyone in the Pack gathered in the hall.
Liam was surprised by the presence of the elders, but he soon smiled again.
"You think you can beat me like that ......? Resign yourself to your fate, Elijah. i was born to be the Alpha."
"According to the Pack's rules, the handling of the Pack needs to be based on the votes of all 11 elders, and right now we're still missing two elders, so how about we elect new ones?"
I said calmly.
The surprised voices around me almost drowned me out.
"When the number of elders is too low you can vote directly, or you can select new elders. what Elijah said fits the bill." One of the elders explained for me.
"Do you dare? Aren't you afraid you'll die because of this? Losing face is not a big deal. But losing your life is quite serious, and if you die, then I guess your partner can also marry someone else, right?" Liam looked at Isabella with the eyes of a beast.
And even more frightening than that, the elders who were on Liam's side had the same look on their faces.
I clench my fist.
These people, I will make them pay for this sooner or later.
