Chapter 51
Isabella's POV.
"Let me go, alpha. trust me, I think I'm strong enough." Jessica understood what I meant and turned her head to Elijah.
I hoped beyond hope that Elijah would agree to her request, it would at least make her feel a little more at ease.
"Of course, Jessica. but on top of that I need to choose a few more who can go with you, and you will be taking on this responsibility together."
"Great!" The warrior women jumped up from the ground. They high-fived and celebrated this together.
"Warriors are more eager to be recognized. In that sense, they are no worse than anyone else." Mia lamented inside my head.
"I hope they will learn more, otherwise this is just too dangerous."
I understand that, too, so I will try my best to teach them.
It's just that it's really time to rest today. Continuing further would only drain their strength.
When I came out of the training grounds, I saw someone I hadn't seen in a long time.
"luna, I ......" The red-haired dragon boy looked very nervous, and he even had a huge basket in his hands. He must have been waiting here for a long time, but why didn't he go in and find us?
"Is there anything I can do?Beta Oliver asked me to ask you if there was any task assigned to me." His voice sounded a little shaky.
He was still afraid to make contact with us.
He looked much stronger because of his recent good diet, and he even learned to use electronic devices; James was so fond of him that he even gave him a very "James-style" name.
But given what happened before, I really don't want to bother him anymore.
He deserves a new life of his own.
"Oh, sure. tom, you follow them to the wizard's territory. You need to be careful on the way, because who knows if those people will ambush you in the jungle." I instructed him. As things stand now, this is just as important.
And, perhaps he would be able to protect those children better if he went there. That was the last thing I needed him to do. If I just let him stay here idle, I'm afraid he will be more upset.
But suddenly I thought of something more important.
"Is James' research finished?" When I said this, I noticed that he was finally less nervous. Maybe that research was the only thing he could help with, otherwise he wouldn't have been so forthcoming.
"That's why I came here to see you today, Mr. James said he's found a way to make those blood-sucking bats disappear." His expression was distinctly sincere.
But knowing James as I do, I knew he must have something else to say.
"He will escort your crowd back with him this time, and he will test it in his own laboratory. When it comes to a successful test, he will send that method back to you. He says it is too difficult for you to operate on your own now, and he does not want to take the risk."
"Yes, of course he did." I couldn't call it much fun, but I wasn't upset at all either.
I've just been too busy lately, which has led to my progress not being able to keep up with his needs, and if there's some spell that he feels is beyond my reach, then I can totally understand.
The Green Creek Pack's territory is far less severely affected by blood-sucking bats than the wizard's pack. There are even many of us among the pack who have not heard of the recent vampire bat incident at all.
"He also said that he would comfort you and console you if he saw you were sad. But you seem to be in a pretty good mood." Tom continued to pick up the conversation.
Come on, he can stop! Someone should really teach him what to say and what not to say!
"Yes, so you go with them, that's what's best for you." I smiled and reassured him.
"The jungle is more dangerous than we can imagine, you're our ace in the hole."
This statement encouraged him greatly. Like a huge rabbit, he crossed joyfully from my face.
The moment of the duel had arrived. Five days wasn't really enough time to bring about any fundamental change, but it was enough time to get the little kids out. Those White Birch Pack warriors left quickly, led by Jessica's father. At least at this point, they were quite professional.
"Now we don't have anything to worry about, we just need to take care of this battle in front of us." Mia sighed inside my head.
"My dear girl, are you ready?"
"Already." I muttered out loud, pinning the weapon hanging on the wall to my own belt.
The area of the appointment was the border area on our territory. It had a lot of vegetation, but that also meant we could have good cover. After all, this place is more familiar to us.
I had long since transformed into my wolf form. A relatively thin figure followed me, and I would say that the position she was in didn't particularly fit the formation.
"Are you nervous?" I asked her in a small voice.
"No, luna, I'm just a little cold." The girl replied. But I could tell that she just had a slight shiver.
I got close to her and raised my front paws and took her in my arms.
It's very common for this feeling to occur when you're nervous. I even felt her heart beat faster because of it.
"It's almost time, honey." I whispered to her.
"We have to be ready to do that."
Jessica's squad was in charge of going to the front of the line to make a feint. So by the time the glow sticks they carried glowed, we were ready to advance.
Jessica's POV.
"Stay calm and don't panic." Wolf whispered in my head.
"This isn't for you, this is for myself."
She quickly added.
Yes, if the wolf suddenly storms out here, then it will indeed pose a great danger. I could understand this.
I walked at the front of the group, which I had to do as the leader of this small group. I was followed closely by a few girls who also belonged to the White Birch Pack, whose bravery I admired.
But then again, thanks to luna and alpha for being willing to believe in us. This position is so important that I didn't even hold out any hope at the beginning.
After all, we really are not the same as the Green Creek Pack fighters who have been trained since they were kids.
"Are the Green Creek Pack guys coming tonight?" I heard someone speaking not far away.
It was two figures that clearly appeared to be werewolf warriors. They were topless and gnawing on a hare.
"Surely they will come, and they must be worried. After all, they are as weak as they are ......"
But they weren't exactly outnumbered. At the very least, there is a huge difference from what we counted. I have reason to suspect that they are also just some kind of decoys.
"Wait a little longer." I crept on the ground and tried to hide my target. Hiding myself in the middle of the night would not have been difficult, but those people were, after all, the most remarkable warriors inside the werewolf pack.
Immediately after that, more and more warriors appeared. They were no longer considered small in number. They looked like they were assembling.
"Now is the time!" I howled violently at the sky. Immediately after that I rushed forward.
The one who was still gnawing on the rabbit just now hadn't even had the chance to transform. He threw the rabbit in his hand directly at me, the greasy juice almost wetting my fur.
The bag of glitter on me was chewed through.
Isabella's POV.
In the darkness, I saw the little bit of bright light.
It was Jessica's signal. It meant the attack on their side had begun and we could rush through.
"Begin!"
I shouted at the sky with Elijah. This meant that the whole Pack would gather and charge forward.
Immediately after that, everyone charged forward together.
This was our strategy. The wolves have a clear front and back when they attack, and Jessica's group is designed to expose the weaknesses of those people in front of us.
Of course, they can be used on us as well. It all depends on who has more experience. Those elders naturally understand all the methods very well, but I firmly believe that Jessica's ability is not too bad.
We turned into wolves and rushed towards that side in the moonlight. For the sake of our Pack, we had to use all our strength.
The wolves on the other side obviously didn't expect us to be there, and they became visibly panicked. Some of them even crashed into the others.
"Looks like you won!" Mia's voice became lighter.
"That's thanks to Jessica, who had a really good grasp of events." I went down the crowd to look for her. She was standing in front, her wolf skin scratched by something, but it didn't look like a particularly serious problem.
I snagged a wolf by the neck and desperately tried to flip him over.
This man I recognized as one of the elders who was on Liam's side. He looked young, but there was a clear scar on his face. Even if he turns into a wolf this mark will still not be removed.
He was breathing heavily and sounded like he was just laughing.
"Give it up, woman. Your wolves are indeed powerful, but do you think you can defeat us, who are made up of elites? If you surrender your territory now, we can still ......"
"No, there is no possibility." I bit down on his neck.
This matter should not go on any longer. I didn't want to hear any more about his plans for himself, he should just lie here and enjoy the results of being a man who had framed countless of his own people!
He faded out of breath and I jumped aside in dismay. I don't know if my ribs were cracked in this incident, but it really hurt.
The men roared, and those glowing eyes looked incredibly frightening in the dark forest. Even though many people had fallen, this scene still could not make people feel the slightest bit of relief.
The opponent's people are not particularly large, but after all, every one of them is a remarkable warrior. There were even some that were elders.
Gradually, our people really couldn't support it anymore.
I was lying on the ground because I was off my feet. I don't know if my arm still works, but at the very least it has now lost all sense of just sensation.
All the people were now fighting in the same position, but the leaves were trembling in the face of the dew. This usually means that someone is running fast.
It seems that more people are coming.
