Chapter 42

Isabella's POV.
"I'm so happy to see Liam in exile. I think I'll even live a few more years because of it." Mia howled happily inside my head.
I wanted to remind her that her life expectancy is as long as mine, but I thought better of it and shut up. Just let the joy last a little longer.
As for those elders, they will receive the punishment they deserve. We will open a new elder test for selecting those members who are more impartial.
The days of Liam and his cohorts are over. I really want to celebrate.
"Luna, we're celebrating this win now, do you want to come along?" Alex suddenly appeared at my window.
"Sure."
I froze and answered him with a smile. I put down the clothes in my hands and turned to change into a light, party-appropriate dress.
Soon it was evening and everyone was singing and dancing around the campfire, even I couldn't help but hum along with them to the tune.
Those kids couldn't drink, so they were holding juice bottles. They climbed up the tree and looked like monkeys. I caught an apple that one of them dropped.
"You ...... you're Isabella, right?"
A voice that I hadn't heard in a long time suddenly sounded in my ears. I turned my head and saw a girl with a somewhat haggard face.
"Jessica! You're Jessica?" my eyes widened in surprise.
I felt like I hadn't seen her in years. We both walked through the crowd and hugged each other tightly.
"I heard you became luna here. i don't know if i should come to see you, but i think we should probably ......"
"We'll always be partners." I interrupted her.
She is a former friend of mine.
When I was living in the White Birch Pack, she was one of the few female warriors I was able to train with.
My wolf wasn't very good at real combat, so there were a lot of tricks that she helped me with. It's just that she was put in tight quarters before I reached adulthood, and the back to Green Creek Pack was just a break in the infirmary.
During her transformation into a wolf, many people came up to look at her, but she avoided them all. Those people hate her, but because of her father who has a position in White Birch Pack, those people can't do anything to her.
Of course, it was because of this that she was one of the few members of the White Birch Pack to come out for this celebration. Most of them would rather hide in their houses, silently grieving for the White Birch Pack, which is sure to disappear.
"I'm so happy to meet you again, Isabella. before this I thought you had ......"
Her voice was a little choked up. I know they all thought I was a dead man because they really didn't want anyone to be able to see the light of escape from White Birch Pack.
But the reality is that I think it's much better to be away than to have to be around them.
"I'm alive and well. You will all live well in the future too. This is my promise to you." I told her solemnly.
Elijah was dancing with the warriors. Their war dance looked very powerful, and in between dances, he looked up at me. The moment I met his eyes, I just felt like my whole body was going to burn up.
So I turned my head away, not daring to continue to look.
"Luna! Would you like some wine?" Alex walked up to me with two glasses of fruit wine. Immediately after that, he looked at Jessica.
This time, he, who has always been good at sophistry, couldn't say anything. He just looked at Jessica as if he was under some spell that couldn't move.
Likewise, Jessica looked at him. Both of them seemed to be like stone statues, remaining in their original state after that moment of meeting eyes.
Everything else becomes a backdrop.
"It's amazing, these two are MATE," Mia marveled inside my head.
"I should have known that. There is nothing else more powerful than the MATE link, and it was a sure way to urge Jessica to come here."
"Yes, then I think we should make it happen for them. They should be together." I clenched my hand.
The two of them soon stuck together as if under some kind of spell. I have reason to suspect that these two might even have stayed together tonight if Alex's brother hadn't happened to think he was drunk and dragged him away.
With my glass in hand, I pulled Jessica, who was still soul-less, to my side.
"You don't look like you're doing so well?" I handed her the glass.
"No, I couldn't be nicer. I think you should know the feeling. When you're around your MATE, you feel like he's a magnet that's going to draw you right in. And you also feel incredibly at ease around him." Jessica covered her face.
"That boy must be my mate. what should I do? I don't know if my father will ......"
I held her in my arms.
In the distant past, we used to snuggle together like this too. But that all faded away because she was locked up.
I thought at first that she was avoiding me on purpose. Now it seems I owe it to her. I should make a small effort to improve our relationship.
It was good that she accepted this and continued to talk to me slowly.
"I don't know how to describe the feeling to you, Isabella. it's like you've been walking in the snow and suddenly you meet a charcoal fire, or you've been hungry for 10 days and you see a table full of delicious food. Now I think I'm afraid I can't get away from him, there's no way I can take my eyes off of him."
It's a werewolf instinct that I know and I've experienced for real.
I can understand her saying this, but behind this lies a danger we all understand. Her father does not necessarily approve of the marriage, and if the White Birch Pack custom is followed, then she is bound to be dictated to by her father.
"But this is, after all, the Green Creek Pack, where Elijah and I make all the decisions."
I comforted her.
At the very least we were able to ensure that she was allowed to choose who she liked, even if the opponent was once, in our opinion, the very powerful Liam.
Her expression clearly looked a little more relaxed.
"I've grown a lot, I've learned a lot here, and you really don't have to worry too much. After all, we're the only Pack with double elders, and there's no one stronger than us!" I changed to a more relaxed tone.
"Yes, that must be it." She also clenched her fists firmly.
"Luna! Alpha!" I was drawn to the idea by a distant shout.
"Stop! You troublemakers!" I screamed at them out of breath.
Those young wolves looked so excited that I really didn't want to stop them in the first place. But these kids were already thinking about taking the turkeys that the elders kept as pets.
"They seem really happy, but it's really time to take a break when this thing can pass." Jessica expressed her understanding.
"I'm afraid what comes next will be even trickier." I sighed softly.
"And I think you know how stubborn they are."
The hierarchy in the White Birch Pack is very rigid. So if we want to make changes, we have to be able to make those in high places feel the difference.
This is very difficult. Because the Green Creek Pack people will certainly not serve them as well as the White Birch Pack ones.
Jessica's father is one of the more prestigious ones, and he has received so much welfare in the past that I think it would be hard for him to accept living with us.
"Father still loves me. isabella, I believe you." She took my hand in hers. This gave me great strength.
Early the next morning, I arrived at Jessica's father's place.
"If you are trying to convince me, then there is absolutely no possibility that your people here are barbaric and rude ......" he muttered about the poor quality of the tea, clutching his cup.
That's really because no one will serve them like they do at White Birch Pack.
"No, I'm here to talk about your daughter." I sat in front of him as gracefully as I could.
"We all know your daughter is not having a good time at White Birch Pack."
I presented him with a different expression.
His daughter has just found her MATE, that is a warrior of the Green Creek Pack. If the rules of the White Birch Pack are followed, she needs to dedicate herself to Liam first at the ritual. But I know that she dislikes Liam just as much.
She's totally like a love-brained little wretch right now, or at least that's how I described her to her father.
But it was such a girl who went against the White Birch Pack norm that I knew she would likely be my breakthrough. Because her father certainly understands the way she behaves, too.
"Here she can live with just the person she likes without the hold of alpha." I finally came to my own conclusion.
I think this elder's expression was more or less moved.
He is definitely worried about his children.
Elijah's POV.
I never really thought Alex would find me. Before that, I always thought he was just a weak werewolf who couldn't even claim to be a warrior.
"I want to marry Jessica, you know, the one who stays in the same room with luna."
Of course I knew the girl, and that's why I didn't want to talk to him. But since this is the tenth time he has told me about it, I have no reason to continue to refuse.
"Have you really decided to marry her? I think you should know who she is." I looked at him helplessly.
It's not that I'm stopping Alex from doing this, it's just that this so-called first person to intermarry with what turns out to be the White Birch Pack, he's bound to be extremely censured.
Alex is too young and I don't think this one thing is necessarily something he can handle.
"Alpha, I think you understand that feeling of not being able to restrain yourself when you meet with your MATE, and I think it will definitely be her. Since someone must be the first, I think this brave person can also be me." He patted his chest.
I certainly understand. A werewolf's MATE is not chosen by himself, it is dictated by the Moon Goddess. All decisions she makes must be the best ones.
But even if that's the case. I don't think that's a reason for him to be at the forefront of this thing.
But since he was so insistent, I guess I shouldn't say anything else.
Their wedding will be the grandest and I will make it so that they will all be satisfied.
