Chapter 45
Isabella's POV.
"Then what are you waiting for, let's hurry over!" I said and was about to get up straight from the chair. But Oliver quickly held me down directly.
"If you go now, that kid will definitely notice something!" Oliver's tone simply didn't give me any room for maneuvering.
"Why don't you nurse your wounds first and then think about this matter?"
Well, that makes sense. I had to choose to compromise. If my body collapsed first, then none of this would make sense.
"So here's the deal. If you can get a good night's rest, you'll get all the information we're investigating. Conversely, those who continue to stay up late won't get any help." Elijah looked me in the eye.
I know this is a concession and also a way for us to monitor each other. The one that stays up late is the one that will lose.
"What a great idea, solving both of your problems at the same time. Can I press the 'yes' button instead of both of you?" Oliver held up his hand in the middle of us.
It's a little difficult, but it's actually okay.
Maria is responsible for the training of the new generation of children, so she is naturally qualified to obtain the names of all the children. The investigation was left to her. I stayed in the infirmary to continue resting, and it wasn't long before I lost consciousness.
When I woke up again, all I saw was a shadow looming in front of me. It didn't look like Elijah or Oliver, because he was just too short.
But, speaking of those two ......Elijah and Oliver, I can't believe they gave me tranquilizers! I sat up with a start. Have they already started using this method in order to make me sleep?
The figure seemed to be frightened by me. He jumped back a step, and whatever he had intended to put in front of me was subconsciously taken away.
"That, luna......," he tried in a small voice. It took me a moment to identify the person in front of me.
That's the same kid who took me to the cooler at the time!
But how did he know that I was injured and would definitely be here?
An idea came to my mind, but I prefer it to be a misjudgment on my part.
"How do you ......" I looked at him with feigned surprise. But he just dropped a banana in front of my face and ran out again sheepishly.
But there was no way around it. I had to go and verify. I stood up and walked toward the library.
I knew that earlier when I was studying here. It doesn't just have the books everyone is looking for, it has all the information everyone needs. That's the real reason why the library is well looked after.
"About him? That does have a bit." The fat uncle handed me a dozen pieces of information. On it was printed a youth who bore an eighty percent resemblance to that child.
But his picture is in black and white, which proves that he has passed away.
I looked at the man in front of me in surprise.
"This is his brother, who has passed away. Right after attacking the White Birch Pack."
I responded. But the cause of death on this was disease, not war.
"Are you suspecting him because of that recent incident?"
This man is very smart, so this question instead I do not know how to answer. But just as I was thinking, he sighed softly.
"Although he's really a good kid, it's been weird lately. So I don't know if he would really do that kind of ...... thing. Still I hope luna you prepare a little more evidence."
I nodded my head to show my understanding and took away his materials at the same time. I sat in a corner of the library and read those materials carefully.
"Yes, of course, I know that alone is not enough." I looked at the information in my hand and talked to myself.
His brother was the one most injured in that battle, but in fact his brother died because of a genetic disease.
Would things have changed if he had known the truth?
I don't really think so. It's just that I knew I couldn't just rashly save him. He needs to get a lesson to understand what he can and can't ever do.
"I think we found out who did it." Elijah sent a message in the companion link.
"Soon we'll have him caught, but it's a private trial. Do you want to come along?"
"Of course, after all, I am one of the victims." I was relieved to hear this instead. The boy, at last, was going to get the education he deserved.
The reason why it was a private trial was because he hadn't turned into a wolf yet and was a complete child. For a child, any Pack would be a little more forgiving.
But the boy clearly did not want to understand this, he struggled desperately, as if there was a chance of change if he could just run away from here.
"He's hopeless, I've never seen a kid like that." Elijah trolled in the companion link.
"Kids like that should get a strict education, not be here yelling at us."
I agreed with this, but I couldn't help but worry about his educational philosophy. But it was only for a moment.
"You think you're doing the right thing when they hurt my loved ones and you want me to forgive them?" He growled at us desperately as he was pinned to the chair once again. It was like a crazy wolf that had lost control.
Maria also looked at him in horror. I don't think there are very many children who can explode with such power.
"No, I didn't mean for you to necessarily accept the person who hurt your brother. But them, they're innocent." I frowned and stood up in front of everyone.
Those girls can't be here, so it's just me here. I have to make accusations against him on behalf of those girls.
"No one is innocent." He looked up at me with an expression as if he wanted to eat me up. Even at White Birch Pack, I rarely see such an expression in the eyes of a small child. This at least proved he was smart enough.
Well, no wonder he follows Alex around. He knew Alex would definitely be a little more in touch with me.
"Regardless, you hurt someone, that's what you're going to pay for." Elijah interrupted him.
We all know that there is no point in continuing to talk to him now. His ideas are simply too stubborn and nothing can change him at all.
But just then, the boy looked at me. For a moment, I even thought he was coming to apologize to me.
"I'm very sorry, luna. but I don't want them to live well." His expression, however, didn't look like he wanted to apologize to me.
I knew for sure I couldn't convince him easily anymore, but I still wanted to try. No matter what, those girls he poisoned are innocent. Even if he wanted to take revenge, the revenge should not be on those girls.
"You just take a bunch of hurt women to satisfy yourself? Don't you know that they are victims too? If you want to do something about it, go fight the warriors who have been expelled." I slammed at the table, trying to sound a little more authoritative.
What is the difference between those who bully the weak and those of White Birch Pack?
He did seem frozen by what I said and looked at me dumbfounded.
"Figure this out."
I waved my hand and signaled for the guards to take him away.
"Oh yes, I forgot to tell you. The way you poisoned yourself was not wise, and were you unable to sleep late at night? This is just the beginning. In two months you'll be dead." Oliver, who had been silent for a long time, opened his mouth.
This time the child was completely frozen. There were even tears in his eyes, and he looked at us pitifully, as if he was praying for us to continue his life.
"But while you're confined, we'll help you heal. It's our responsibility."
Jessica's POV.
"Can I go see the boy?" Once again, I came up to the door of that cell.
"Of course. But he's already on the verge of an attack. I think he's probably not in much of a mood to talk to you." beta Oliver looked at me seriously.
I found him reliable when I was at White Birch Pack, and he remains so now. I trust him as much as I trust my father's friends. I guess it's kind of a personality thing.
His expression showed an expression of concern, but I thought I could fix that.
"I'll take care of him. He's Alex's friend, after all." I shook my head.
I know about his relationship with Alex. Since he is my mate's friend, then I do have to take care of him.
"Jessica, you have to be careful." Isabella stood next to me and grabbed my sleeve.
This poor girl has finally found her home and I am so happy for her. I would have been satisfied if I could help her so much for once. So I just shook my head and remained determined to walk deeper into the cell.
Here lived a prisoner who did not look very old. His back was turned to me, his unkempt hair was not neat, and even a little pungent odor flowed from it. I didn't dare to frown and just put the lunch box in my hand on the floor.
"Do you think I would be moved for this bowl of soup?" The man said viciously. He turned his head to look at me with a fierce look in his eyes.
"Of course not. But it is necessary for me, as your friend's fiancée, to visit you."
But he clearly had no intention of picking up on me. He just wanted to ignore me.
I just had to put my food down and walk out slowly.
Outside the door, Isabella was still standing there. There has been so much going on lately that she is a little haggard from her busy schedule. But even so, I'd say she's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen.
"Has he changed anything?" She asked softly.
"No, it's still the way you guys said it would be." I shook my head.
"It could even be worse, but I don't know."
I know what that boy has been through. He lost his brother, and all of that is really the responsibility of the White Birch Pack.
But it is not the responsibility of any of the people he hurt. Because all of the people he hurt were also victims of the White Birch Pack.
