Chapter 50
Isabella's POV.
All the warriors were assigned their tasks.
"Isabella, what about us? We're warriors too, we can get on the field and fight too." Jessica looked to me, her eyes filled with the desire to be recognized.
Ignoring all objective reasons, I didn't want them in this thing, considering their level and this delicate relationship we had now. They have only had a short training, and if they go into battle there is a good chance they will hurt themselves.
That's the kind of situation no one wants to see, and it might even make our newly eased relationship worse.
I was a little unsure if I should answer her, so I just looked at her calmly. Of course she understood what I meant, so she smiled awkwardly.
"Got it, we'll go to the wizard's territory." She said with great regret.
"We'll keep the old people and children safe."
I didn't want to see her sad like this either, but I really didn't have any good ideas.
"You guys are in charge of assisting Jessica's group. Remember to make sure to keep the little ones safe no matter what." I looked to the warriors standing closest to them and tried my best not to notice their expressions.
These girls deserved a better future. As for the White Birch Pack fighters, they were not good people either, but at least they had nothing to do with this matter.
If what we do can make them change their minds, then it's not a bad thing.
Jessica looked at me like that, her eyes full of disappointment. I just couldn't face her anymore.
"I'll go out for some air." Alex was standing outside the door with a surprised look on his face, he was very surprised that I had included him in the group going to the wizard colony.
I think he must have heard what I just said. I had included his squad in the group that was escorting those old people and children.
"I don't understand, luna. i think i'm already a very qualified warrior, but why do i still ......"
"It's not your problem, or any of our problems for that matter." I took the door with me and gestured for him to follow me into the hallway to continue talking about it.
"You should go spend time with Jessica. you guys are more familiar with those at White Birch Pack and can drive them better than anyone else." I looked at him seriously.
Someone needed to lead those people, and there was no one better than the two of them.
"And if we don't end up guarding this territory, you can take them with you. Go back to the White Birch Pack's original territory. The houses there are still there."
"No, we must stay with you. It's our duty as warriors!"
Alex stood at the door. Jessica stepped out from behind him and looked at me with determination.
Oh, damn mate link! What was the point of me taking him away alone?
Jessica walked up to me and shook my hand warmly.
"You're a good luna, Isabella. i would give everything i have for you, even if it's my life. So don't you dare talk us out of it." Her voice was unmistakably sincere and even a little pleading.
Yes, of course I can trust them. But then who to find to lead those people to the wizard's dwelling? I couldn't think of anyone more suitable than the two of them.
"Don't worry, luna. i'll make sure you guys are well protected." Jessica waved her hand at me.
"I know you're worried about those White Birch Pack warriors, but the reality is that many of them don't feel that much different from their previous lives than they do now, at best ......" She seemed to think of something As if she had thought of something, she paused abruptly.
"They need to re-examine their relationship with MATE."
I know what the White Birch Pack did before. Those events they held under the moonlight were so annoying, it was like a real beast. But for the average warrior there, it's not really that much different where they live.
Not to mention that one of their original leaders is now with us, so leaving to become Rogue wasn't a very sensible decision. I appreciate those who are able to change their views on us as a Pack, and as for those who just insist on wanting to go find the alpha they once had, I'll just have to let them become Rogue to follow the One in their hearts.
"I know, but someone has to take the rest of them away. They always have to have one that understands them better." I shook my head. I likewise didn't feel any better about making such a decision.
"You can trust my father, he will take these people with him. In fact, he really wants to participate in this battle, but he is also too old, he can not go to war. But he will also have a way to take the people with him. You don't need to worry too much anymore." She grabbed my hand.
"I understand, Jessica. i just ......"
I thought about it and realized that I couldn't find a reason to reject this option. After all, if they wanted to come, then I couldn't refuse them.
"I was just a little too worried. But in that case, welcome to the camp that stays here."
I held out my hand to her, and she couldn't have smiled any better.
There were three or four girls who stayed behind with Jessica, and they were the stronger of those White Birch Pack women. Inspired by them, the other fighters worked even harder.
"I never expected this kind of result to happen." Elijah was clearly a bit surprised. Because he was an alpha, he was more used to getting up an hour earlier to come and fight me early.
But for two days in a row, he hadn't been the earliest one.
Now Jessica is huddled with me, I'm stepping on her tail but her canines are right on my head. It's hard to tell a concrete winner in this one.
When we saw him appear, we both rolled to our sides to put on our coats and transform back into our human forms.
"Good morning alpha." Jessica nodded at him in greeting.
"Is it just me, it doesn't seem like there are usually fighters training at this time? I thought I'd overslept." Elijah slapped his forehead.
"No, it doesn't look like you'll have the training ground to yourself today." I eased the atmosphere around me as much as I could. I didn't want to make either one of them nervous.
"But I think you should still be willing to watch us compete a little? We can't find each other's weaknesses anymore."
"Of course, with great pleasure. Let's see how the last few days of training have gone." Elijah nodded.
Jessica and I looked at each other and transformed into our wolf forms once more. But this time the female warriors around us helped us put on cloaks coated with special dyes. These dyes change color in case of being rushed, so they can help us summarize our injuries during training.
After all, in a real battle, you can't get hurt where you weren't rushed.
"Start!" Elijah took the flag and waved it in the air.
I lunged desperately toward her. Under my impact, she backed up and circled halfway around, but quickly recoiled. She slammed her entire side into me and her skull hit so hard I almost threw up straight away. This little girl was pushing too hard!
But she wasn't much better than me. The same impact sent her to the ground, and I caught all the points on top of the sheet of cloth she was wearing.
The cloak on both of us turned into a big chunk of red fabric and looked especially lousy.
"Well, this is it. In reality, you two are probably no longer in this world right now." Elijah looked at us both with his arms around us.
I switched my form to sit on the floor and gave Jessica a thumbs up. I really hadn't thought she could be this good.
"I'm sorry, I guess I'm still too ......" Jessica sighed sadly and slumped to the ground. Her whole cape was about to turn red on me.
"No, it's much better. jessica, your right side is a weak spot. So you need to protect it as well as you can." Elijah pointed to his rib cage. At the same time he looked over at me.
His gaze was full of appreciation and affirmation.
"It's not relatively weak here, but it can still go wrong when hit hard. isabella protected it better than you did."
It was indeed a successful teaching session, and the girls around me widened their eyes. They came up to me, and the scene even made me a little nervous.
"luna, can you teach us?"
"Sure." I stood up and showed them the way I was.
That was taught to me by my wolf Mia, and I don't know where he learned those ways. But James had told me once that it was a modified version of the wizard's fighting technique.
The girls were quick learners, and the male warriors who came along later to train with them appreciated the power of these techniques as well. They fell to the ground wailing, and then joined in the learning process.
By the time the sun was close to setting, finally everyone had lost their strength. We lay on the lawn, enjoying this rare moment of peace.
After all, the war would soon begin, and it would be almost impossible to be this relaxed then.
In my confusion I just felt a heat source appear next to me and I subconsciously leaned into him.
"We'll need a group to feign an attack. I don't know if any of you are willing to risk it." Elijah's voice came from above me. I opened my eyes and looked at his jaw, only to feel suddenly much more awake.
"Is it going to be dangerous?" I asked softly as I leaned into his arms.
If there was one person who had to cooperate with him at this time, then I think it could only be me. Those girls don't have the means to ask him that.
"Yes, very strong fighters are needed, but at the same time they have to be smart enough." Elijah lowered his head and looked at me.
So it was important to choose the best ones.
I supported myself to get up from his arms and met my eyes with Jessica who was sitting next to me.
Isn't she one of the best ones?
If she wants to go, I will definitely let her go.
