Chapter 43

Isabella's POV.
"Take those things to the empty grass over there, don't put them here." I said to the staff next to me.
As we approach the wedding date, I think I'm getting nervous.
This matter is not only a matter of our Green Creek Pack, but also a key to maintain the relationship between different Packs now. You know, the other nine elders and those Pack can watch it.
If it were my own wedding, I'm afraid I wouldn't be so nervous.
"You haven't slept in over 30 hours." Mia reminded inside my head. "At this rate I'm afraid you'll have a breakdown before the wedding even starts."
"I understand, but I can't sleep at all, I'm still confirming the flow of this wedding continuation."
This wedding is just too important.
"Okay. So you finally decided not to add the process of the male elders' speeches?"
It is this that is distressing.
"I'm still wondering if maybe he has some blood relatives or something ......" I frowned.
The reason why Alex was so fond of the brother who was knocked out by my punch was that he had no other relatives. But as a rule this scene is supposed to be his parents or alpha to address the stage.
And Elijah's presence will have other implications. I don't think those White Birch Pack folks have enough faith in him right now.
Besides, although I am willing to trust the White Birch Pack people from a rational point of view, emotionally I still think it is possible for them to do anything. After all, we just disbanded their Pack not too long ago.
So we have to act like we believe him and act like we're on guard against them, which is just too hard.
Besides, the Green Creek Pack is not all about people who believe in the White Birch Pack.
"Don't think about it so much, honey. Have confidence in the Green Creek Pack fighters that if there is any contingency, they are fully capable of handling it." Mia's tone sounded calmer.
I think he has a point that I should express full trust in the members of my Pack. And because of that, I have to strengthen their training.
"Because you have a mission to carry out." I answered them.
Not just because of this one wedding. It's more because of those elders.
They have been stripped of their titles as elders, but they still have many supporters. Sooner or later they will come back to fight for what they lost.
We have to be ready for this.
Oliver's POV.
The wizard elder named James was sitting next to my workbench, tinkering with my instruments.
If I didn't already know about this wizard's elder's relationship with luna, I would even suspect that he was here to cause trouble. Why else would he have stayed with us until now.
"It's not like that, because the matter of blood-sucking bats is related to us after all, so I have to investigate it."
Is he a mind reader?
"No, it's just the look on your face that makes me think you're thinking that.Beta, come on over here. I've come to some conclusions that I think you'll need to hear." He got up from his chair and gave me half a table.
Well, I guess I should be less prejudiced against wizards too. At least until his group arrived, I thought wizards were a hard bunch to get along with.
"Oh, but then that charge you made against him wouldn't hold up." He frowned.
"What?"
Will Liam be released back for this?
"Poisoned, I mean the one given to the girls. The result of his exile is not going to be changed." James' expression suddenly became serious.
"I'm going to say something next that might surprise you."
This really piqued my interest.
"That poison has absolutely nothing to do with him, I guarantee it with my position as an elder."
My God, this is amazing news! I felt my heart stop half a beat.
Although this does not change the outcome of his exile, I think it is necessary to inform Isabella about this matter in order not to be found in trouble in the future.
"Hey, wait a minute, I'm not done talking." James stopped me.
"I've heard before that you werewolves can all be more impulsive, but now it seems that opinion is completely correct."
"What?" I wasn't in the mood for this flirtation of his at all.
"The man who poisoned him must have been hurt himself. Find him as soon as possible, maybe he can still be saved." He suddenly sighed.
"The killer only has two months at most."
I pushed the door open violently and rushed toward Isabella's office.
She was drinking coffee, even as the plate in front of her was filled with chips dripping with chili sauce. The pungent smell almost pushed me right out of the door as soon as I entered.
"Oh what's wrong? Ah, it's you." She rubbed her eyes. It made her look even more vulnerable.
She looked even paler and could not have been more pathetic.
"I can't believe it. Weren't you sorting out those spells with James?"
"I am, but, Isabella!" she had huge black eyes on her face and I just kind of couldn't look away. Maybe my tone of voice was too heavy and she looked more like she was shocked this time.
"Are you in such a hurry to get here?" She looked at me in surprise, and only then did she look like she was fully awake. Her giant raven was looking at me as if to say, "You shouldn't interfere with her work."
"More than that, I think you should think about getting more sleep. How did you manage to toss yourself into this mess?" I pointed to my eye socket.
My God, she looks almost on the verge of being sick! I'm afraid if alpha saw her these days she'd be distraught too.
"It's not because of that wedding ...... Forget it, it's not important. What you have to say seems to be more important."
Well, things need to be taken care of one by one.
"I think we were wrong about Liam. That poison was definitely not from him. Because his life expectancy would have been shortened by the use of the forbidden technique, he couldn't afford the consequences of the poison." I took a deep breath.
If he had poisoned him, he wouldn't have been writhing and struggling like a live fish at all that day. It's just that he was trying to make us a little more angry, so he took all the blame.
And there is a good chance that this miscalculation will turn out to be a sharp sword thrust at us.
This time it was Isabella's turn to be surprised again.
"What, you mean he won't live long?"
But a smile soon crept onto her face. She should be happy, the biggest beneficiary of this matter is a poor girl like her.
"Yes. He summoned those blood-sucking bats. Those things really drain the life out of him." I answered her affirmatively.
Isabella's POV.
"This may be the first piece of good news we've heard today." Mia's voice was noticeably lighter.
I also feel lighter. In fact, I'm up to my limit these days myself.
If Elijah wasn't around, I'm afraid I'd be blamed by him. But his own situation now is probably not much better. He is dealing with the security work involved and is said to be without rest for several days.
I think we should apologize to each other the first time we see each other and why we have made ourselves so miserable.
"Knock, knock." There was a knock on the door.
I looked up with Oliver, and Alex stood in the doorway, his face red and barely able to speak.
"It's very serious, luna. i think you'd better go and listen to the talk of those of us here." He took a deep breath.
I suddenly had a bad feeling.
"I just heard them say that and I came running. If something unfortunate happens at the wedding, I think she might feel guilty for the rest of her life ......"
I thought about the state they were in when I first got here, and that's very likely indeed. After all, people don't know much about the White Birch Pack, and that's likely to create bias.
I didn't think those Pack members would tell me the truth, so I called for the crow. It nodded and flew violently toward the floor.
"If it's really what you say it is, then it's a problem." I looked at the back of the crow and chanted softly.
As someone who has been treated this way by them, I know all too well what can happen.
"I'm sorry luna, I shouldn't have ...... been there" Alex he was obviously thinking about all the things he had done to me in the past. But I think those are in the past.
One should look forward.
"It's not your fault, you don't need to apologize. If someone has to apologize, it should be the guys from White Birch Pack." I laughed and reassured him.
But soon I was laughing a little bit, and was even scared almost jumped up.
He bowed at me so hard that he almost had his head on his lap. I almost suspected that he would hurt himself with this folding-like action.
Immediately afterwards, he jerked to stand up straight once more. He still had a red face and shrugged his shoulders to look at me. It was as if the one who just exaggerated when the human body books was not him.
It's like a comical puppet on a string.
The scene made Mia scream inside my head, while Oliver stood back with an even more distorted expression.
"Do you think this is kind of, like, acrobatic for him?" Mia's voice sounded a little incoherent.
"That's amazing. How did you manage to hold back the laughter?"
"Because it's too surprising." I said back to her quickly. I got up and poured him a cup of coffee and handed it to him so he could sit on the couch and relax.
Soon the crow flew back. It opened its mouth and coughed a few times and began to speak in a tone of voice that was completely new to me.
"All this now is because of them! If it wasn't for them, our Pack would be happy right now! They are also the ones who hurt our luna into that state!"
Immediately after it switched to a more shrill tone.
"Who knows what that woman will do, isn't that Alex and alpha getting pretty close lately!"
The crow tried to go on, but I waved my hand for it to stop. I didn't need it to mimic any more words. By this point I was pretty much able to confirm what was going on.
I knocked it on the head, signaling that it could rest.
"You see, that's how ...... they thought there was a traitor in the White Birch Pack." Alex's voice sounded very helpless. "But Jessica and I can confirm that nothing really happened. At the very least the White Birch Pack members who could talk to her were brave enough to put their lives on the line."
The implication of that statement is that there are still people who don't even want to communicate with her. But that's out of her control. I learned this the hard way when I was at White Birch Pack.
Jessica was also a girl after all. In that Pack, there weren't many warriors who could follow her orders in the first place.
"But no amount of explaining is going to help, so I've come to seek your help." Alex looked at me with some desperation.
