Chapter 24

Isabella's POV.
"Go for it, little witch. If you don't fully recover, then it's good to be aggressive with your treatment. As your clan, we won't allow you to risk it." Some elders taunted.
I frowned.
I remembered that I had seen the portraits of these people. They were no other than my father's uncles.
If I don't come, then all those relics of my father will be inherited by them. So it's no wonder that they have looked strange since I appeared here.
I took a deep breath and continued to write on the parchment.
I know all the people who appeared on this at the beginning. Even though they are bad memories, they are firmly locked in my mind.
But the back of ......
I looked at the man in the picture. I only knew him as a werewolf, but I didn't know who he really was anymore. But his face looked so cunning, and that made me feel uneasy.
I think he has already done many bad things to me before. At the very least, that's what my subconscious mind is telling me.
So I wrote several words indicating similar meanings according to such an impression.
"These are some I recognize. They're members of the Green Creek Pack. It looks like you are indeed one of them." James walked up to me. He looked at the list in front of me and sighed with surprise.
"But it looks like you've had a lot of experience ......"
I don't know why, but I suddenly felt a little embarrassed. I hoped beyond hope that he would not continue to read.
It is a good thing that he only read this far, and then turned back to the group of elders.
"She really lived in the Pack? And became Luna? That's amazing."
"It's not like this has only happened once ...... although the one before it didn't seem to go too well."
They seemed surprised that I was able to live in the Pack and came together to discuss it intensely.
Those elders used some kind of magic. I couldn't hear what they said next, but I knew it must not be anything good.
Immediately afterwards, they looked at Elijah in unison.
The moment had finally arrived. I watched them nervously. I was very worried and I didn't want any unpleasant situation between these two groups.
"Is there anything I can do?" Elijah looked calmly back at the men.
Although he seemed to be smiling, he wasn't in that calm mood. He was getting angry at the way these people were treating me.
"Don't worry, they won't do anything to us. I figured out a way." I reassured him in the mate link. "Witches have weaknesses, that's why they're afraid of blood-sucking bats like that."
"I think you're on to something. They are indeed, not as confident as they seem." Elijah added.
We are werewolves and are naturally better at sensing the emotions of others.
"What about him? It's not appropriate to either keep him here or get rid of him in this situation."
"But until then you need to know that he is a werewolf." The other elder looked at Elijah with some trepidation.
"Werewolves are always not on the same side as us. Your abilities are indeed powerful, but it's hard to say what you'll ultimately bring to the table."
The relationship between werewolves and witches is usually not particularly bad, but it can only be considered as seeing without fighting. I hadn't expected them to fully accept us both.
"Stay on here, but don't disrupt our normal life."
I knew that this was a way for them to go soft.
Soon the meeting came to an end. Those elders came together, like a quarrel to try to justify this for themselves, and even more so, did not want to look at me at all.
So I just took Elijah with me and left their house.
"So what are you going to do?" Elijah asked me in the companion link.
"Nothing good can come of it." I controlled my uneasy emotions as best I could.
"For the time being, they won't let us go, we can't leave."
I know that it is impossible to lie about these things. Although it seemed like he was helping me, that young elder was essentially terribly fair.
But it is also because of his lack of selfishness that he is the most popular elder among the young children in this tribe of witches.
Of course, he himself looks like nothing more than a child.
"According to the schedule, you're supposed to go to the doctor this afternoon to make an evaluation. I'll be checking out the book. I'm wondering if there's any way I can get back a little earlier." I looked over at Elijah.
He seemed to do a great deal of mental struggle and finally nodded his head. I turned around and walked towards the library.
"Let's talk. That werewolf is your boyfriend?" James placed a rather rare herbal book in front of me.
"It's my mate," I said, taking the book and looking at him calmly.
This topic makes me feel uncomfortable. Because the word mate has other meanings for a witch. I was worried that he was some kind of hothead who wanted to introduce me to whichever wizard.
"Not the wizard kind of friend, a family member and lover who supports each other through life." I added.
"Oh." James sat down just as calmly. I couldn't see the expression on his face at all.
"So your love was witnessed by the moon goddess, how nice."
I couldn't figure out what he meant by that, so I just tilted my head and looked at him like that. He seemed to know what I was thinking, so he gave a very meaningful laugh.
"But there's something I think I need to tell you."
He waved his hand. Then a piece of paper appeared on the table.
That piece of paper was filled with all kinds of information about my so-called quiz this time.
I know that this grade is certainly not enough to get me out of here.
Elijah's POV.
As a temporary member here, I was assigned tasks along with the other outsiders. Coupled with the healing process I was supposed to have, it was late afternoon by the time I was done.
"I wonder how Isabella's day went. That little elder looks like he took a big bite of salt." Wolf spat in my head.
"I don't think she's going to have a very good time this half day."
"Yeah, so I wanted to go back as soon as possible and talk to her about what I should do. I passed my quiz today instead, and I can leave anytime." I answered it.
Back on my territory, I thought at least she would be a little more comfortable. But the distance between Green Creek Pack and the witch tribe is really too long to be exposed to vampire bats like this, and I think it's also really dangerous.
So I think that she should at least make a decision with me on this matter.
"Good thinking." Wolf reminded within my mind. "It's very fair for our Luna."
"I know, I know ......," I said as I walked towards my place with Isabella. Intuition told me that this whole thing wasn't going to be too easy.
To my surprise, the elder who looked particularly abnormal was guarding the place.
I knew him as James, and he used to go to the Green Creek Pack, only he was a little smaller then than he is now. Again, he blew us all away at that time with his level of play.
"She's off learning a new spell, which usually takes a few hours." He waved a hand at me.
"In the meantime, would you like to have a drink with me?"
I glanced inside the house and I really didn't see Isabella.
"Good." I suddenly felt he might have something to say to me.
"It's not much, I just wanted to talk to you about what Isabella was like when she lost her memory." He mouthed at me.
I don't think I have any reason to reject him.
Soon, the two of us arrived in a clearing with our beers. He had prepared a grill where we would have some grilled food. There were a lot of kids who wanted to come along, but he turned them all back.
"I'm kind of curious about that, too." I asked him to continue what he had just said.
"You said Isabella, what exactly happened to her before?"
"I think she was miserable, but even then, she wasn't mean at all." He looked at the table in front of him and tried to remember.
She was forced to train with some fairly young witches. Those kids thought she was too old and a stranger and used to try to tease her in every way possible.
But Isabella, my Isabella, she was alert enough.
"She worked really hard and studied almost to the last minute. It's hard to say whether she knows a little more or whether the other witches know a little more." He looked at me again. "But even so, it's hard to say that the old guys will like her just fine."
"I didn't keep her safe." I sighed.
I don't want to run away from this matter because it was really my mistake. Until now, I have been thinking about how I should make up for it.
"If you really are, as you say, her mate ...... then you have indeed been remiss." He took another sip of his wine.
"Of course I don't mean that she should stay here or anything, but in any case I think that I should tell you this anyway. After all, I kinda want her to stay."
"You should ask her about these things, not me."
I am not going to make the decision for her.
"But you can't stay, can you? If you don't stay, I'm sure she won't either." He scowled at me.
I knew he was right. But I had my own responsibilities, but I didn't want to speak to this elder who just seemed so strange.
The good thing is that he himself did not feel embarrassed at all and just let out another low laugh.
"In addition to that, there's something else I want to tell you."
I looked up at him, unease hanging over me like a thin veil. I was afraid he would say something about Isabella, something bad.
"The quiz just now showed that her abilities have not been fully restored, and there are still some gaps in her memory." James held out to me the piece of paper that Isabella had just written on.
I saw that the backward markers were almost all blank and even had distorted drawings.
Some of these people I don't know either. But what I can say for sure is that at the very least, she doesn't know Liam now.
That's not good. Because White Birch Pack's life is a big part of her life. This means that an important piece of her life is still missing right now.
