Chapter 22
Elijah's POV.
This Isabella even the curvature of the mouth is the same as I remember.
"Don't worry, I won't." I didn't know what to say, just scratching my head over this awkward conversation.
Then we both reverted to silence.
Right now we are doing something that is more like patrolling than taking a break. The scenery around here is much better than around pack, but more than that I care about the people in front of me.
Her movement habits are really identical to Isabella's.
Her clothes were also similar to when she was Luna in my pack. It made me get caught up in memories. I just looked at her like that. And she was jumping lightly next to me, like a deft butterfly.
"If I thought there was an 80% chance he was Isabella before, it would be 95% now. See her footwork? It's exactly the same as Isabella's before. These wizards don't dance like that." Mason sputtered in my head.
"You should have noticed it when you were playing with them, they were moving that slow, and if you don't let up there's no way ......"
About this I also know. Wizards learn all sorcery rather than the so-called fighting, their movements will just be slightly clumsy.
"What does it feel like to have a wolf talking in your head?" Isabella squatted on a low tree branch and looked over at me. "I felt like you just froze there, like you were talking to something."
"It's like someone is talking to you, but his voice is coming from inside your head." I replied patiently, pointing to my head again.
"But you just guessed it right, I was indeed talking to the wolf. He thinks you move very deftly."
"It's not because of the conversation with the wolf that she looks frozen, it's because of her." Mason's tone continued to be strange.
"Thank him for me."
She answered and jumped down from the tree branch.
"I occasionally hear my name being called, and at first I thought it was a hallucination, but then I thought maybe it should be my previous relatives calling me ...... Wait a minute, there's a change in the landmarks here."
I was about to take a step forward, but she stopped me. It was then that I noticed that the view in front of us had changed quite a bit.
If just now we were still weaving through a field of flowers, we were now next to a cliff.
The place was almost full of corpses, and for some reason the air still smelled like decay, with huge vultures flying in the sky.
All these kinds of things show that this neighborhood is a place without any life, not at all like a grassland for the so-called raised critters.
There is not even a sun here for people to discern their direction. This is indeed a dead end.
My mind raced, and then I looked at my compass. The needle on it was dancing.
It's not just the weather, but even the magnetic field around here is off, so it took us this long to realize that things had changed. And there's no way to rely on these devices to discern direction now.
"Find a cave." She turned and ran toward a rock wall.
"Tomorrow should be sunny, let's get through tonight first!"
I was about to follow, but my wolf's unique instincts called out to me. I didn't have time to think about it, so I rushed forward and tackled her to the ground.
An ebony figure flew by. It was a huge eagle. It originally wanted to attack again, but saw the knife in my hand only to fly away. As a flying animal, it could not afford to take any risks.
"Wow. ......"
I looked toward my hand. Just a little closer, we both had to roll off the cliff together.
"It's getting close to night, and we're sure we'll see it again." Her dulcet voice came from beneath me. From my angle, I could clearly see the tips of her ears, which were red like apples.
I tugged her up and kept going. But just as suddenly, the sky went completely dark. A scary creature, bigger than just now, opened its wings and swooped down on us.
"Take this!" Isabella drew a long knife from somewhere and threw it to me.
"Go stab it in the gut, but don't get bitten by it. It's hard to heal the wound!"
I rushed to the sky and looked. This time, it was a giant blood-sucking bat!
At this moment, I couldn't think whether turning into a wolf would scare her or not. All I knew was that if we didn't turn into wolves, we would both probably die here today.
"Roar!"
The blood boiled. I turned into a wolf and lunged toward the neck of the blood-sucking bat.
I tore at it hard and froze, completely ripping its neck apart. But it was that strong, still flying crookedly in the sky.
"Whoosh!" A dagger flew in and directly pierced its wing in half.
This time, it could not fly anymore.
I fell to the ground with its body, triggering a scream from Isabella.
She rushed up to me and checked me for wounds. I saw that she had a dagger made of bone in her hand.
"My aunt said it's a bit of a shame that I don't learn fighting skills with all these muscles." She looked at my expression and quickly explained.
"This is the bone of a cow."
I saw a piece of skin peeking out of her torn sleeve. There was a small birthmark on it that I was incredibly familiar with.
When so many coincidences come together, I don't think it's just my luck alone.
"Wait a minute, this scene seems a little familiar to me." She said while her eyes widened and placed her hand on my chest.
Her face was in great pain, but I knew I couldn't help her, much less back down.
Her eyes slowly turned into the one I knew so well, the one that belonged only to my Isabella, that look.
"You're the Alpha of the Green Creek Pack, right? Your beta is an Oliver that used to go undercover for White Birch Pack. I'm White Birch Pack's ......"
Isabella's POV:
When I saw Elijah was wounded, I suddenly felt that the original blurred images in my head seemed to be wiped clear by something.
I saw again in the past the two of us meeting in the cave, and again together in the middle of the trip life. And until later that happened again, it was like a movie replaying in my head.
I finally remembered who I was. I am not just a new wizard, I am a wolf warrior. I am a Luna, I have my own pack, and even more, I have an Alpha who loves me.
And those feelings I had for Elijah do explain it. I don't have to feel guilty for falling in love with him, because he was already mine.
"Yes, you're right about everything. My Isabella, my Luna, welcome back." He wrapped his arms around me as if he were holding some kind of precious china, moving with unmistakable gentleness. I felt a wetness on my shoulders, and I thought he was crying silently.
And how could I be calm. I finally found what I love, and I can't stop my eyes from getting sore.
"So does that put an end to your heartache?" I laughed and put my arm around his shoulders.
"I'm really worried that this will be a dream and I'll wake up to find you've suddenly disappeared ......" he sighed softly.
"No, I'm real. And our baby, it's real too ...... it really likes you ......"
I kissed him wildly on the cheek. Then I helped him take off his jacket. He clasped my waist, and the heat of his hands almost burned through me.
"Let's go to the cave, I'm going to check you out properly, on all levels." I put my hand on his.
It had been too long since we had touched, and the feeling made me feel crazy with joy. We both reveled in this long-lost joy and didn't look back until the sun came up again.
I lay on my clothes, physically exhausted but very happy.
"Then maybe we can go back to the pack, all of us miss you." Elijah grabbed my hand.
"No, I can't go back just yet. There are some things I still need to work out. It will be a lot of work for me to do up front, but I can do it well enough now." I shook my head.
I couldn't bear to disappoint him, so I quickly added.
"You'll help me, won't you?"
Before I fully gained my previous memories, I really didn't know how to deal with those people in the witch tribe who despised me. But now I know.
I don't just need to do better than them, but I need to outright scare the crap out of them at some point.
"The blood-sucking bats were not released by them, which means that someone else did this. We need to get him out. He's putting us all in danger." I explained to him.
But who else could it be? My mind was out of control, remembering the Alpha that White Birch Pack was still running away from.
Could it really be him? I can't help but worry. If it is him, then I am afraid that this matter will not be as simple as we think in the future.
Elijah's POV.
I felt her uneasiness from among the partner links.
This was the first time that my companion link, which had been silent for a long time, made a sound. The realization itself made me elated, but then the feeling was drowned out by anxiety.
I want to help her, I can't watch her like this. She is my treasure.
"First of all, I think there is one thing I need to tell you. The pair of bones that we buried at that time were indeed my parents'. My father was the brother of the leader of this wizard tribe, and that is how I am able to live here." She straightened her long hair. Her forlorn expression looked heartbreaking to me.
"But they think I'm here for those so-called inheritances. I'm worried that my aunt will be implicated."
I know how important her aunt is to him. All of these months were taken care of by her aunt, and I knew I should do my part in this matter.
"We have to make those people see you and your aunt squarely." I took her hand in mine.
"It's like being at Green Creek Pack."
