Chapter 105
A/N: Happy Thankful day!
Samira
The blade almost held a dull hum to it in the King’s hands, and even one sworn to him took his time to gather his words. All the while, Tyson stood there, confidently resting his blade on his shoulder now. But I could tell his nearly glowing glare was too much for the assassin. Now that it was 100% clear that he would die, he was afraid.
“I am one of the original council. I…. I **saw** what the Realm King did to this world, so I *get* it. I really do…, but King Ashital is the Son of the Pale Lady’s Herald. He, despite his flaws, he was noble. Every step his flaming paws took was *for* our people. I see that nobility in King Tyson. He’s young, and I can’t lie about it, I am still unsure…. I see a young photocopy of the Horned One near that drain, stomach growling for meat, while another sits at my right, farther up the table… So *I get it.* But killing pups? Did anyone ever stop to think about the retaliation for that? I’m pretty sure if Thadellious here managed to pull that shit off, this world would be only lava… and it would have been my fault.” Jang admitted.
“I have to also admit, even I was apprehensive in the beginning.” Said Ronitus, the Second Seat. “I remember asking his majesty if he trusted the Night Court’s vows, and he told me to trust the goddess…. Unlike you lot, I did. I can still close my eyes and see what Gulteer, the True Witch King did to my people… For you younger generation who do not know… He killed my whole pack, laughing as he did so, leaving two survivors. Yet a dark witch claimed by him sits at my shoulder with my son, and we share grandchildren through full blood.” He laughed a bit. “I allowed the goddess to heal this world. I didn’t get in the way, even when my instincts literally screamed to.”
“And when our new king rises as a Demon General directly under the Horned One, how long before a great crack opens in the earth, led by the Horned Wolves?” asked Thadellios. “How do you know this is not some grand trick?”
“I’ve had all my abilities, with my blood and bone remade rival Uriel. I was *already* strong enough to level a country before that. I was already strong enough to sink islands when I was 19. If I wanted to do so, I could have. That is why I am trusted to be up here.” Said Tyson.
“So, my question still stands, when?” Asked the assassin. “I know you high and mighty wolves sit up there, and think this the raving of a mad man, but I am *right.* Calamity will befall all who hold Horned leaders!”
“And if it does, it would be for a reason.” Said Oliver. “His majesty swore in blood to the wolves first….. The Horned One would not make his grandson a liar.”
“Nor would a man with the title of the Holy One destroy for no reason.” I added.
“Thank you, my most lovely.” Said Tyson with a light smile. I remained firm, and as stern looking as I could…. I doubt it was convincing. “And funny you say that Oliver, seeing as how this world will soon be a Sanctuary by the Realm King’s order.” Said Tyson. “This world is Lia’s body. To harm it is to harm her…. And to harm her is to harm the very goddess you’re praying to.”
“My lord, surely you can-” Thadellious was cut off by my mate. Jang rang his bell, but the King spoke first.
“You have no need to speak Jang. I know your heart.” Said Tyson.
“I have partaken of your blood master, that I cannot betray you, but I still wish to speak my piece. It is important…. It is a warning to those whose hearts may conspire now after they see what you’re about to do to that wolf….. death is a courtesy.”
“Then speak.” Said Tyson.
Shakira yanked Thadellious by the hair, to force him to look up at Jang. Tyson waved his hand, motioning her to ease up.
Jang cleared his throat. “Look at this world Thad, my former Shadow Warrior… Look how it spins in peace…. And *prosperity.* The master may be of a Darkness… but he swore his blood to this kingdom. It suffers nor wants for not…. I dare say I feel his rule is no different from King Ashital, except we are not allowed to do as we please behind his back…. I am not that person anymore.”
“You say that because he put a collar around your neck.” Hissed That.
“No. Even when I was bound, I’d already grown to feel that way.” Said Jang. “And his mate is an unturned unicorn. If that is not proof that his majesty is not of ill intention, there is nothing that can convince you. For my fellow council…. I will not scheme with you. I will sit in this chair the weight of a dog, and watch you be beheaded with Thad soon enough.”
“Do not speak so little of yourself Jang.” Said John.
“I for one trust you now.” Said Ronitus, Tyson’s Second.
“I do as well.” Said Isabelle, his Third.
“I third that.” Said Lord Wisp, Tyson’s Fourth.
“You intend to eat him, right?” Asked Oliver, the Fifth seat. “Suck ‘em dry my lord.”
“Oliver!” yelled his mate beside him, and there were chuckles.
“What?! His majesty’s hungry! That guy tried to kill him in his crib! I say Rip His Ass Apart!” Oliver beamed. “Makes my dead heart beat.”
“I won’t lie and say ‘sending you to Xaxas is a solemn thing’…. Let’s get on with it then. Bring him here.” Said Tyson.
The look on his face…. It was one I had not seen before. Tyson looked down on the man as he was dragged by his kicking legs to my husband… How cold those eyes were…. How the flame between his horn danced in excitement, but his face was still.
“I knew you were going to kill me! I have secrets! If you-”
“You tried to kill pups in their cribs, and babes in their mother’s womb, but you scream for the life you would have denied the innocent.” Said Tyson. “Absolutely Deplorable. On my honor, as King. You are sentenced to die by my blade.”
And Tyson beheaded him.
I have second sight… I would have seen if he drank his essence, but no… Tyson only killed him. With a teleport, about half the councilman screamed. He stood next to me, and ate the meat I requested with his bare hand. His sword was put away when he teleported.
That ability is quite rare. I know he did that to show off, and send a message that you can’t escape him.
“The rest of you can go have lunch and come back in an hour. I want a second helping.” He growled, biting through the bone.
All the lower council under Seven left the table. Those were the men and women I didn’t trust… It won’t be all of them… but at least one right now is thinking of my foal in a negative light.
“Samira, I will protect you.” Said Tyson.
“I know, but I still hate this.” I mumbled.
“Extra measures are already in place.” he pressed his forehead to mine. He had to bend down, and use the table as a bit of something to hold on to do so. “This power is for you, my love. Every ounce of it. Please… You have not eaten anything yourself.”
When did that salad get there?
Now it was my stomach that growled. Kale, spinach, tomatoes, tofu dates, homemade vinaigrette dressing, pita bread, and arugula were piled high on my plate. They even made me a lemongrass smoothie with apples…
*How do I know it isn’t poison?*
I know Clemontine wouldn’t be the one to do it… but still…. Someone might.
I didn’t know I was this hungry… yet I could not eat it. The thought of accidentally harming my baby made my appetite go away.
Tyson took my fork, and took a bite of tofu and wretched so violently, I nearly threw the plate on the floor! “AWE EW!!! THE **FUCK!** BLEH!!!!” he screamed. “It’s not poison but FUCK if it doesn’t taste like it!”
“Oh, don’t be so dramatic.” complained Isabelle. “Your food’s fine Samira.”
“All you had to do was ask…..” Said Bryson, cringing at Tyson’s reaction. “Why’d you eat grass son?”
I’d correct him and say ‘it’s soy beans’ but I’m sure they don’t care about the difference.
