Chapter 76
                    Samira
Lunar magic becomes harder or easier depending on the Moon…. Right now, it was nearly full, so everything was easy.
With a wave of my hand, I studied the complex nature of this magic. It’s recycled solar magic… The refraction of the moon makes it become something completely different. This magic is all about change… and duality.
It also helps me understand the nature of my people, of all shifters honestly, not just werewolves.
“You do well.” Said Lord Asanguis.
“Good evening sir.” I said respectfully, but he shook his head.
“You are one of the very few who may call me ‘uncle’, little one.” He said cross legged across from me. “I have a small gift for you.”
“Really?” I asked.
“You are the first unicorn blessed with mother’s magic, so, I think it fair you get this.” A sterling silver spellbook was put in my lap…. A beautiful fairy tale wolf was on the cover. It was thin and long legged like a deer, but had great horned owl feathers by the carved details.
“Who’s this?” I asked opening it.
I couldn’t read it.
“Oh, this is mother’s personal spellbook. The doodle on the front was something she did before mother asked me to watch it.” He said sheepishly, seeing that I couldn’t make out a single word. “Hand it back a second.”
“Alright.”
“I forgot, *Tyson* is the one who can read Lesser Godspeach, not you.” He chuckled. He blew on it, and passed it back.
“It’s in English.” I mumbled.
“Would you like it in Unicorn?” He asked.
“No, but I’ll be sure to keep this safe….. Not many people know Lunar Magic, and I’m sure she wants her secrets safe.”
“Aye, High Priestess of the Moon.”
“….What?”
Oh I heard him, but that wasn’t an honor meant for me!
“How is it not?” he asked with the calm, cool voice Death carries. His voice isn’t quite a whisper, but it is low and creeping… like you know he has come to collect you, rather than converse. “How’d you know I came to take you too?”
“I… I just did. I didn’t know I was clairvoyant.” I mumbled.
Also, his wording was *awful*, but I also knew he meant to send me to the Moon Goddess.
“True, but I still wish to know why you don’t think you’re worthy.” He said putting a hand on my shoulder.
“I…I’m not the *real* Wolf Queen.” I mumbled. “I’m not even a wolf…. shouldn’t her priestess be a shifter she made…..”
“Last I checked, Tyson defeated Ashital, and there aren’t any prerequisites for priesthood other than a god’s blessing….” Asanguis said as blue magic surrounded us, and I was then surrounded by silver grass.
Everything was sterling silver, textured as if it were whatever it imitated. The wood looked so detailed, that for a second I thought that was normal bark. Oxidation made the shading. All the grooves and lines, all the scents matched Urth…. Leaves were veined as if they were actually photosynthesizing…. The flowers and the petals on them carried a light floral scent, devoid of any metallic odor.
“Yay! You’re Here!” The Moon Goddess beamed.
There was cake.
***Shit***
I bowed. “I’m your Priestess?” I asked.
“The Wolf Queen is the Priestess of the Moon Goddess.” Said Queen Gweneth. “I formally renounced my title when I saw you and my grandson on TV.” She hugged me.
….So I can assume that all Hell and Lunia know what my mate’s coc-
“You cannot mend, as that is something only I was blessed with, but you Tend the Fountain. Pet his head three times, and now you can summon the Lady. Use it to bless our bloodline, our people, and to aid you in mending hearts, since you cannot do it yourself.”
“Thank you Grandma, I mean-”
A good portion of the wolves chuckled.
“You’re my pup too.” She petted my hair gently. “I convinced the mistress to let me make the party favors, since this is mortal’s work.” She whispered in my ear.
\-----Tyson-----
“Anything else?” Asked Xaxas, on the Zoomie call with we other kings.
“I wish to speak with you in private about an additional affair… However, the intruders are more important. You said the realm hoppers are in Africa? What country?” I asked.
I wanted to protect my people… this world… They keep coming like ants because their scouts aren’t returning…. While they delt with the few here, I was going to infiltrate their headquarters.
“The Numibia Desert. They found the First Beast’s Collar.” Said Xaxas. “The other two left with The Amulet of Arviel, an artifact worn by the Holy Seat. It doesn’t do anything other than bless the bearer with long life and health, oh and fertility, but it’s the Point.” He growled. “The gods of that world knew, and were warned. They keep sending mortals here because this place was a major battleground.”
I didn’t say anything, since I don’t know if the new kings knew… but during the beginning of the Realm King’s reign, all the gods became involved with this world…
Something sharp enough to cut Xaxas was found…
And used…
And it Worked.
His look told me that he knew that too…
That world is toast.
“I shall fetch the collar.” Said King Rau. “As the Champion of Bahst, I must.”
“Take Kenriel.” I said firmly; my right as Xaxas’s Second. “Eskaal and Grahkes can come with me.”
“I *like* that fire.” Said Xaxas. “It makes me feel like I actually have help.”
“I try my best.” I bowed my head, and he waved his hand so I could rise. Uncle or not, he is still the Realm King, and respect in places like this must be done.
“Am I permitted to destabilize their world?” Asked Eskaal.
“They ignored my final warning. Make it slow.” Said my mate casually, but Harmony looked a little pissed.
“Don’t you dare.” She said with a frown. “There’s no reason for all those people to suffer for no reason.”
“Then the master’s wrath will be swift. Grahkes, you get to feed.”
“Really?!” Grahkes asked like a child given permission to stay up late.
“So long as I can unleash my pet as intended. They will die so fast my lady, that they will not have time to suffer.” Eskaal bowed.
“I only trust you because Tyson’s going with you.” She said relenting.
“You may feast until you are full.” Eskaal bowed with a wicked smile.
It is not often ones so old get to unleash their true nature.
“I’ll go sharpen my teeth!” Grahkes ran off like a toddler. He likes to cut the tips of his fangs so that the venom flows out faster….
His acidic poison can melt through *any* substance on command, since he makes about 4 different kinds, at different levels of torture.
Beast Elves are just elves with animalistic features… They were made by both the Lord of Beasts, and the Lady of Beauty. Those two gods are now married, but during the war they made Beast Elves sort of in secret.
“Then this meeting is over. I expect that planet to be a silent ball of dirt in two hours.”
As soon as the feed was cut, Eskaal bowed before me with his pet at his side. Grhakes holds a human shape since he is a giant snake shifter, however, Eskaal made him basically a talking dog. He’s a *snake* after all… too cunning and something like that would wonder why it had to follow orders from a mortal.
…I knew I should have asked…. But I wondered what Eskaal was thinking. He was getting the portal ready, weaving intricate magic whereas I could have us halfway there.
/I-bet-he’s-wondering-why-we’re-doing-this-my-way-without-asking.{3degrees to the left.} I-don’t-feel-like-vomiting- from-a-fuck(language)ing-greenhorn-oh? ***I’m being observed*** /You’re reading my mind again?/ This was *incredibly fast.* /I’m not sorry this time./
I earned that migraine…. His thoughts were so fast I could hear a pop in my ears. I had to get a rag…. Fuck *that* hurt.
“It’s passive.” I half-lied.
“I can tell half truths before they’re spoken…  Little Master, you are not like your brother, but I will warn you that your pride is too high….. I do not wish to see you fall.” He warned…
That warning was as if he knew something, however when it comes to the future, it’s best not to speak it… and for his death glare in my eyes, he was hiding a Very unfortunate fate.
“I know. Thank you for the lesson.” I bowed my head. “I bet you expected me to be upset, yet it was I who looked instead of asked.”
“Yes, and I’m glad my prediction was wrong. My magic is refined over \[Redacted\], aging myself, traveling \[redacted\] so that I can \[redacted\] whenever I’m needed.” He grinned that he didn’t let his secrets slip… and honestly, I didn’t want to look.
I learned a lesson not to underestimate someone because they’re mortal, and just because they lack divine blood does not mean that I am above them.
Also… I know that was probably a trap. Next time I pry, he’s probably going to make an example out of me.
