Chapter 78

Samira
Tyson was gone a few hours with Eskaal, but I was busy myself. I was given responsibilities as Lulliba’s high priestess….
I made sure the Queen’s Quarters were spotless, and that any who had a regular drink at the fountain, or whatnot came at their regular schedule… but Jang…
I knew he needed a session early, since he’d been so quiet. He doesn’t like to ask, but … a ‘mother’ knows when something is wrong. That connection happened because for a time I Was Jang… I lived his life…
I could only watch…. But Goddess I *don’t* want to see more messed up stuff from his memories….
Jang was the one I didn’t … put *off*, but I didn’t *want* to heal him… Gods he was so damaged… And experiencing it was still just as jarring…
Queen Gwen is strong….Lady Moon she’s so much stronger than I could ever be.
She used to do this in addition to healing towns worth of people at a time… entire packs. Not only did she do this without the fountain’s aid, but she did this seeing every experience…. And somehow kept her sense of self and her identity.
We both sat at the base of the fountain, and we sat across from each other.
“I’m sorry…. I try to think of happier times…” Said Jang somberly.
“Then if that’s what helps you through this, the goddess provides.” I said offering a small blessing once we began.
They do nothing for him….. He’s so cursed I can see it slide off…
Wait... This memory was different.
I was Jang again, looking out the window of my deserted pack… I made coffee… I watched the news.
My wolf said nothing to me, not even being active today.
There is no point since he is worm eaten…. Oh right… today was the first time I felt the crawling under my skin…
It burns being eaten…
It stings. The bites are sharp, like being pricked by a cactus…. Then the chewing lingers…
“Hey look! Chili!” Said a Rogue.
Not again.
I growled, getting in my car, and roaring my most bone shattering snarl.
“Begone!” I shouted.
Not again…
To accept anyone, even for a *second* is their Doom…
I don’t want that to happen to-
Their little boy popped….
He had to look me in the damn eyes.
I shed tears of blood for that boy… another death that is *my* fault.
“You Enter GhostMoon! Gather your dead and Begone!” I shouted as the father took his son, and his popped too…
Then his mate.
I was alone to bury them…. Their souls looked pretty pissed, but I tried to warn them… My wolf is so desperate…
I am so desperate… I’m so tired…
He has made it so that I am unable to stop my suffering… If I don’t drink, I linger… If I don’t eat, I still remain the same weight… He torments me… Even medication nor alcohol work…
But I deserve it.
I challenged a god and lost. This is what happens in mythology… those stories are warnings….
Do not anger them.
Do not cheat them.
Do not gain their attention…. Not like this.
I wondered how long I had to live in such a horrid state…
I buried the bodies, and the souls of the family passed on… I went to bed, not bothering to shower.
It didn’t matter. Nothing does when you’re cursed like *this.*
-----Tyson-----
Meat.
Done.
Potatoes.
Done.
More Meat!
I know I *terrified* the mortals.
Bird Meat.
The Best Meat besides elk.
Straight through the bone… Bird bones are so sharp and pokey, but this meat was so fucking good.
I felt like I was going to get in trouble this tasted so good… Mom never let me eat bird bones, because they were too much for us when we were little. That and they are brittle. They stay sharp, but I made sure to chew.
Fuck I’d spare a life for this shit.
“Mmm.” I growled like a shifter, and I was also thankful that at this point, Eskaal put up an illusion…
That was pretty much the only thought up there….
“This is how humans eat??!!!” I asked. “Oh my Gods There’s Boneless.”
This should be the first meat Samira tries!
“…yeah…” they more or less said.
Even Grahkes behaved...
Up until this point, I’d Never had fast food of any kind. I was raised on the wild diet, a special diet for royal bloods since human food is Supposed to turn our stomachs, one of the few things we inherited from father and Grendal.
*Samira was not in real danger, but I recognized that uncanny feeling.*
“I need to go. Samira tends Jang.” I said about to leave, but Eskaal stopped me.
“You should do something about Jang before he’s consumed. I’d say only 28% of him is left. You should probably go save them.”
“Thank you for the advice… and the lesson.” A coin was tossed straight into my pocket before I teleported. It was one of the large Harmony ones….
I’m currency too. Evey time a new child is born, their adult likeness is stamped in hell and circulated. Unless it’s a fancy commemorative coin, they’re usually the same size and worth $1 Below, but to be fair, if you have 5, you can get pretty much what you want.
“Don’t forget your cut.”
I returned from JFC with the spell and food in hand, landing in the Queen’s Quarters. Samira and Jang were passed out while his soul was being mended enough for him to function….
I put a blanket on each of them, and laid them on the pillows grammy used to keep around.
As much as I wanted to, this is magic that cannot be interrupted.
When I was little I just assumed it was because she liked the more casual, comfortable style, but now that I rule I know. She used to mend until she passed out.
Grandma traveled the world, mending until her eyes bled…. Samira is the kind of person that I know she isn’t able to do as much, but she’ll still push herself…
And grandma left such a difficult case… Jang has lived too long to be that cursed…
Now that we were done, I needed to do something else. Jang needed to be addressed. This can’t keep happening.
I teleported to the front door of Uncle Xaxas’s condo. He’s a homebody, but oddly enough he keeps his avatar to judge souls Below so he can be up here unhindered. If he’s not larping as an officer, he’s larping as a bum.
“It’s never locked and Fuck You.” He shouted. Xaxas was in his custom god sized recliner playing a shooting game. He had on a headset, and despite how comically small the controller was, he was pretty good.
But why would it…? What lock could protect whoever was dumb enough to even try this *building*?! The God of Death Lives a Floor Down.
“Hi Tyson!” Yelled Harmony from their open kitchen. “Stay for Taco Night.”
“Sorry, Eskaal already treated me.” I waved.
Inside, their condo looked like a generic, but cozy apartment. They had their fireplace going, while Harmony was making dinner. It was also 6pm now.
I’m losing sense of time with so many realm changes… The news was on, but nothing really happens with so many kings living in one area. Asanguis, Jerold the King of Halves, Xaxas, and Grandpa Kaiden, the Former Crown Prince, live in Jentucky.
Grandpa Kaiden is the second strongest mortal wolf alive. If I had not defeated him and grandfather, he would be Standing King right now.
And Fucking Miserable.
Kaiden threw that fight… Grandpa didn’t. He wanted to be sure I could handle both the mental and physical requirements.
“Come On Cory! What the Fuck man!” yelled the Realm King.
“I’m the only human on this team!” He yelled. That mortal comes from the Chance family. From time to time, we’re paid gold coins to be their guardian ‘angels’.
It’s something Eskaal complains about, since Cory is still in High School.
“I’m mortal too.” Growled Uncle Connor…. “They’re *too* good. EdgLard0’s cheating. Fuck I’m dead.” I could hear him slam his controller on probably a couch, or something soft.
“Yeah, and I don’t like cheaters. I hope he enjoys the diarrhea.” Chuckled Xaxas evilly.
“Stop Cursing People To Win!” Shouted Harmony from the kitchen, and he got laughed at.
He didn’t really give me the opportunity to ask yet, so I let whatever this was play out. I figured interrupting him would just piss him off.
