Chapter 55

Bryson

“Oh yeah, it used to grow everywhere when I was a kid.” Said Zackery, but Ven’s irritation was extremely rare…. I paid attention to his words.
/Make Her Leave Bryson. Father is livid… I can feel it through the brand on the earth./
“Go Home Everyone!” I shouted. “Especially *you* wildflower!”
“Oh Gods Damn It!” Isabelle shouted back.
There had to be at least 3 nosy wolves in the bushes with her…Libby…Warrior Gizmo…. Adam. I could literally see the 4 of them when I closed my eyes.
“Oh gods damn it. Adam you shouldn’t have brought your sister!” Zackery yelled at his son.
Now that I think of it, my Beta’s starting to get close to a thousand? He was already an Alpha before… Two or three more centuries and honestly, he might leave to be an Alpha again. I can’t see an elder remaining when I know he’s strong enough to regain his position.
He sat on the other side of the log, and tossed them in. The blue pine resin made it blaze, pop, and turn a vibrant orange with greens mingled in.
“I didn’t even know we had magic trees here….” Said Adam. He was at the foot of the clearing, the little shit.
I didn’t want *anyone* here, but Zackery kept insisting. I didn’t want his involvement, since this is dark magic. I’d already summoned the help I needed too, but he didn’t want me to be alone.
After all, he is their godfather. Whenever the pups weren’t with me, they were with him or his pups playing outside. All of them ran around together as their own little makeshift pack.
…Adam drove from the northernmost border! “…. How’d you even find out?!”
“Libby You Too!” Shouted Zackery.
“AND YOU TOO WILDFLOWER!” I shouted.
Isabelle growled. “He’ll listen to me!”
“He won’t!” Barked Ven taking over.
It’d been a long time since he’d done that, and I wasn’t about to let that happen now. If he was this worked up, I probably shouldn’t even be doing this.
[We can help!] Libby linked. I facepalmed.
“You know what.” I growled.
I did the thing Xaxas does whenever anything pisses him off.
Magic…
I made sure I was VERY careful, but everyone landed in front of the packhouse…. From probably 4 feet in the air since this part of the pack is a little bit higher in elevation.
This was another reason why I don’t like being what I am….
All I had to do was want it, and with the wave of my hand the red portal under their feet took them where I wanted… As Four, if I wanted to leave and make my own solar system, I was told I’m already strong enough to make a white star…., but I don’t have the control nor confidence to even put them inside a building….
If I get stuck inside the kitchen table again, my organs won’t be impaled, unlike the steak I tested last week…. I’d just break everything around me… They’d become intertwined with the wood… yet another reason on this imaginary list…..
I only did it that way because once my wildflower is set on something, you can’t change her mind. Also, Ven’s aim is immaculate. It’s *me* that’s the issue.
/You didn’t add that part again./ Said Ven.
I snapped my fingers.
I made it so she can’t shift for 3 hours… As the Risen One, she becomes a beautiful, feathered fire wolf. her front paws are eagle talons, and feathers sprout from her arms.
She’s going to kill me when I get home, but I’d rather hear her yell at me than ignore my instincts… Ven knows best in this case….
/Thank you./ he said with a puffed chest. /She can’t shift for 5 hours though./
I absolutely hated that I did that, but thankful that I did…. Also thankful that Ven blocked her link… I see why her father made her get creative instead of swearing growing up…
I was a lichen-licking, horse-faced left shoe with a goiter…. I sighed.
“Sorry Alpha. They mean well.” Said Zack.
“I know. You know *you* don’t have to be here either.” I said poking the bonfire with a stick. It was just about ready, and the time was finally right.
I linked Warrior Commander Paul for a sweep. He’s not stronger than Isabelle, but with magic the cars don’t work.
/I ran off the usuals./ Linked Paul, and I linked a grunt.
I think Isabelle called them Goth Kids?
They break curfew and try to summon me…. They also usually hung out here, since it was the closest thing we have to a cemetery besides the one in Opal. We usually cremate our dead, but in packs this deep in the boonies, we can get away with it.
/We are *not* wolves./ Said Ven, my annoying inner wolf who is dead set on taking our powers and ‘just fix’ the problem.
/You know full well what I mean. / I hissed.
/We are More, yet you keep trying to pretend Bryson. You already look down on the little mortals, and see them more as your pups./
I sighed. /Could you Not right now? I’m trying to figure this shit out./
These instructions weren’t too confusing, but I wished she wasn’t finishing a barrier on her broom. The parchment said next I was supposed to throw a stick of cinnamon into the bonfire.
I rummaged around.
I didn’t know there were *multiple* kinds of cinnamon… so I tossed in the one I see in the grocery store, Cassia cinnamon...
I tossed it in, but it didn’t look right. The fire went from orange to brown, then green.
