Chapter 80

Tyson
I panted heavily, trying to compose myself to touch Jang first.
That would determine the winner.
When I got there Samira was passed out on a pillow, while I could tell at some point he tried leaving the Queen’s Quarters. He was almost to the door, dying in my mate’s chambers… He gasped, suffering…
He was in so much pain he was not technically awake, and his soul was so worm eaten that I could barely see it.
Bugs crawled out of him before they caught on fire and died, and he was breathing his last breaths. He wanted to pass, but he didn’t know that if he did, the Reaper would either take him in as a godless orphan or have to toss him in the pit.
“I didn’t fly too fast, did I?” Asked Asanguis behind me. I shifted, touching Jang’s shoe before he could.
“No, and thank you for letting me win.” I panted still…. He’s *fast*.
Asanguis put a hand on my shoulder. “You are the blood of my brother’s blood. You may as well be my own.” He smiled gently. “You’re a little arrogant and full of yourself, but you do have a good heart.”
I initially had no words for my uncle, but I remember being a pup in his arms… I remember he watched us every day. I’d see a glimpse of him when we were out and about, just a moment, not even a heartbeat, just to make sure we were alright…
I don’t know if they train us like this on purpose or not, but honestly, I don’t care. He didn’t have to do anything. Asanguis could have zipped here as a god and already be done with this, not sharing a word.
He didn’t have to help, yet he did because he wanted to.
“I …. I try to do right. Uncle if you ever have need of me, I’ll do it for free.” I bit my wrist…..What was this feeling? It seems since Samira, that I find new ones every day.
This kind of comradery does not happen in the Light Court… the Night court is and operates like a family. Only a fool would wish for anything more… Demigods are made on purpose usually…
The demigods of other gods are usually treated like a car, or some other single purchase that’s not bought unless needed since it’s expensive, but replaceable… seen as one too. A Commodity… a trinket, bobble, appliance or toy.
A Product to use when your mortals need something, but you don’t want to do it…
Jang gasped loudly, completely incapacitated… His soul is basically just in his body because Asanguis didn’t pull it out. He doesn’t even have the energy to die on his own…
The Symbol of Death gave my robes back again.
“That’s better.” He chuckled.
“Is he alright?” Asked Nixxia.
“No, but he will be my dear.” Said Asanguis.
He put me in my uniform, since I’m not a proper, sworn in general. When I do, I think these are supposed to be standard issue, magic shift-with-you robes.
I put Jang’s head in my lap and kind of had to let it sit on his lips until he was able to lift his head. He drank my blood without a problem once he started. Jang shifted into an almost blue, but gray wolf no bigger than maybe a dog? A labrador?
Fuck he’s smaller than Grandma Eclipse now… He had to be only 150 pounds now.
“I disagree with Xaxas, but to fix what’s left of such a ratty soul, it had to be condensed. He lost his fur color too, but that’s superficial” Said Asanguis with a hiss. This pissed him off. “But I get it. If he does manage to get killed in your service, you’ll be able to collect him in my throne room.”
“Thank you again uncle. Can I pay you a coin to allow him medical care?” I asked.
“He’s alive now. Here.” Asanguis waved his hand. “I don’t know why Judge didn’t lift the diseases, but that was on purpose.”
“My blood would have slowly cured those? I think He meant him to suffer as long as he could get away with.” I said casually, because that was normal. Gods when pissed are petty.
“I’m telling Harmony.” Sang Nixxia angrily. With a text, I knew he got an earful.
However, punishments like this…. They are needed…. What if he just allowed someone to attempt to assassinate his mate? Harmony might not be here. But also, Xaxas is Three.
He wanted all who saw to shake at how eaten, yet alive this soul was…
“Your majesty.” Kneeled Shakira. “I sensed I was needed sir.”
Fur rippled across her arms at the sight of me like this, because I am unnatural, but it was strange. She didn’t mistrust me, while looking like basically a fancy demon in this getup.
“Take Jang to his chambers. I have Samira.” I said gently. I got up and handed him off, but she wasn’t rough with him…. She can’t see it, but she can smell how sick he really was. He’s going to need to probably rest at the pack’s clinic a few days.
“He will be weak and miss his mate, but that isn’t really the biggest issue.” Said Asanguis. “Those were soul-worms. They are made to break down a soul into soil, and the soul cannot regenerate what is taken by them.”
So he will never be fit for battle again, but at least he’s healthy now.
“Then if I want a Warrior, I’ll have to restore him somehow too…. Could I ask Eskaal to see what he can do?” I asked.
Getting Tia back up here will be the issue. She’s with her family right now… and if I did get that soul, how am I going to get it back up here and keep her from being reaped? She can’t stay a stray spirit.
“If Eskaal cannot at least partly resolve this…. I doubt even father could.” Asanguis vanished.
This is going to cost a lot…. But it must be done right. He is my 6th, and I will not let him be a walking mateless corpse….
Also no more GhostMoon.
Let that cursed land rest. Let it be a graveyard since that place was literally his tomb.
I shambled with my mate to our room, careful not to use magic. I’d done too much, and I had so little left today…
I fell asleep, putting Samira on the bed while I even lost my form. I just slept like that. I don’t fit on the bed, but there was at least a rug…. I wondered did Kaizen go through this with all his healthy thralls? Maybe.
I kept hearing clicks, but honestly if I was being photographed, I didn’t care.
It cant be *that* bad right?
----Samira----
I hugged Tyson’s neck while Shakira took the photos…. I put my head in his mouth.
“You shouldn’t do this my lady.” She still warned, but nobody could stop me.
“It’s fine!” I said posing. I did bunny ears, one where I pretended to be scared, and one where I rode his back. I held a random candelabra as a sword, riding my mighty steed into battle.
[Ah yah yah.] He said in his sleep, which made it even funnier.
He shifted.
“I said cut it out.” He chuckled sleepily, catching me by flipping around as he shifted. “Shakira, leave us a moment.”
“I kind of saw what happened. Jang’s small and kind of blue now, right?” I asked.
“He’s not even the size of a shifter, but you don’t have to heal him anymore.”
I hugged Tyson’s neck and cried.
“Thank you!” I yelled… I couldn’t help myself.
Seeing so many horrors, and feeling them… It was overwhelming and surreal to know that’s one less soul to mend… but this time as a priestess, I didn’t feel as icky after.
There was a light tap on the door, but I didn’t know the Night Court had angels? He had nearly glowing tan skin, white hair and angel’s wings…. His orange eyes blazed, but he also kneeled.
“I am Kenriel, and there has been an incident.” He kneeled.
