Chapter 12
                    Samira
“Sorry. I forgot you don’t speak my native language...” He said, still looking at the window.
“I do a little… but I can’t leave you like this.” My stomach growled… “I heard what happened… Give him time to turn himself in… Then go from there.” I offered as advice, but he shook his head.
“He has killed so, so many pack…. I burn, little dove. There is too much hellfire in my heart to do anything other than lament and growl. Go eat. Allow me to brood here a little longer.” He said calmly. It was …. As if he were talking about the weather, that was the startling part. I could scent rage so thick I could almost taste it…. Yet he stood there.
His face was calm as a spring breeze… Had I only seen that, I’d be fooled.
It was then that his blazing eyes intensely glared at me… I submitted my people’s way, by bowing my head.
“I cannot allow your hunger.” He said firmly. “Don’t stay up here with me.”
“Then come downstairs; eat with me my lord…” I asked as sweetly as I could. He closed his eyes, and shrank. There was the handsome statue I said yes to.
He snorted a laugh.
“What’s so funny?” I demanded.
He held my hand gently. “It’s a little too fantastical….” He admitted sheepishly.
“It isn’t! I come from a crazy family too…” I said shaking his arm. He didn’t budge. “The Glittering One title makes my brother able to hear secrets.”
…Allister really can learn people’s deepest….darkest…. most hidden secrets passively, the true purpose of the title of ‘Glittering One’.…. I can’t, but my sister was born able to… It’s how they found my vibrator!
He laughed harder.
“Tell Me!” I whined shaking his arm as hard as I could. We walked down the stairs, and he still laughed. It was as if he’d heard the best joke ever told, but his people can link…. Maybe someone did to cheer him up?
Inside, the grand dining room had a wooden table that could probably fit 40 people……. It was longer than the one we had at home by double, but mother didn’t really entertain much…. The original Wolf King did.
The gold dining plates and candles…. They looked real, not brass. We sat across from each other, leaving the head of the table empty. I wonder did he do that on purpose, or did he just want to be near me at a better angle. I wasn’t complaining though… His gentle touch as he pulled the chair out for me made me blush.
The eyes of the king were sharp as a knife… His glare was one of desire….
“What color was it?” He asked.
“What color was what?” I asked a little confused.
He grinned…. It was so sinister that it made me blush… He leaned in, and mumbled in my ear so low only I would hear. “The vibrator.
*I was Mortified!*
“NO!” I yelled. “YOU CAN’T KNOW THAT!”
It was purple with navy blue tiger stripes, but I wouldn’t say that! I only got it because…. It took away the urges after the crazy dreams…
“But I do.” He sang. “I hear you buzz little mate.”
“But It’s None of anybody’s business!” I screamed blushing red, running through the lobby in embarrassment.
“It was purple striped and… navy blue? Not my first choice.” He laughed. “Oh my gods you kept it *under the bed*?!”
“Stop!” I whined. I said that drawing out the ‘o’!
“Alright, alright.” He giggled, petting my hair. “If it makes you feel better, I think it’s cute you tried to contain your urges.” His chuckle slowed to a rumble. “The mate bond… it can get a little aggressive if you don’t meet your one within a certain amount of time. I had those dreams too…. About 6 months.”
…. “Does that mean you knew?” I asked. He smiled weakly.
“It was torture, especially hiding it from my siblings…. I figured it out a few days ago though. I saw your picture on your family’s webpage, and just…. I knew.” He admitted.
“So love at first sight *is* real.” I giggled.
“It is…. However, I thought it best not to say anything. If I came for you, with the way you ran last night… you’d have rejected me. Either that, or it would have never been a good time to talk to you, since I also know you avoided royal duties until uncle Xaxas became fed up.” He said receiving a plate of meat.
They gave him bacon, ham, eggs, toast, jam, sausage, and to top it off a 20oz steak on a separate plate. It was accompanied by a terrifying, full length beef bone as thick as mine when I shift… I just had a salad with some cheese with dates…. And I snuck an extra apple. Nobody stopped me. The brunette werewolf servant had on an apron, serving the king personally. She bowed after she’d handed it to him, and he smiled gently at the hesitant woman.
“Thank you, Clemintine. Tell my bum uncles you made breakfast. I’m sure they’ll love to come down.”
“Yes master-I Mean Your Highness!” She bowed and ran off.
“I get that a lot as ‘the duke of demons’, and a ‘future general of hell’.” He commented casually.
“Are all your servants really wolfless?” I asked.
“Is it a bad thing?” He asked being handed wine by another servant, Mr. Julian.
“No, just…. That’s a little odd to get used to. With our people, unicorns are safe to go where we please….We aren’t hunted by the Church. So, we never needed Omegas as wolves do.” I admitted sheepishly.
“Then I assume all who don’t become priests and such suffer?” He asked, biting through the bone… I knew he did that to test my reaction. I chose to be stoic, and hide how… well… How unsettling that was. He could bite right through a cow without shifting. That was more than impressive, that was completely unnatural *even* for a supernatural….
“We call them… the horseless….With your people, they are allowed to run delivery services and other things… about the best an Omega unicorn can do is menial labor and small, unimportant jobs, *Possibly* work at, but not manage or own a shop in a human city… Even accounting jobs are usually done by non-Omegas… My people… they don’t suffer since we can live among humans without fear of the Ring… Well, we are targets of some hunters, but I’m sure being ostracized must be Hard….” I said this forking my arugula…. I hated arugula. I wanted more dates….
He chuckled, and his eyes flashed red a second. “You do realize you’re a *queen* now. No one is going to get you for eating too many swee-” I cut him off.
“…. Allister Never lets me have more than 10.” I said taking the whole plate, and stuffing my face… I hoped none of his family would see how unpolite this was… but I mixed the rest of the salad in… Now I had sweet salad, my favorite that I never get!
“Allister was controlling your diet?” He asked.
“….. He said he didn’t want me to get fat.” I complained. “He was a control freak after mom went to sleep… His motivations were in the right place…. He wanted me to be a proper lady at All times….” He wanted me to marry and keep the status quo…
Tyson glared at me with an expression I couldn’t really read. “You need not ask permission for whatever you desire my love.” He kissed my hand. “But to speak of lighter things, Julian linked me that my family is up now.”
“I take it that I’m going to meet your family sooner than 3pm.” I said a little worried… I wondered how they would feel about my lineage. I remembered that dream, but they wouldn’t know about any of that… They would just see a unicorn weakling with their prodigy of a King.
“My family already adores you.” He smiled, putting a hand on mine. “Don’t worry. We may be dark creatures, but we aren’t dark in attitude for the most part.”
Before I could say anything, my phone rang.
“Do you mind if I take this?” I asked. He kissed me on the forehead.
“Speak with your brother. I’m sure he’s worried.” He smiled. I…. I could see a silent anger behind that smile. The King of Wolves had a massive temper, but a massive amount of self-control to go with it.
