Chapter 36

Tyson
I found him passed out, laid out on the packhouse floor, while father was no better… He sang old tavern songs and played the guitar, while I could sense the souls of many of these people were not as heartbroken as they were earlier today…. And that was the goal of it.
Whether or not dad even realized, he used his powers to heal our people.
It will be temporary, but I know they value whatever relief they can get…
My uncle helped. I saw his arms folded at kitchen island, but I saw him twirl his finger… Judgment and Justice worked together…. Samira in her sweetness purified the dark nature of their energies… She did this passively, without knowing. She was basically a living humidifier so to speak.
If only grandma, Queen Gweneth got to train her… As the Soul Mender, she could have taught such a rare skill to my mate if she had the ability.
Grandmother was the only…. But the fountain in the Queen’s Quarters does store Some of her energies…
“Come dance with us!” Samira beamed.
“Of course.” I smiled… I had 4 left feet… but I made sure I was careful and faked it. This was our first dance, and what better place than with old friends….
Now the only one left to aid those old friends, is me. It’s up to me to hold up my vow, and make sure old wounds don’t open up faster because Kaizen ‘gets away with it’.
/Sorry Alpha. I’ll make sure he gets home./ she chuckled.
I did after I looked deep into his soul. I don’t see Libby much, but I won’t allow him to be a sloppy drunk more than once in my presence.
He’ll have a massive hangover… but he’ll be fine. I looked so hard that I saw his childhood. Apparently, his favorite color is actually teal not ‘regular blue’. He just calls it ‘kinda blue, kinda green’. I didn’t even know what I was worrying about. That’s her true mate; her father is a former Alpha himself. Her brother is a Gamma. And I am her kid brother.
Omegas hold a soft spot in my heart because they cannot protect themselves. They submissively serve, but aren’t so scared it annoys me. They are no stronger than a human… They cannot see, hear, or even taste as we purebloods do. I can close my eyes, and detect the subtle flavors of joy, sorrow, what race of meat, and if it was a sinner…
Granted, most normal wolves can’t do that either, but the most compelling thing about them, is that despite their disability, they are the most pleasant to work with… None of them are stuck up or think they’re better or worse than any other wolf…
Being an Omega is random anyway… I’m glad the goddess made it that way. I could just as easily could have been born powerless, and my brother king…

Samira
We twirled and danced until about 3am, and everyone was either too drunk or too sleepy to continue. We all went home after that. We said our goodbyes, being teleported home by Xaxas this time…
We were still queasy… but that was more because he used so much power, not because of the disorienting yank….
“Gods… I’m going to bed.” Said Tyson.
“Goodnight.” I said seeing him yawn. We both got under the covers, and he didn’t even respond. I kissed him on the forehead, and he was already out…
Holy cow.
He didn’t even change clothes… He crashed and went to sleep, but I was still up. I laid in bed, but couldn’t go! I hated that. I used to be too scared to sleep as a kid, and crash at the *worst* times….
Like when I was told the bedtime story of Asanguis, who now …. Now that I know him, gods know the Three Princes *aren’t* scary….They’re just regular, but impossibly powerful people…
“Did you hear?” Said a female servant in the hall.
“What?” Said another woman… I didn’t recognize these. This castle has so many….
“His majesty might take a second wife.” Said the other female werewolf.
“Stop it Ulissa, Clemintine will hear!” she giggled.
“Either her or some other Omega… He likes them submissive. Maybe I might try my shot tomorrow.”
Now Ulissa had my attention…
Mother taught me about this too, but I would not be brash and barge out yet. Father really is the most beautiful male elf, and her the most beautiful female unicorn… I can’t count how many times I’d seen them openly flirted with…
There were some people who did *not* care that their mate and children were around…
“Ulissa, I thought you were joking, but you’re young enough to let your wolf get you in trouble… Plus you shouldn’t believe everything you hear! You shouldn’t go repeating it either!”
“Egbert told me! He’s not a liar.” She hissed.
“That doesn’t Matter! You’re *new*….. *young*, only 45… *unmated*. Mr. Julian gave you and your friends a chance! I’ll give you a heads up, and make sure your wolf’s listening. I’ve worked here eight thousand years. The *fastest* way to get yourself in the basement is messing with the mate of their majesties. They’re true mates, and do *not* forget that if you anger his majesty… They really *can* and *will* send you to hell.”
“Mae, That’s not real.” Ulissa scoffed.
“Those horns and flames should tell you that I speak the truth. His eyes glow red for the Lady’s sake!” Mae said that referring to the Moon Goddess, the Pale Lady. “Be quiet, and think for a second. What do you think will happen if you try this plan….”
“I was kidding.” Ulissa said defensively.
“Shut up and Think or I will report you!! Why did they hire so many *FLIPPING* Children?!! Why did the Fransis Family Retire!” Mae hissed.
It was silent a few minutes.
“My wolf thinks heat and fully awakening will sway him… but I know you’re right. Don’t report me. I know better.” Ulissa said fearfully.
“If you or any of your friends try *anything* I’m not going to Mr. Julian. Dad will likely just suspend you. I’m telling one of the masters… and they will make an example out of you... I’ve *seen* what they do…I know my place… It is kneeling at the Kings feet, asking him and her majesty what they want... His majesty plays nice because we are too weak to be a threat… and he pities us at best. This isn’t the human world… We don’t get the luxury of democracy or fair trials with lawyers; they just kill you…”
“I know.”
“I can’t flippin’ tell! I’ll give you my breakfast duty, so you can see the pelt of the last person to anger them…If it’s on display. There are … There are a lot of them. So many that they rotate them for display and conservation.” Mae said this as if she were talking about the BookieMan….
I didn’t notice those… that… That’s NOT normal…
Skinning a werewolf like that keeps them from passing on…. That’s why the castle is haunted… That’s why Tia is still here. That bracelet is her pelt, but I already knew that… I didn’t know there were *more* though….
“He is the Realm King’s Second… If you cannot do this, resign now, or spend eternity in some kind of torment like Lord Jang.” Said Mae.
“You have my blood oath that I won’t be stupid… I’ll find my own mate.” She said a little angrily.
“Your desires to be bred by his majesty is actually natural, since you haven’t found your mate. Your job is to control your nearly dormant wolf…. If you mess up, you’ll ruin such a nice job for any after you… They don’t even hire Omegas with awake, but inactive wolves…Wait. Didn’t Egbert serve Lord Brutus? You’ll get him killed too if this gets out, and I know he’s just a big dumb gossip….”
“Don’t say that name! Let’s go clean the arena…. Why’d you say *that* name of all people. His majesty is probably awake in there listening to us!”
I got up. I came out before they could slink away.
“Your highness, I-” I cut off the most fearful one, likely Ulissa. She was incredibly pretty, sporting silvery copper, two-toned hair, and amber eyes.
Mae looked like her father… I hated that she could become involved if this does escalate. I’ll be sure to defend her.
“Silence.” I hissed. “Go clean the arena, and let the other new werewolves know that the King has a mate.” I glared my harshest look… I doubt I fooled anyone…
My heart raced… I’d never been so mean to a servant, but if I’m not, I had a feeling she’d break her oath anyway, and try something.
But it *DID* feel good to see them run off…
