Chapter 23

A/N: Warning, this chapter does have mention of imaginary drugs guys. Don’t snort unicorn dust! Not Even Once!
Tyson
The Goblin King’s youngest nephew snorted a line of pure unicorn horn dust, while the slave they had chained to the wall had his tears collected. He was no older than 12. They’d already killed his twin brother, the one whose horn was ground up on the table.
On either side of him were white dust or brown sugar bricks, so for the most part, there was no gore. On the table were bags of glitter… Each brick was a unicorn….Each baggie of glitter was a horn… Each life was reduced to their components… They even had buckets of dark rust smelling dust… powdered unicorn blood….
You’d see it and think someone sold chemicals or artist paint powders in bulk…
I became aware that Samira likely saw this through the bond… I had a feeling she’d see bodies for the first time with this vision…. I broadcasted it for my Council to see… but I made a mistake.
I miscalculated. I didn’t block her off. I turned my head stuck in this moment in time, but I could see her horror just fine. There were bodies being processed in all stages… shit.
“That’s it right there. Woo.” Chuckled Gab’wizy excitedly. I knew what the goblin did, including the names and locations of everything in the area. “I told you the kids make purer shit.” He grinned, showing his pointed teeth.
I looked around this strange transparent vision…. I could see what was happening around me, and what was being acted out in front of me like a projected hologram. It reminded me of Trek Star.
“Boss…. I don’t know. The Omega I sold to is losing his shit out there. I feel like he’s gonna snitch.” They paused their conversation because they heard the Omega, Yoseph “…maybe fuck up.” Said Teaptep, the goblin whose skull I held… It would take no effort to pop it.
-But I gave my word that *I* wouldn’t kill him if he talked. I scratched my chin while I watched this.
I’ll have Shakira do it.
“Whatever. His money’s good, and keepin’ him *hooked* keeps the cops blind as a bat.” Grinned Gab’wizzy. He’ll be back by sundown, and sell to ‘um at double the price. He’s a ‘liability’ after all.” He grinned lighting a cigar.
“Yes lord Geb’wizzy.” Teaptep bowed to his superior.
“Shakira I’ve seen enough. Kill him.” I said losing my temper. I couldn’t watch them kill a kid. They threw the boy on the table, and had the saw in hand.
There had to have been at least 20 or 30 unicorns…. Well… 20 or 30 unicorn bricks….
Shakira snapped his neck so I could be forcibly pulled from this vision… Samira didn’t need to see that. I have nothing against Standing King Wix’lek and his people, but I better not find out that he fucking knows this is going on.
He’s his father’s replacement, so he has no champion’s blessing. Someone who does that to the innocent does not deserve to breathe.
I was given a rag to wipe the sweat off my forehead… The screams and stench… “Their den is in Wtichita Kansus.” I said angrily. “Shakira, you have my full authority to take the pack of RoyalMoon and the Royal Guard, on the authority of the Wolf King to smite them. Their ring leaders should be kept alive, but I want the left hands of them all.” I said firmly.
“It shall be done sire.” Said my 5th Seat, Oliver. The Dead One with a nod of my head was permitted to text his connections.
I turned to look at my mate… She stood there stoically, but she couldn’t hide how torn she was.
Beautiful, even in tears. She shed them for her people, for the lost souls who were too weak to save themselves..
“I’m going personally. Fuck it.” I said angrily.
“No, you’re needed here.” Said Samira. I don’t know how I got to her so fast, just that I was tired after. I hugged her gently, and she balled into my jacket.
“You saw too much.” I said petting her hair. “Don’t argue either.” I chuckled lightly, but I was hoping to reduce some of her sorrows. It kind of worked. I saw her small smile, showing rosy cheeks and blushed elf ears.
She wanted to apologize for her weakness, but I was glad she chose not to say such a thing… I couldn’t understand, but I would empathize. She is frail, but I will support her so she can become strong. I was born with all my powers, were most have to wait.
I could break bones before I could read…Death is natural to one who hunts his meals… She does not. As a unicorn, the most vicious meat she’ll battle is grass, and her people are made of the same stuff as puppies.
She saw his secret, being the Glittering One, that he began to like what he was doing, but kept killing them for money. He was paid good too… a half million for an adult horn, and a full million for a child’s.
It was then cut with crystalized unicorn tears, and their blood dried. They also crushed and made the bones ashes, and powdered the flesh by dehydrating it…. They perfected processing of the ‘whole beast’ in their words… It gave a high that lasted days…
That Omega is going to die of heart failure in his cell, but he wasn’t poisoned. I don’t even think there’s a cure for that much dust in his blood.
His day job was working within the Supernatural Liaison Affairs Department (SLAD) of the Secret Police.
I am king. I have my ruling.
/Let the Omega in cell B2-43 die./ I linked Shakira bitterly.
/I was about to report my lord….The Omega has already… He frothed at the mouth and passed before he could get to the infirmary./ She linked back.
/Email me a full report later./
The Omega contributed to the problem, and in such a pivotal position, he would have been able to get as much as he wanted….
“They’ve killed so many… I saw all their faces my lord. I wish to retire.” Samira cried, feeling ashamed that she showed emotion. “I fear I am no use to you.”
Shit… she saw more than I did… That makes sense… They are her people after all. It only makes sense that she sees *how* they became bricks…
I rushed to try and console my dove. As a unicorn held up in a castle her entire life, this was likely the first time she’d ever seen a body… yet alone the culling of a screaming child. That pissed me off… I held her as gently as I could.
I could hear my court’s linking. I let them see for themselves through a king’s link, and all of them were thoroughly disgusted.
They could not send images, but I could. I won’t sugar coat how serious this is. Our people’s involvement tarnishes our houses, but more importantly… It breeds needless suffering.
It endangers an already rare race…They also send the Realm King’s ire our way as well. I must report this to him… His mood will be soured. He ordered this illegal decades ago.
“Don’t say that Samira.” I said rubbing my thumb over her mark. I hope she felt the comfort I tried to send. I wanted to reassure her… “You do not know battle, nor the hunt. That was the first time you’ve seen a body, wasn’t it.” I kissed her on the top of the head. I held her close to me, and she soothed the rage in my heart…
I felt like red hot iron plunged in water from something as simple as her touch. Before her, if someone told me this, I’d laugh.
Why did I have to work?
I won’t abandon the mate I just got…but I cannot stop court. Too many rulings are to be dealt with… executions as well, about 8. The best thing right now is for her to be out of here; Samira’s at her limit. She’s seen too much violence, and I expected too much.
Even now, she still saw more visions of the plight of unicorns… Those were things she was not ready to see.
“Mr. Julian, take my mate to our chambers.” I said gently letting her stand on her own feet. “Your sweetness is more needed than you’ll ever know.”
She looked up at me with tear filled eyes. “Please catch them Tyson.” She said it so sweetly that it broke my fucking heart.
“As King, I will not allow my people to contribute to such disgusting behavior.” I vowed this to her…
“My lord… those of us who have lived long know this goblin.” Said Ronitus, my second.
“Then I will leave his capture to you. If Wix thinks to stop me, tell him to come in person.” I said firmly.
There will be justice for those unicorns. OpalMoon too… Kaizen won’t get off for this.
