Chapter 74

Ronitus
/His majesty organized your dinner in the ballroom./ Said Clementine.
/Wow… I’ll be sure to thank him./ I linked back.
The King was with his family; I wouldn’t annoy him.
My son came with his children, and honestly Harry, my grandson, looked as shocked as I was. We all met up in the ballroom as instructed, and my son was with both his children, and his mate. The four of them looked shocked, while me and my mate were as well.
After all, we went from a family of 2 to 7 in around a century. It feels like yesterday that we came to this continent, and tried to start over with LapisMoon.
John pressed foreheads with Gillitus. “I have a cousin.” He said happily.
“I have a cousin…. I don’t know how I feel about all this… Until now It was just me and mother… then just me.”
“That sounded lonely.” I mumbled. If not for my mate, I’d have had the same happen to me…
“I don’t feel that. Lycan are designed to be loners, so the goddess blessed us this way…. But this sensation, the feeling of pack, is forging.” Gillitus admitted.
“Do you feel it with Lord Kaizen?” I asked.
“Always… but this is different. You lot occupy a different part of this.” He felt his heart….
“How well were you treated?” I asked. He looked like he was thinking about it.
“Other than mother, poorly. No one trusts a Lycan, and they shouldn’t.” He smiled at the last part, telling a bit of a morbid joke. I rolled my eyes.
“You’re more like Rom than you know.” I said making my way to the ballroom.
“…How was my dad?” He asked. As the Second Seat, I’m old enough to hear him. He has no inner wolf, he *is* the lycan.
“Funny, always getting into some kind of trouble with me. He got his flesh form after… After Gulteer.” I said that bastards name out loud. It felt like I was calling the damn Horned One.
I serve his majesty because of his nobility… That he swore to his people that he would protect us, and the Horned One as dangerous as he is, won’t compromise one of his Upper Generals without reason.
Also the wolves are his wife’s people… Zuviel would not want to upset the Pale Lady. Her grace and protection are why we little shifters didn’t suffer as much as everyone else…
***BOOM***
/Code 15/ I mass linked.
I took no chances… I figured someone was still upset with the ruling.
I read the mind of every victim… They’re Much too small to be a physical threat. I checked EVERY part of the castle; we even sniffed for bombs.
I had security so tight that even our families were strip searched…
Yet I *still* failed.
The sound of fire alarms and the rushing of guards made me shift.
For my king and especially my queen, I *must* lay down my life. If I die, my son will take on my position. I’m sure he’ll do fine.
I galloped on four legs, while Gillitus was on two. Lycans look more like movie wolves, while we look like actual ones…. Except much bigger. I’m probably 650 pounds shifted, a little bigger than a male grizzly.
In the event of an attack, as my heir, John is to evacuate our mates and his pups. They likely won’t be able to fight another wolf, but *he* can… I put all my faith in that boy.
I caught the scent of a fucking Kitsune.
*They are Nothing but Trouble.* They are one of the few kinds of shifter than can do magic.
[An Intruder!] I screamed nearly catching the little shit. If not for their teleport, I’d have had their back leg or tail.
[Secure my brother’s Luna!] Barked the king, shifting in midair…. He was twice my size, truly a sight to behold.
Alarms were sounded. King Tyson and Prince Kaizen were shifted together, while Queen Grace and the golden Dragon King weren’t, but they had their weapons.
Their teleportation magic was unpredictable, almost as if they’d just learned they had powers, but that isn’t possible.
There were no youths that attended the fight, and all those guests were long gone… How did this one get in here?!
It tried going back inside, but it didn’t work with Shakira nor her guards.
/It’s in the gardens!/ Linked Clemintine’s mate. Shit.
/Don’t let them escape!/ I mass linked the guards, expecting some kind of reaction from the Rogue…. It seemed like they couldn’t understand links…
Maybe they were new…? That was *weird*….
“They’re a Kitsune!” Yelled Alpha Bryson, the Third Lune.
[Where’s Luna Willow?”] Growled Shakira, switching quickly between forms to stop the sprinklers.
[Where’s Willow?!] Screamed Prince Kaizen with so much rage it made all of us stop to submit… [They’re in the gardens. I’ll seal them!]
It started to fly before the realm king teleported behind me.
“Oh no you don’t.” The Realm King said with a little anger. “I hope I don’t pop ‘um.”
…. I’ve seen him explode a wolf’s head because he felt like it. There was no reason other than it was entertaining for him…
The Kitsune fell to the ground lightly, since they were at least 30 feet in the air, and with another teleport, that poor pup was surrounded by the Three Princes of Hell… Each one was a problem in their own right.
Then the prince laughed.
I shifted too…
That was Princess Willow…
I don’t know if her teleport earlier was divine intervention or not, but I thanked the Moon… If I’d have caught her, she’d have shifted. I’m sure I’d have been killed on reflex.
-----Tyson----
With my brother gone, and my sister-in-law one of the fold proper, there was peace...
Me and my mate were in bed together; she was already asleep. Samira’s night stamina is pretty much null, because she’s still getting used to staying up late. Her whole life she was raised on the Light this and that, including a day schedule.
I’m nocturnal. The sun actually makes me sleepy….
And now that I could *efficiently* teleport, I left.
Of all the places to go, I went to feed.
Fuck starving myself. I gain nothing by that much suppression… To endure is noble, but not to the point of whipping myself.
“AH!” screamed my hyena guards down in the dungeon. They were on their phone, and I kind of appeared behind them.
I think that’s woven into this magic…. But also, it is a little funny…
I’m such a dick.
“Sorry.” I said sheepishly. “Take me to the bottom floor.”
“Of course sir.” She said shuddering. The one on the right was the mother, and the daughter on the left looked the most fearful. She thought I came to outright kill them for something so petty. Nothing’s happening. What the fuck else are they supposed to do down here, stair at the walls? Or worse, leer at the scum so scummy, that they earned thousands of years of prison time.
I hate that. I don’t want anyone to be so afraid that they shake like Jani’sa was, the daughter. Jani’Ja, the mother, led the way.
Down the halls and down spiral stairs we went… This place takes a long time to descend…. You must walk the long hall and get to the end, passing a pair of guards each door until you get to the next set of stairs and so on…
At the bottom were the oath breakers, but most notably… the necromancer Rasburben. Immortality was never meant for mortals to have, but there *is* a way….
So long as you’re willing to sacrifice the innocent and steal their time here for yourself… so long as you turn your back on your people, your morals, and your humanity that is.
He lost his ability to feel remorse or compassion… he figured out not only how to maintain his body, but also his youth, and mind. He is the first, original necromancer, stealing that name from a demon he brought into this world that Uncle Jerold recounts regularly.
