Chapter 51 Nowhere to Place Her Dignity
Elena didn't expect Noura to be standing behind her.
She looked at Noura in astonishment and turned to walk away, with Noura calmly following behind her.
Physically, Noura walked faster than her, but out of respect, Noura always stayed about a meter behind her.
"Miss Walker, do you like that man?" Noura persistently asked.
Elena abruptly stopped and turned to look at her. "That man is my sister's attending physician. He got injured while protecting my sister. Didn't you see that?"
"Miss Walker, I have been standing behind you for a while. I didn't eavesdrop intentionally. I'm sorry, but I heard your entire conversation word for word," Noura calmly maintained her tone.
But to Elena, these words carried a hint of threat.
She looked up at Noura and said, "Alright! I admit, he was my first love! If it weren't for Hassan, I would already be his girlfriend, and we would be happily living together..."
Elena felt a bit bitter, but more so, she felt angry and indignant.
Noura calmly gazed into Elena's eyes and shook her head lightly. "Miss Walker, you're wrong. If it weren't for the master, you and your sister would be corpses by now, even your mother..."
Fear slowly filled Elena's eyes. After a long while, she lowered her head, forced to admit the harsh reality. Hassan had given her many things, but he had also taken away her love and happiness.
She no longer argued with Noura about these meaningless topics and said in a defiant tone:
"Alright, you go and inform your master about me! Tell him that I met my lover behind his back."
Noura stood still, a slight smile on her face.
"Miss Walker, if I wanted to expose you, I would only need to record your conversation with that man just now and send it to the master. I guarantee that within three hours, both you and that man will die a gruesome death..."
Noura said seriously, causing Elena to squint her eyes and stare at her, "Are you trying to scare me?"
Noura only slightly curved her lips. "The master has done such things before. His ex-girlfriend was shot by him personally because she betrayed him!"
"Yes, yes, Laila, right?" Elena asked fearfully.
Opening her eyes wide, Elena finally remembered that there was a time when he had muttered a woman's name while he was unconscious.
Noura fell silent, not responding further.
"Miss Walker, it is fortunate that the master has come to like you. Of course, as servants, we also hope for the master's happiness. Ever since you appeared by the master's side, he has changed a lot and become more cheerful. So, I hope you both can continue on well. As for today's events, I can pretend not to have seen anything. Please consider everything I've said as if you haven't heard it, understood?"
Elena stared blankly at Noura's moving mouth!
She couldn't imagine the courage it would take to kill the person she loved so deeply.
Even if it was betrayal, it shouldn't be this cruel!
Perhaps from today onwards, she would need to get to know this man once again.
Just as the car had returned to the villa in the Bay of Paris, Nabil hastily came out.
"Where have you been? It took you so long to come back."
"What's the matter?" Noura asked.
"The master just called and said for Miss Walker to get ready and go to the golf course."
"Alright, I'll help Miss Walker change her clothes right away."
Elena's face remained pale, unable to think properly as if she had been shocked.
Noura held her and quickly walked into the living room.
After a while, Elena suddenly seemed to snap back to reality and said to Noura, "Could you help me change my phone number?"
At this moment, Noura finally revealed a relieved smile. "Thank you, Miss Walker, for finally coming to your senses."
At the Mayo Clinic, after completing the formalities, William eagerly washed his hands, hurriedly took off his surgical gown, and walked out with long strides.
Thinking of Elena's bright eyes, he felt happy.
"Elena..."
Turning around a long corridor, he called out her name.
But all that awaited him was an empty hallway; she had abandoned him once again.
He thought she would at least wait for half an hour, wait for him to come out, and then smile at him...
He liked seeing her worried expression for him, her clean and pure smiling face, holding her delicate hand, and smelling the fresh fragrance of roses from her...
But she still left, not willing to even wait for half an hour...
A bitter smile crept onto his lips; perhaps he was truly deluding himself and her heart never lingered on him.
"William!"
A cheerful and tender shout came from afar, and William looked up.
Chloe, wearing a knee-length pale yellow dress, ran over from a distance.
"William! Looks like you haven't had lunch yet!"
Just as she was about to reach him, she suddenly twisted her foot and almost fell. William reached out to support her, his expression slightly unnatural. "Chloe, be more careful when walking in the future."
"Or maybe you shouldn't wear high heels!" He thought of Elena's small feet in sneakers, so full of youthful energy. "Doesn't William think I look sexier in high heels?"
Women like to wear high heels to accentuate their slender figures. Chloe, though already having a good figure, stood at around 1.7 meters tall. With high heels, she reached 1.75 meters, perfectly matching William's height.
William smiled, "As a doctor, my perspective on this issue is different from that of ordinary people. I think flats are better for the body."
"Okay, then I'll wear sneakers from now on, alright?"
"That's fine!"
William replied absentmindedly.
"Oh, William, what happened to your head? Are you injured?" Chloe finally noticed the bandage on his head.
"I'm fine! Don't make a big deal out of it."
"No, let me see. Is your injury serious?"
William obviously didn't want to discuss it any further and chuckled, "Let's go out for dinner!"
"Great, there's a new steakhouse I've made a reservation at. Now is the perfect time to go."
Chloe took William's arm and happily walked out.
During their lunch, William suddenly looked at Chloe and asked, "Have you seen Elena recently?"
Rarely did Chloe get to have a meal with William, and she was overjoyed. But when she heard the name Elena, she almost choked on her steak.
Quickly grabbing a napkin, she covered her mouth and coughed for a while before apologizing, "Why would William suddenly ask that?"
William simply smiled gracefully without explaining the reason.
Chloe's heart stirred, and she smiled, "Does William like Elena?"
In fact, everyone knew the answer to this question. It's just that neither side had openly admitted it.
At this moment, with Chloe bringing it up, William honestly confessed, "Yes, I like her... It's been many years."
A sour feeling filled Chloe's heart, and her expression twisted a bit.
But she quickly adjusted herself and smiled, "No wonder William has always rejected me. It turns out you have feelings for her. But it's normal, Elena looks very pure, which easily makes guys have a desire to protect her. I've heard that many boys in school pursue Elena."
William turned his head slightly and asked seriously, "Is that so?"
"Yes! But Elena is very picky! I've heard that the guys she rejects are all poor!"
William pursed his lips and smiled, "Am I also poor?"
"Well," William joked, "William is fine too. I wonder why Elena doesn't want a great man like you and instead chooses to become someone's mistress..."
Chloe muttered quietly, observing William's reaction with her eyes.
Indeed, as soon as those words escaped, William's expression changed immediately.
"You say she's someone else's mistress?"
Chloe immediately agreed, "I've only heard it, I'm not sure about the details."
William remained calm and smiled, "Is this a joke? Elena is not that kind of person."
Chloe's smile on her face seemed forced, "I heard her mother was someone else's mistress, and her sister recently drove a Ferrari to school to flaunt her wealth. The whole school knows about it. I can't believe Elena would stoop so low as to become someone's mistress. But, with her abilities, how could she afford a ten-million-dollar luxury car?"
William frowned slightly, "I know some things about this, her sister..." He paused, "Well, let's not discuss these matters. Just know that if you hear anyone talking about Elena in the future, you should try to stop them. Elena is not that kind of girl."
Chloe didn't say anything, she continued eating. After a while, she looked up, "Okay."
Does he really love that despicable girl so much? She didn't believe it. With her family background and looks, she wouldn't lose to that despicable girl!
After a while, she couldn't stand it and asked again, "William, do you plan to keep this up? Knowing that she might already have a boyfriend!"
William remained confident, "I believe that my true feelings will definitely move her."
"And if you saw it with your own eyes, would you still not believe it?"
William stopped discussing and stood up, frowning slightly with displeasure, "Enough, I'm full. Let's not discuss this topic anymore."
Elena, I believe in you. Even if the whole world defames you, I still believe you are innocent.
Chloe looked at William's unhappiness and stopped discussing. She immediately changed the topic.
"William! How about playing golf this afternoon?"
"You play golf?" William raised an eyebrow.
"I don't, but I heard that uncle is good at it. I invited him to be my coach and you can be the audience. It won't take up too much of your time."
William remained silent for a while, seemingly feeling a bit uneasy. After a moment, he slowly nodded, "Alright."
Perhaps it had been too long since he had breathed fresh air outside, so his mood was a bit suppressed. He needed some exercise.
