Chapter 54 No Need to Make a Scene

"What do you need the horse for?" William Spencer asked curiously.

"I want to go back. I've been walking for too long, and I'm tired," Elena replied with a smile.

"I'll take you back. It's dangerous for a young girl to ride alone!" William Spencer said gently, stepping forward to lift Elena onto the horse, then mounting it himself.

His tall figure on the horse, holding the reins in one hand and embracing her waist with the other, made Chloe's eyes turn red. Damn it! This woman had taken advantage of the situation. If only she hadn't brought William Spencer over.

"Elena, the scenery over there is beautiful. Shall I take you for a ride?" William Spencer suggested.

Elena felt as joyful as a little bird in her heart. "Sure! Let's go to a place with mountains over there..."

William Spencer and Elena galloped through the meadow, embracing each other, a sight that deeply irritated Chloe. She clenched her teeth and begrudgingly followed behind them.

She was supposed to be the center of attention today.

The result was overshadowed by Elena, which was really infuriating.

After all, she couldn't compare to him in equestrian skills. She had been chasing after William Spencer for a long time, but she couldn't catch up to him. Soon, their figures disappeared from her sight.

On the horizon, the golden sun gradually tilted towards the west, and the splendid evening glow painted a beautiful picture in the sky.

In the distance, there was a tall pine forest that stretched to the end of the sky. A pool of emerald green water was surrounded by the pine forest like a pearl. The red pine leaves accentuated the clouds on the horizon, creating a breathtaking sight.

William Spencer pulled the reins, dismounted, and carefully helped Elena down.

Leading the horse, they walked towards the pine forest.

Elena widened her eyes. She had never seen such a beautiful scenery before, and it deeply moved her.

"It's so beautiful. It would be so pleasant to live here!"

The air in the forest was filled with a high oxygen content, and coupled with the less scorching weather, Elena felt physically and mentally at ease.

Maybe it was because of the different person beside her, her mood was better. She thought William Spencer would ask her why she was here, but he didn't ask anything.

Leaving William Spencer behind, she dashed to the lake and scooped up a stick of clear water, refreshing her hot little face.

"This golf course is so big!"

"We've already passed the boundary of the golf course. If we go around this mountain, we'll reach our home..." William pointed to the distance.

"This mountain?" Elena looked up. Why did this mountain look so familiar?

"Yes, this is Flower Hill. During the meteor shower last time, the observatory on this mountain was the best viewing spot..." William Spencer said seriously.

Elena was stunned. She had actually arrived at Flower Hill. That night, she was in a wretched state and nearly lost her life!

"What's wrong with you?"

Seeing Elena in a daze, William Spencer asked with concern.

Elena looked up and met William Spencer's bright eyes. In the evening glow, his clean and gentle face was so close to her. His beautiful eyes seemed to be filled with stars and couldn't hide the burning warmth when looking at her.

Her heart was beating so fast that it was almost jumping out of her chest.

Elena turned around frantically, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath.

His kindness towards her was like a continuous spring rain, watering the seedling of love in her heart until it grew into a towering tree...

No, she couldn't indulge herself in his love anymore.

When she turned back, Elena had already regained a calm smile on her face. "William, I should go back now!"

"Elena!"

The two of them walked on the soft fallen leaves, and William Spencer's voice was clear and pleasant like a spring.

"Anyway, you have fewer classes now, and summer vacation is coming soon. If you have the time, there is a position available as an assistant in my hospital. I don't know if you would be willing to come over."

"An assistant? But I only know how to do what nurses do, like giving injections. I'm afraid I won't be able to handle being an assistant," Elena politely declined.

"It won't be too difficult, it's similar to being a nurse. Your mother's condition isn't good right now, and this could be a chance for you to earn some money and take care of the family," William Spencer looked at her gently.

He knew very well that Elena must be doing temporary work in a place like this, helping those wealthy people with their recreational activities. Although the salary was higher, it meant serving and acting according to the wealthy individuals' wishes. That was something he didn't want to see.

"Let me think about it!" Elena considered, feeling somewhat intrigued.

William Spencer rode his horse and accompanied Elena to the foot of the mountain.

"You can't ride the horse back, wait for me to get the car, and I'll drive you home!"

"No need, I'll hail a taxi myself. You go about your business, I'm sorry for interrupting your date with Chloe," Elena apologized.

"Alright, I'll hail the taxi for you!" William smiled like a gentleman.

Elena got into the taxi, and as the car drove further away, she looked back and saw William Spencer standing by the roadside, hands in his pockets, watching her until she was out of sight. A subtle sweet warmth surged in her heart.

Instead of going to his house, Elena went straight to Sarah's place.

As soon as she entered, she saw Sarah sitting on the couch with a dejected expression, holding the remote control and mindlessly changing channels. She hadn't put on any makeup, and she looked much older.

"Mom, I'm back!"

"Elena!" Sarah's spirits lifted when she saw Elena and she quickly sat up, holding Elena's hand as they sat on the couch.

"Mom, have you been crying?" Elena asked with concern.

"Elena, ever since Annie was taken away, I've been constantly worried, afraid that something might happen. It's been a whole week, and Annie hasn't called me. What should I do?"

"Don't worry, Mom. I'll go to England in a few days. Give me the address of the Robinson family," Elena reassured Sarah.

Sarah stared at Elena for a long time, then suddenly pulled her into a tight embrace.

"No, you can't go. I've already lost one daughter, I can't lose you too!"

Elena's heart swelled with emotion; she realized how important she was in her mother's heart.

"Mom, don't worry. I'm not a child anymore. I can figure things out."

"No, I know you're capable. Forget about Annie's situation. Finish your university studies, find a decent job, and live a stable life, unlike your mother..." Sarah said bitterly, tears rolling down uncontrollably.

Although she would occasionally retort.

She lived a life of luxury, but she was just a secret mistress after all. She knew how others looked down on her, but she didn't care anymore. After all, her life was almost over. However, her two young daughters still had their lives ahead of them, and she didn't want to burden them.

"Mom, I have a friend in England. Can I ask her to find out for you? Give me the address of the Robinson family!"

Unable to resist Elena's persuasion, Sarah gave her the address of the Robinson family.

When Elena left Sarah's house, it was already nighttime.

Under the night sky, the whole city was filled with dazzling lights and intoxicating atmosphere. Elena wandered aimlessly on the streets.

"Elena!"

A familiar voice rang out, and Elena turned around to see Aaron, dressed in a complete police uniform, striding towards her with a sunny smile on his face.

Elena nodded and smiled. "Officer Hamilton! Haven't you finished work yet?"

"I have. My car broke down, so I had it sent for repairs. I was planning to walk home, but I didn't expect to run into you here."

Aaron had a good impression of Elena. He really liked this brave girl. "By the way, how is your sister doing?"

"Well... she's actually doing fine!" Elena didn't know how to explain everything, so she simply answered with a few vague sentences.

"Well, if you ever need any help in the future, feel free to come to me. This is my phone number..."

Aaron enthusiastically wrote down his phone number on a piece of paper and handed it to Elena.

Elena frowned slightly. Officer Hamilton was really absent-minded. He had already given her his phone number last time, so why did he have to give it to her again?

Just as she was about to take the paper, a deep voice, full of displeasure, interrupted.

"My woman doesn't need anyone's help..."

At the same time, a dominant arm tightly embraced her.

Elena looked up in astonishment and met Hassan's dark and intense gaze.

The scene instantly became extremely awkward.

Hassan was an expert at creating awkward situations. It was his special talent to make anyone feel uncomfortable.

Aaron was taken aback, not knowing what to do with the piece of paper in his hand. He had hoped that things would progress further with Elena, but he didn't expect her to have a boyfriend.

Elena's head started to ache. She hurriedly snatched the piece of paper from Aaron's hand and said, "Thank you, Officer Hamilton. I will call you later."

Aaron nodded awkwardly. "Okay, you two take care. I'll leave then!"

Hassan's low voice echoed, "Wait!"

Aaron turned around, surprised. "Is there something else?"

Hassan suddenly moved forward and landed a heavy punch on Aaron's face. Blood flowed from his nose and dripped down his cheek.

Elena screamed, "Hassan, have you lost your mind? What are you doing?"

She rushed forward and grabbed Hassan. She pulled him away, and Hassan waved his hand forcefully, pushing Elena aside. His dark eyes stared at her with cold anger. "If you want him to stay alive, stand still and behave," he said.

Although Aaron was trained in the police academy, he was slightly shorter than Hassan, and he didn't expect Hassan to suddenly attack him.

He stumbled back a few steps after being punched and quickly reached for his gun from his waist, pointing the dark muzzle at Hassan. "How dare you assault an officer? What do you think you're doing?"

Hassan's eyes darkened as he stared at the gun in Aaron's hand and coldly said, "What is a cop? Today, consider this a lesson. Listen carefully; the consequences won't be this easy next time if I see you getting close to my woman again."

Aaron glanced at Elena, angrily holstered his gun and said, "Damn it! Today, for Elena's sake, I won't argue with you."

However, he was still fearful; after all, Hassan was Elena's official boyfriend. Aaron suffered a loss and left in a very embarrassing manner.

Elena stood shocked in place for a while before coming to her senses.

Honestly, she didn't expect Aaron to pull out a gun. If Aaron hadn't been so composed just now, the consequences...

"Hassan, you're just like a rabid dog, biting anyone you see..."

Hassan turned around, his large hand grasping Elena's chin, and his dark eyes turned bloodshot.

"Elena! You're really daring. right in front of me, flirting with this weak and skinny man. Do you not want to live?"
