Chapter 59 The Night is Truly Beautiful
"How...how is it you?" Elena stuttered.
"Why can't it be me?" William Spencer smiled, his charming demeanor stunning all the girls present.
"William, you're here too, and you didn't tell me!"
At this moment, the person wearing the Snow White mask walked over. It was Chloe, and she warmly linked her arm with William Spencer's. "William, look, our outfits match perfectly today. You're the prince, and I'm the princess. How about we dance together?"
William Spencer gently pushed her away and smiled, "No, today I am a wolf, dancing with a fox. Little fox, shall we have another dance?"
Elena couldn't resist William Spencer's enthusiasm and had no choice but to offer her hand to him once again.
The music started playing and Elena didn't want to think about anything else.
At this moment, she only surrendered herself to the music, dancing beautifully in this enchanting ball.
She stretched her body with all her might, relying on his large hand as her support. The surroundings spun, and so did her heart. This night was so beautiful!
After finishing the dance, William Spencer led Elena outside while holding her hand.
The entire campus was covered in silver moonlight, mesmerizing like a dream.
Since the beginning of the dance, William Spencer never let go of her hand.
"Elena, you danced amazingly!" he looked at her tenderly and sincerely praised.
Reluctant to take her small hand away from his palm, Elena replied, "Thank you. If it weren't for your good teaching, I'd surely look like a mess."
"You're being modest again. Elena, have you considered my suggestion?"
"What suggestion?"
"To intern at Mayo Clinic."
"I'd love to go, but I want to visit my sister in the UK first, see if I can meet her."
"Go to the UK? Can you handle it alone?"
"I'll be fine..."
"I happen to have something to do in the UK these days. Why don't we go together?"
For him, being able to accompany her coincidentally whenever was convenient, and Elena truly believed it.
Elena immediately became excited, "Really? That's great!"
"Yeah, it's quite coincidental. Are you hungry? Let's go grab something to eat!"
After the party ended, Elena noticed some classmates walking in pairs through the campus. She realized it was getting late and if she went back any later, she would surely be scolded.
Although she wanted to spend more time with William Spencer, she sensibly pulled her hand away from his palm.
"I'm not hungry. Thank you for accompanying me. I think I should go back now."
"Elena, can I have your phone number? When will you go to the UK?"
Just then, Elena suddenly noticed a dark figure amidst the other students, looking in their direction.
Oh no, why did Hassan come to the school? Elena quickly turned around and ducked behind a tree.
"William, I have to go now. I'll contact you later."
Elena waved her hand and swiftly disappeared into the flower bed, leaving no trace behind.
William Spencer watched her vanish and chuckled, shaking his head.
Elena was very familiar with the layout of the school. After making a few turns, she quietly ran outside from a cafe on campus.
She rushed in a panic towards the spot where Noura had parked. As she ran, she took off her fox mask and threw it into the bushes.
She had timed everything perfectly; the ball started at seven and ended at nine, and Hassan usually returned around ten. Of course, there were rare occasions when he came back early, but most of the time, this man was too busy to be seen.
So, she had calculated that as long as she got back before Hassan, it would be fine. She never expected that he would come home early today, and to make matters worse, he had come to the school.
Elena walked hastily to the front of the car, reached for the door, and without even looking up, muttered to herself.
"You scared me! Noura, why didn't you even give me a heads up? He came back so early..."
Something didn't feel right. When she looked up, it wasn't Noura at all, but Hassan.
"Ah!" Elena shrieked. "Why is it you?"
"Why, does that surprise you?" Hassan said coldly.
Elena nodded speechlessly. She had just seen him on the boulevard a moment ago, how did he suddenly appear outside? Could it be that he had been following her?
"No, I just wanted you to personally pick me up from school. I'm sorry!"
Hassan gave her a cold glance, started the car in silence, and Elena watched him anxiously. His profile had a rigid line, and he seemed really angry.
Elena wisely remained silent, not daring to speak. True to her expectations, he remained silent all the way to Paris Bay. Elena intentionally waited for him to get out of the car first and took her own sweet time before getting out, she felt apprehensive.
As soon as they entered the living room, she hurried towards the bedroom on the second floor.
"Stop right there!"
Hassan's icy voice rang behind her, and Elena stopped in her tracks, slowly turning around. He was sitting on the couch waiting for her. Oh no, what was he going to do to her now?
Elena immediately wore a smile on her face. "Are you tired? Do you want me to give you a massage?"
Hassan furrowed his brows. "Who allowed you to come back so late?"
"There was a mixer at school; everyone went, so I went to have some fun too!"
"A mixer? Or a date? Who did you dance with? You seem to have had a great time!" His mocking tone mixed with dissatisfaction, and Elena sensed the dangerous atmosphere.
"I didn't really dance... I just played with my classmates..." Elena became angry. She was not his slave, why did he have the right to control her like this?
The smile on her face gradually froze.
"From today onwards, you are not allowed to go anywhere without my permission!"
Hassan was furious. Seeing the young students on campus, boldly and passionately kissing each other, he couldn't help but imagine Elena kissing another guy. The anger within him couldn't be appeased.
Elena stared at him in shock. "Hassan, you're going too far! Who are you to restrict my freedom?
"I'm not your pet dog! You can't detain me!" Hassan's sinister handsome face curved into a cold smile. "I can! Noura, lock her up."
"Yes, Master!" Noura's gaze shifted to Elena, a hint of worry appearing in her eyes.
"You can't detain me, you can't do this! What gives you the right?" Elena's anger was met with indifference by Hassan. He coldly stared at her. "Think carefully about what you should do."
"Think my ass, Hassan, you scoundrel, you psychopathic bastard..." Elena was carried into the room by Noura, kicking and thrashing with all her might. Her words were devoid of reason, provoking an ugly expression on Hassan's face.
Noura placed Elena on the carpet and closed the room's door with her hand.
"Miss Walker, you cannot be so willful. You were wrong today."
"Noura, what did I do wrong? Why does he want to detain me? Who does he think he is? I'll sue him..."
"Miss Walker!" Noura sighed deeply, helplessly gazing at her.
Elena was filled with frustration and anger. She sat on the carpet, crying uncontrollably with little regard for her own image.
Noura hung her hands by her side, wearing a worried expression, unsure of what to say.
"Miss Walker, you should know the Master's temper. Why do you always argue with him? His actions towards you are because he cares too much..."
"Noura, you're lying. If your boyfriend always hits you and locks you up, disregarding the safety of your family, would you still like him?"
Noura sighed. "Miss Walker, please rest for a while. Maybe tomorrow, when the Master cools down, he will take back what he said today."
That night, Elena couldn't sleep. With each passing moment, she realized that Hassan was simply a scumbag who would not change his ways. She couldn't let her emotions guide her; she needed to find a solution.
The next day, before dawn, Elena's phone began to ring. She groggily answered it.
"Elena..."
The sound of Sarah crying came through the phone, instantly waking Elena up. She grabbed her phone and sat up.
"Mom, what's wrong?"
"Elena, can you come back for a visit? Mom misses you."
"Mom, has something happened?"
"I've been having nightmares these past few days, dreaming that something happened to Annie. Mom is so scared."
Sarah's voice was hoarse and weary, lacking strength as she spoke.
"Okay, I'll come back right away!"
Elena hung up the phone, quickly got ready, and hurriedly walked out of the bedroom. "Noura, where's Hassan?"
The side of the bed was empty, indicating he hadn't slept the whole night.
Noura whispered, "The Master is still in the carving room. It seems he was very angry last night."
Elena furrowed her brows and turned, making her way towards the annex building.
At the entrance to the carving studio, Elena knocked forcefully. "Hassan, I need to talk to you. Come out for a moment."
The icy door remained tightly shut, ignoring Elena's shouts.
Elena resorted to kicking.
"Open the door, Hassan. Come out!"
"Are you trying to kick down my house?"
After a while, the door finally opened, and Hassan stared at her coldly, his tone full of mockery.
"I need to go home for a while!"
Elena stated boldly.
Hassan looked at her coldly. "No."
"I'm telling you, no matter what, I must go home today!"
Hassan squinted his eyes. "Don't come up with these excuses to fool me. Not only going home, you can't go anywhere. I have my limits, and you have crossed them. Face the consequences."
Elena was furious. How dare he think she was tricking him!
