Chapter 34 Chapter 34 - He Is Married

I have no intention of disobeying what Nikolai wants. But I was also disturbed by what Jarvis had said earlier.
I still do not know Nicks when it comes to women. They were friends. So they probably knew each other very well.
And what was the reason why they quarreled? Could it be regarding a woman?
"Can I request you something?" I inquired.
"What is that?" He asked.
"Please, do not fight with Jarvis again." I pleaded.
He bussed my hand. I do not want to see him mistreated particularly if I am the reason.
One night, I had a photoshoot at a Cafe. I will endorse the said cafe.
"Wow! You are really beautiful, Eve!" One girl praised me.
"Thank you!" I said smiling.
"Extremely when we saw you face to face." the other one said.
I am so thrilled with the praises and compliments I have been hearing from other people.
When the photoshoot was over, the cafe prepared food for us.
"Their foods are delizioso (delicious)." acclaimed Ella.
"Yes, I love the food!" When we were eating.
"You did great, Eve! I could see your photos and for sure the cafe would have a hard time picking among those." Ella giggled.
"At least, they could pick any of the pictures." I smiled.
"Excuse me, Eve!" The newcomer.
Ella and I both looked at the newcomer.
"Hey! Jarvis!" I said in shock.
"Can we talk for a while?" He begged.
"All right! Ella, I will just talk to Jarvis!" I bid goodbye.
"Eve, you may talk here. I will move to the other table." Ella announced and stood up.
I bobbed.
"Jarvis, let me clear things to you. I want you to be my friend.
That is all I could offer you." I told him.
I intend to admit to Nicks how I feel. I will confide in him.
I have to tell Jarvis that I could only offer him friendship and nothing more.
I want to end up their issue about me.
I am not comfortable that men are fighting over me.
"Is it because of Nikolai? Is he forcing you to do this?" He inquired weakly.
"He did not force me. It is my own decision." I retorted.
"Do you know Nikolai is married?" Jarvis said suddenly.
"Married?" I was shocked by what I heard.
"Yeah! He is married. His wife is an amazing woman. She is considerate, lovely, and smart. She is almost a perfect girl.
I was the first to woo her and Nikolai just snatched her from me even though he knew I courted Genina too.
They went together to Budapest for Genina's medication. But she did not make it.
She died! Nikolai loves Genina very much. She is his life. He has been lost since his wife disappeared.
His life becomes miserable. I am telling you all this not to discredit him. This is a warning, Eve. I do not want you to get harmed and impaired by Nikolai.
You know how much you mean to me. I have been honest with my feelings for you.
Probably, he is just trying to use you for his own sake.
He is a man, he needs a woman for leisure, for pastime.
Since Genina disappeared, he has not dated a woman. He loved no one else.
He is still living in presence of his deceased wife. Perhaps because..." I motioned for him to stop.
"Thanks for sharing it with me. But I have no relationship with Nikolai.
I am telling you to stop courting me because I just want to focus on my career and my child." my excuses.
"Even if you ask Nathan, he will tell you the same thing!" he added.
Jarvis is telling the truth. Nikolai came from Budapest before he accepted the position of CEO of TvN8 Station.
And Lara also said that, he is miserable so that was how he looked and behaved in the past.
He did not know how to smile then.
He hates the world.
He wanted to be alone.
How could I ask him something I knew would possibly hurt me?
His wife could not harm me since she is dead. But I know, my foe is Nikolai's heart! He loves his wife.
"Excuse me. Nathan." I began.
"Eve, what do you need?" Nathan inquired.
"Do you know Genina?" I dared to ask.
"How did you know her? Did Nikolai tell the whole story?" He also begged.
I just nodded. I told an untruth.
"Yes, I know her!" He admitted.
"Nicks loves her so much." Suddenly I said.
"They love each other so much. Genina is so smart. She is beautiful. She is a caring and loving wife.
She already has almost everything. So Nikolai mourned for her loss for a long duration of time.
But I am glad that he seems slowly recovering." Nathan's litany.
"Hey, Eve, do not even think about that! You know the reason why Nikolai is so alive and active again!" Nathan added.
Is it true that he is just making fun of me?
Is Nikolai just making me a pastime and for his leisure?
Is he trying to make me a coverup for his lost wife and when he is bored and tired about me, he will leave me?
Instead of asking myself the same questions, I should ask Nikolai about this.
I should not be afraid to get hurt. It is better to know the truth and get maimed than be happy with his lies.
While things are not that deep yet. While I could still mend the possible wound in my heart.
I went to his office. He is resting with his eyes closed. And seems sleeping calmly.
I loved him when we first met. And I have conceded to myself that I still love him.
Nothing has changed with my feelings towards Nikolai.
Will I just let him hurt me as long as I am with him?
Can I surrender my heart for as long as I am happy with him?
"Nina... Nina..." Nicks murmured while asleep.
"Nina? Is it Genina?" I begged myself.
He still has not forgotten his wife. Even in a dream, he utters her name.
It was as if my heart was being torn apart.
It weakens that my rival is no longer alive. But Nikolai still loves her dearly.
What can I match against the woman he loved?
How can I compete with the woman he had been with for a long time.
How can I oppose the woman he married.
He still cherishes the woman even though she is gone.
One night, Luigi and Ella visited us in the new house.
"What are we going to do?" Ella asked.
"We better play games, as usual." My suggestion.
"What game should we play?" Luigi inquired.
"Cards! Crazy 8. This would be the punishment, if you lose the lipstick will be blotted on your face." I explained.
"All right, all right, call!" Ella consented.
"Call!" Luigi did the same.
I get cards and lipstick. We have already started playing.
We used to do this even before and it is always fun to play with my dear friends.
"What trick do you use? You haven't lost yet, Eve." Ella's complaint.
"I could play crazy 8 even with my eyes closed!" I laughed saying.
We played another round.
"Yes! Yes! You lost too!" Luigi said excitedly.
"Ahhh why?" I frowned.
"I will go first, get ready, Eve!" Ella came over and put lipstick on my forehead.
"It is my turn. Where could I put the smudge?" Luigi asked smiling.
"Hey! Just put a short smudge!" I ordered him.
Then he put lipstick on me and I felt like he did a long smudge.
"Luigi, you cheat!" And I grabbed the lipstick.
Luigi lay down on the carpet. I was out of balance and I fell on top of him.
But I was able to focus my two hands so that our bodies did not stick together.
Luigi suddenly caressed my face.
I froze.
I could not move immediately.
"Eve!"
"Baby." Two voices at once called out.
I was startled when Nicks abruptly came over and pulled me up.
"What is going 'on?" He asked with a grimace.
"Sir Nikolai, we are just playing cards," Ella responded.
"Baby, you have a lot of marks on your face. Did you lose?" Nathan begged.
"Yes, it is the very first time that Eve lose so Luigi tried to put a long mark on her face!" Ella chuckled.
I could not say anything. My heart whacks rapidly!
Is Nicks furious?
I could see Luigi and Nicks peeking at each other with tension again.
What is their problem?
What is Nicks' issue if he saw me lying on Luigi's body?
He still loves his wife!
I guess, he probably feels that his ego is just being trampled on because of Luigi's presence.
Nikolai held me. And he was about to take me out of the house.
"You are Eve and Ella's boss but maybe it is not part of their job to report what they do outside work." Luigi unexpectedly spoke.
"How about you? Who are you to Eve? You are just a friend, aren't you?" Nicks said.
I was stunned so I just gazed at the two of them.
