Chapter 47 Chapter 47 - Nikolai Is Missing

I leaned against the door. Did I do it right? But why do I feel so much discomfort after uttering those hurtful words?
I dreamed of marrying Nikolai and he will become Nicka's father after that officially.
This is far from the situation I imagined. The one in the fairy tale story I created is, one day Prince Nikolai will say that he loves Eve.
He will claim to be Nicka's real Daddy because he loves the mother and daughter very much.
He will marry Eve and they will live happily ever after.
But it is unlikely that will happen! Nikolai was the man I hid for over three years.
He is the one I am frightened to come back and mess with Nicka and me.
What will I do?
Hide again?
Leave?
I requested Brother Ricco to bring someone to fix the doors and the lock.
"Brother Ricco, have a snack first," Ella told Brother Ricco and his companion.
"All right, Ella, we will just finish this." Brother Ricco replied.
"Oh! Eve, there it is! Your doorknob has been replaced. Perhaps, Sir Nikolai will not be able to come in here." Ella exclaimed.
"Thank you, Ella! But you know the burden of my heart. I also hurt him.
I have told him excessive nasty words." I mumbled.
I have realized everything that I have been said to Nikolai. I did not sleep well either.
"Eve, I know how you feel for him so it is only innate that you will be like that." Ella stroked my back.
"I do not know now how to deal with this.
There is a lot of stuff running in my brain." I shrugged.
"Take one step at a time, Dear! You cannot do it all in one stop. Just prioritize your decisions.
Give yourself and Sir Nikolai a space. You both need to think and process the truth." Ella advised me.
And a few days had passed, Nikolai is not visiting me and Nicka.
Probably because I changed the doorknob and the keys. But I was waiting for someone to ring the doorbell.
"Mommy, why is Daddy not going here anymore?
We are not going to their house too, I miss Daddy, Grandpa, and Grandma." Nicka said as we had lunch.
"Your Daddy is occupied at work. Grandpa and Grandma went somewhere on vacation." I told an untruth.
"When they got home, let us visit them,"
she said again.
Does Nicka feel her connection to the La Marcus family? Does she sense that she is a La Marcus?
What happened to Nikolai? Miraculously he is not insisting on what he wants now. He is not visiting his child either.
Ella calling...
"Yes, Ella!" My answer.
"Eve, we brought Mama here at the hospital. I just called to tell you I can not go there." Ella announced.
"What happened to Aunt Ellie? Just wait for me I will be there soon."
I replied in shock.
"Do not worry, no need to hustle, Eve. Mama is getting better.
She has been admitted. Stay there and look after Nicka." She explained.
I cannot just let myself stay here at home. The person who is always there to help me and her mother who always looks after Nicka is in the hospital.
And Aunt Ellie did not hesitate to take care of Nicka.
I changed Nicka's dress so we could go to the hospital.
Someone rang the doorbell.
"Wait, I am coming!" I shouted.
I led Nicka and picked up my bag.
I opened the door. Then I went to the gate.
"Luigi, thank you and you came! Can I leave Nicka with you first?
She might get some virus in the hospital." As I opened the gate.
"Of course! I will accompany you. Do not drive. I will tell mommy to look after Nicka while we are in the hospital" Luigi agreed.
And we left.
When Nicka was already with his mom, we went straight to the hospital.
"There is Eve Lopez!" I heard someone say.
"Yes, Ms. Eve, can we have a picture please?" A Nurse begged.
I have already accommodated them.
Gradually they got to know me and notice me.
They are all coming into my place and would want to take a picture with me.
Then Luigi put his arm around me and supported me so that others would not notice me much.
I forgot to be thorough. I wish I had worn a hoody jacket so that there would be no more commotion in the hospital.
"How is Aunt Ellie?" I promptly asked Ella when we reached Aunt Ellie's room.
"Mama did not tell me that she is feeling something strange about herself." Foreword by Ella.
"Her sugar may have gone up before. Now she is diabetic. Diabetes Mellitus, Eve, the doctor told me.
Her body cannot produce enough or respond to insulin. That is why her blood sugar is abnormally high." Ella clarified.
"That is why she is losing weight. That could be the reason." Said Luigi.
"Auntie, are you all right?" I inquired to her.
"I am feeling better, Eve! I still have a mission in this world and I am far from death. Where is Nicka?" she retorted.
"She is with Luigi's mom! Get well soon, Aunt Ellie. I will take care of Nicka." I answered her back.
Ella muttered to me that we need to talk for a while outside.
"Eve, I am sorry but she cannot take care of Nicka anymore.
Her blood sugar level has to be monitored. And anytime, she can feel worse. Nicka and Mama might both be damned." Ella's introduction.
"I will not allow her to get tired anymore. I have lost a mother, Ella. So let us look after Aunt Ellie. I do not want her to suffer. She should be resting at home." I held her hand.
"Thank you, Eve! And also thank you that I have a job now. Mama's treatment is expensive. So I will do my job better." she leaned on my shoulder.
How will I leave TvN8 Station if someone is relying on me?
If I furlough, Ella will leave too. I will not let my friend have a hard time thinking about where to get money for her mother's existence.
Another thing, I know the feeling of almost losing the one you love because you do not have money for the treatment.
I will help Ella and Aunt Ellie for as long as I could. I once lost my mother and I do not want Ella to experience that either.
I also leaned on Ella's head to let her know I am just here.
On a successive day, Ella and Nathan went to my house together.
"Who is watching out on Aunt Ellie? I am going to the hospital." I said as I put the drinks on the table.
"Oh! Eve, Papa, and Eldon are there. They are watching on Mama." Ella answered back.
Eldon is Ella's younger brother.
"Do not go to the hospital and crowded places." Nathan's advice.
"You are viral again now. Have you seen it?" Ella raised a question.
"Which one? I am not very much active on social media." my simple excuse.
"You were in trouble at the hospital last night. Someone got your video. So people are wondering now if you are in a relationship with Luigi." Nathan rationalized.
"Here oh! 'Is he Eve's boyfriend?'
'Maybe he is Eve's special someone'
And almost the same questions because Luigi cuddled you and took you away from the people." Ella read on her phone.
"Cuddled? Luigi just put his arm around me. He just protected me." I replied.
"They are requesting that Luigi be invited to the Love Hotline so that they will know who he is in your life." Ella's statement again.
"No way, Ella! We know Luigi does not want that. What did TvN8 Station react about it?" I turned to Nathan.
"Nikolai probably already knows. But he is not yet coming in his office for a few days nows." Nathan clarified.
"He is not coming in his office?" I repeated in a form of a question.
"Yes, he has not been to TvN8 Station. I called him but he does not answer me.
I went to Aunt Vina but she did not come home either. I am worried about him.
Is he coming here? Do you have a problem?" Nathan's litany.
"He is not coming here." my weak answer.
"Something happened to him before so I am troubled. I just do not have the right to tell you about it." I could see that Nathan is bothered.
What happened to him? Why am I unexpectedly feeling apprehensive? Why isn't he attending TvN8 Station? He is not going home to their house.
And what has he done in the past? Why does the problem keep coming?
Aunt Ellie is sick.
Nicka needs to find a new guardian.
I cannot leave TvN8 Station for Ella.
Luigi was even reached by the intrigue.
And now, Nikolai is missing in action.
Where is he? What happened to him? Why am I concerned? Was it because of me that is why he flee?
Which one should I fix first?
How can I do all these on my own?
This is too depressing but I have to stay strong for the people who are depending on me.
