Chapter 39 Chapter 39 - He Likes Me Too

"Is Nicks a good Boss?" Daddy Ramon implored.
Nikolai and I looked at each other. The person I am avoiding is also the one I will see tonight.
I would rather listen to my mind than to what my heart says!
"He is kind to everyone." I glanced at Daddy Ramon.
"It is nice that you already know each other." Mommy Vina groaned.
We have already started our sumptuous dinner.
"Where is Nicka?" Nicks abruptly begged.
"She is at home with Aunt Ellie. I went straight here." My weak answer.
"Nicka is a very cheerful child. I miss her." Daddy Ramon retorted.
"Do you want me to fetch Nicka, Dad?" Nicks inquired.
"No, Nicks. You better come back here tomorrow with Eve and Nicka." Daddy Ramon suggested.
"You are coming..." Mommy Vina stopped what Nicks was going to say.
"Everyday Eve and Nicka are here, Son! Nicka is playing with your Dad. And we are having fun looking after Nicka." Nicks and I glanced at each other again.
He replenished me with a very sweet smile.
He is so handsome as always!
After we had dinner we went to the living room.
When Nicka and I are here we are usually just by the pool.
So I did not immediately realize that Nicks' parents were Mommy Vina and Daddy Ramon.
They have a large family portrait on the stairs attached to the wall. Perhaps, Nicks is just the same age as Nicka in that portrait.
"Nicks was cute as a kid, right? But now, he grew up to be a very handsome man.
He was three in that photo." When Mommy Vina noticed that I was staring at the portrait.
"Of course, he inherited his looks to me." Daddy Ramon chuckled.
"Mommy Vina is gorgeous. And of course, Daddy Ramon is handsome." I acclaimed them.
"I look like Daddy! Does that mean, I am also handsome in your eyes, Eve?" Nicks retorted.
I just smiled at him instead of answering his query.
I took a good look at the picture, particularly of Nicks. I seemed to be bothered by his photo.
Why?
"Hon, we better go up to bed. Let us rest." Daddy Ramon announced.
"All right, take a rest. Good night, Mom, Dad!" Nicks smooched his parents.
And soon, I was left alone with Nicks.
"Thank you!" Nicks mumbled abruptly.
"For what?" While I could not help but flap the ruffles of my skirt.
"You saved Mommy last time. Then you introduced them to Nicka.
You made them happy." she deciphered.
"I did not know that they are your family.
I just found a new family in them. I am grateful that I met them." I retorted.
"At least, the new person you met is not a man. I got apprehensive!" Nicks stood up in his seat.
And he stood beside me. He grabbed my hand.
"Eve, about Genina." His introduction.
"I know that you love her so much." I looked him in the eyes.
"I love her so much, that is true! I do not realize how to live since she disappeared.
I isolated myself from all. To my friends, my family. Until I met someone.
Someone who changed everything. She thought me how to smile again.
She gave meaning to my life furthermore. Not because she is the same as Genina.
Not because I am comparing her to my late wife. But because she is herself.

There is no reason why I like her. As far as I know, she revived me. She is making me glad.
She reminded me that it is good to live in this world despite various crises.
She is the strongest woman I know." Nicks' long statement.
"Why are you telling me those things? Why don't you confess to her?" I withdrew my hand.
And I was flabbergast at what he did next.
He claimed my lips! He kissed me.
I automatically closed my eyes to what Nicks did to me.
"You are the one that I want, Eve!" And then he said when he stopped what he was performing.
I opened my mouth. Did I hear it right?
"I hope you believe me. When I am with you, I do not feel longingness.
I feel complete. I cannot explain why I do not want a man around you. Until I admitted, I should be the only man to make you smile!
I am jealous of every man who looks at you as a special woman.
Eve, I like you! I want to hold your hand. I want to keep you safe. I want to wipe your tears and put a smile on your face.
I want to clench you in my arms and never let you go. I want to seal your lips with a kiss coming from mine." And he pertained his index finger to my lips.
Is Nicks confiding in his feelings to me? Is it transpiring? I want to pass out!
"I heard you. You told Nathan you could not live without Genina. What if you just said that to me because you miss her?
And every time you kiss me, she is the one you remember." I felt frightened.
"I would be fabricating if I denied I said that. But did you hear everything?" He asked.
I shook.
"That was me when you were not yet into my life.
Would you believe that I liked you when we first met? It just so happened that I was married then.
So I was just watching you secretly from afar. And I am the owner of Snow White Products.
I instantly called the office to change your uniform.
When we meet again, I abruptly want to enter TvN8 Station every day. I thought it is a thing called "destiny".
And I finally accepted the position that I refused to have. I believed in jinx again. With my heartbeat speeding up every time I am with you and you are near me.
You do not have to be envious of Genina. You do not have to compare yourself to him.

I gazed at Nicks. What he said was very sincere.
Why should I be afraid to compete with a dead one?
I am very much alive and I can do something for Nicks to love me one day.
Isn't it a good start that he already likes me? And next time, he will say that he loves me too.
He is the only man who makes me comfortable like this.
Why would I even torture myself?

"Eve, I hope ..." I did not let him speak.
I pulled his collar closer to me. And I kissed him myself.
I felt him clench my neck. And he started an erotic kiss with me.

We were stunned when abruptly we heard a sound coming from the kitchen.
"I am sorry, I dropped the spoon." Nanny Myrna said and left immediately.
"That is disturbing!" Smiling Nicks mumbled.
"Hey, it is getting murky outside. I have to go home. Nicka is waiting for me." I bit my lips.
Nicks decide to bring me home. Brother Ricco and Aunt Ellie also went home when we arrived.
Nicka is already asleep and seems tired of playing.
"Are you still going to your house?" I asked him.
"No, I will stay with my parents." He answered back.
"That is good. They'd better have someone with them.
All right, Nicks! Go home and be safe." I tapped him on the shoulder.
"Shoulder tap? I like what you did to me a little while ago." He grumbled mischievously.
"Oh my gosh! Go home!" I smirked.
I nodded and bussed him on the cheek. Nicks turned my waist and kissed me on the lips.
He seems to be very enthusiastic about giving me kisses today.
"I am the only one who can do this to you.
And I am the only one you will kiss like that!" Nicks muttered.
I am so grateful for a series of good things happening in my life.
I have a new family and I finally heard from Nicks how he feels about me.
